Persona 3: The Movie Series Fandub

Persona 3: The Movie Series Fandub

Project Overview

Okay... This is going to be a big project... This summer I'm going to be producing fandubs of the Persona 3 Anime Movies those being Movie 1: Spring of Birth, Movie 2: Midsummer Knight's Dream, Movie 3: Falling Down, and when it gets released on home media Movie 4: Winter of Rebirth. The reason why I did this project was because 1. There is no official english dub for the Persona 3 Movies. 2. I thought it'd be fun as hell to do. and 3. I absolutely adore "Persona 3: FES" the game and I enjoy the Anime adaptation films. As for why I'm planning to do this in the summer I want to get fully prepared and have casting go for the course of a couple months so I see what can work and such, etc. Plus between now and June I'll be doing my other fandub projects.

Plot:

The story of Persona 3 takes place in a 2009 CE Japanese city called Iwatodai, built and funded by the Kirijo Corporation. Experiments carried out ten years ago created the Dark Hour, a period of time that exists between one day and the next.During this time, most people are transmogrified into coffins and are not aware of the Dark Hour; however, there is a select group of people who aren't.The Dark Hour bends reality; Gekkoukan High School, where most of the characters attend school during the day, becomes a huge labyrinthine tower called Tartarus, and beasts known as Shadows roam the area, preying on the minds of those still conscious. The Shadows leave their victims in near-catatonic states outside of the Dark Hour.To investigate and learn about the Dark Hour, Shadows, and Tartarus, the "Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad", or SEES, was created. SEES is a group of high-schoolers capable of summoning beings known as Personas to combat Shadows. Personas are described as being "a second soul that dwells deep within a person's heart. It is an entirely different personality that emerges when a person is confronted with something from outside his world."Persona-users usually summon their Persona by firing a gun-like object called an Evoker at their head.

As for Auditions I'll allow you to either base your character's voice of the English voice actors of the game or you can do your own unique take on the character depending on which one you are more comfortable doing. Requirements for auditioning are:
-Decent Microphone

-Commitment to the project

-Be respectful

One more note: I will not be accepting Live Auditions until later so if that's more your style I'll see what I can do.

I have a lot of passion for Persona 3 as a whole and I really want to make this as good as I possibly can. I will be updating this project with more details coming soon and I will also be adding more voice roles later on.

If you have any questions, concerns, etc. please message me or email me at [redacted]

Now with all that stuff out of the way: Good luck and have fun with your auditions! :)

Latest Updates

  • Persona 3: The Movie Major Update

Okay so first off I'd like to say: Thank you to all who have auditioned so far.

Secondly the Audition Due Date has been pushed back a month due to new stuff coming up for me such as School, Job, and even a New Persona Fangame project which I've gotten involved in and may speak about at a later date. As for why it's being pushed back: Just to give me some more time to prepare since I'm still trying to get my groove with a script and maybe some editors for it.

Thirdly I have been thinking about maybe just dubbing certain scenes from the 3 available movies to get some feedback and see what works before jumping into the Movie itself since I'm not the most experienced at this. I'm also thinking about Dubbing "The Answer" from Persona 3 FES but will get to that when we get to that. XD

And that's it for the Update. If you have any questions just message me. :)

  • Short Update: Live Auditions

Just wanted to let everyone know I'll be open for Live Auditions for Persona 3 from April 15th-April 18th. That's just a good date for me since I have a long weekend and a lot of free time to book an audition. So if you're interested in that send me a message and I'll set up a time for you. :)

Makoto Yuki

cast offsite

Makoto Yuki is depicted as ambivalent to the point of apathy. Severely traumatized by witnessing the deaths of his parents as a child, he has extremely neutral viewpoints on life and death and is uncaring of either, at one point telling Yukari that he doesn't care if he dies. Because of his unnerving lack of interest and motivation, he often acts only when told to do so and takes on tasks with little, if any sense of self-preservation. This is the main reason he allied himself with SEES, as he was requested to and had no reason to refuse the offer. Ironically, it is this apathetic attitude that allows him to fight Shadows so effectively; he battles without concern for his safety and cares little if he is wounded or exhausted by a fight, allowing him to take massive risks and deal immense damage. Despite the fact that Makoto cares little for his own safety, he breaks through his stony and blunt attitude whenever his friends are in danger and even worries for their safety when any of them are put in a life-threatening situation, mainly because the thought of them dying reminds him of his parents' fate.

  • I don't really care. Is dying that scary to you?

  • Persona!

  • (Improv if you wish)

Mitsuru Kirijo

Mitsuru is calm, confident, mature, responsible, very intelligent and trilingual (English, Japanese, and French). As the president of the student council, Mitsuru is very caring for Gekkoukan's students, especially towards her fellow SEES members. Due to this however, there are times where she tends to go out of her way often to accept responsibility for many things that especially involves her family's history.  She states that she began using her Persona to protect her father. Her hobbies include Fencing and learning about Culture and Language. She is also good friends with Akihiko Sanada.

  • The lights disappear, all machinery stops, and the city is lined with coffins. That's the Dark Hour... an hour hidden between one day and the next.

  • Prepare to be executed...

  • Studying actually helps to take your mind off things.

Despite his young age, Ken is very intelligent and mature. He is honest, diligent, and deeply caring towards his peers, particularly the members of SEES. He is very polite to others, and never misses a chance to show respect where respect is due. He has a strong dislike towards milk, but he forces himself to drink it so he can become taller. Ken notes that one of the reasons he uses spears in battle is so that he'll be on even ground with an adult. His reason for joining SEES is that he is lonely, vengeful, and desperate to avenge his deceased mother. Although Ken is very mature, he still has several qualities that fit with his age. He finds a role-model in Akihiko Sanada, whom he admires for his boxing and fighting talents, often referring to him as "Sanada-san" as a form of respect to his senpai. He also likes to watch a children's show, Phoenix Rangers, on Sundays.

  • Liar... You said you'd believe me! I can't trust any adults. So I'll find him myself.

  • Shinjiro-san... I'll see it through until the end.

  • Aw, crap!

Junpei Iori

Junpei is portrayed as somewhat goofy, perverted, kind, caring, upbeat, and sometimes serious in missions and other events. After school, he is seen reading manga or playing video games. He becomes jealous of Makoto's special power, and this often results in outbursts aimed at the protagonist out of frustration (his jealousy over the protagonist's abilities were especially pronounced in Spring of Birth). This is partly because he wants to be a leader. Other times, he is shown to be depressed or angry as a result of his father's alcoholism. Besides these displays of negativity, however, Junpei's attitude usually remains carefree and light-hearted, and when spoken to he often cracks jokes.

  • Hey, it's Yuka-tan! I didn't think we'd be in the same class again.

  • Good evening. Welcome to "Junpei's Believe It, or Don't."

  • Man who put you in charge of operations? I'll do it myself!

Takaya Sakaki

Takaya is the confident and charismatic young leader of Strega. Takaya's personality is added during the course of the story. In his first appearance, where he was on a "mission" with his fellow members, he is shown to be cold and indifferent, mocking and pointing at his victim with his gun. When asked by his victim why he is doing this, Takaya says that it is not the victim's concern and even justifies his action by saying that "people hear what they wish to hear and believe what they want to believe". During his first encounter with SEES, he tells the team that the world is crawling with sin and that there will always be disasters, caused by Shadows or human folly, further reinforcing his negative world view. This, along with his other comments during the game, shows that he is misanthropic. His later multiple assassination attempts shows that he has little or no appreciation for the life of others with the exception of Jin and Chidori.

  • Your notion of right and wrong is irrelevant. My client's wishes are all that matter.

  • Fate permitted me to live, even though I wasn't attached to live...

  • People hear what they wish to hear and believe what they want to believe.

Aigis' initial personality is simply to obey orders, although she is drawn to Makoto and begins breaking into his room at night to be with him. Later, she developed emotions, becoming compassionate and loyal to her friends, though she struggles to fully understand her new emotions. She is also very polite to everybody, always using the suffix '-san' when addressing them. Aigis makes her first appearance in Yakushima, where members of SEES are enjoying their vacation. She appears to be looking out towards the ocean, where Makoto, Junpei, and Akihiko are attracted by her beauty. The trio formulates a plan to flirt with her, only to fail. During Makoto's encounter with her, parts of her memories are restored and Aigis escapes. She is later revealed to be an Anti-Shadow weapon developed by the Kirijo Group (to the dismay of Junpei and Akihiko), and also happens to be the final Anti-Shadow weapon still capable of functioning. Ikutsuki later assigned her to SEES as a member, and she enrolls in Gekkoukan High to act as the Makoto's bodyguard.

  • The sole purpose of my existence is to destroy shadows. For that reason, I was given a personality and a persona.

  • Don't worry. I will always be by your side, protecting you...

  • Mission complete. No damage to either body or mind.

Igor has plays the role of Proprietor of the mysterious Velvet Room, a space which transcends both dream and reality. As the Proprietor, Igor provides insight to Makoto regarding his powers, emotional bonds, and possible dangers that await them in their journey. Despite his rather striking appearance, Igor bears a calm and courteous demeanor while speaking with Makoto. Though the well-being of Makoto is important to him, he reserves the disclosure of certain information for more "timely" points in the story. During conversations concerning Makoto’s actions, Igor opts for rather cryptic comments that tend to foreshadow coming events and possibly the outcome of the story as a whole, regardless of whether or not those comments are at the time understood (which may be his intent). This suggests that Igor may have near-omniscience, though by his own admission, there are things that even he can't foresee. He is also accompanied by his assistant Elizabeth.

  • Welcome to the Velvet Room.

Jin is Takaya's faithful right-hand man, acting as his tactical adviser and the webmaster of "revenge request". He uses hand grenades and other small bombs in battle, and is also a skilled computer hacker. He is "well-known" on the internet, according to Akihiko Sanada. Fuuka Yamagishi in particular recognizes the name Jin from her time online. Jin's most prominent trait is his loyalty to Takaya, to the degree of a zealot. Jin shows to be quite intelligent being the information gatherer of Strega and web author of the Revenge Request website. He is very adept at locating their victims. Although, despite his intelligence, Jin is shown to have a very aggressive disposition as well as sharing the same misanthropic views as Takaya, though he is more rational than him acting as a voice of reason to Takaya's more impulsive behavior. Jin dislikes SEES and appears very eager to be rid of them, since he believes that they are hypocrites who don't appreciate their own power.

Yukari is very popular in Gekkoukan High School and is also known as the girl who rejects a lot of guys. Her hobbies include archery and acting for drama. Her favorite color is pink. Though she is known for her major mood swings, Yukari is actually friendly and caring towards her peers, especially towards Fuuka, and later, Mitsuru. She is careful not to let anyone get too close to her because of her 'shady' past, and constantly teases Junpei because of this (e.g. Stupei). She opens up to the protagonist because she thinks they can relate in their parental issues. Also, whenever someone makes a perverted remark towards her (usually Junpei or Ryoji), she will respond by either stomping on their foot or slapping them. Yukari despises the Dark Hour, and feels it takes away innocence. She wants to live a decent life, and feels that her situation chains her back. However, Yukari goes through with it because she realizes how vital her role is as there are limited Persona users.

  • We're here, welcome to Gekkoukan High School. Hope you like it!

She serves Igor and takes responsibility of her duty in the Velvet Room. Elizabeth's tendencies to act on impulse and to not take dangerous things and situations seriously often results in either baffling or even enraging (often the enemy) those involved in the crisis with her surprisingly cool demeanor.

Chidori is loyal to Takaya and Jin and always follows them to do illegal activities. She loves to draw. She thinks of her Persona, Medea as her only friend, even though her Persona nearly killed her. She always healed and revived the flowers when she was in the hospital to make them healthy and in the exchange she gets injured on her hand. She has no memories of her childhood since her awakening ten years ago. A member of Strega, Chidori dons a white gothic-lolita dress, and while not doing anything, sketches at the Port Island Station. She is one of the Persona users who require "suppressants" to control their Persona. Because of their dependency on the expensive drugs, Chidori joined Strega in their activity through a "revenge website", where they carry out assassinations and other illegal activities during the Dark Hour. However, their activity is threatened by SEES, a group dedicated to ending the Dark Hour. It is there during summer vacation that she met one of the SEES members, Junpei. Junpei was intrigued by her presence and hobby. Initially, Chidori brushed him off as a nuisance but later on seems to have an affection towards Junpei.

  • What I fear most isn't death; what I fear most is attachment. Once I become attached to something, I fear that I will lose it.

The father of Mitsuru Kirijo and the son of Kouetsu Kirijo. He is the current head of the Kirijo Group. SEES first meets Takeharu on summer vacation when Mitsuru offers to take them a location owned by her family to relax. Although they initially see him as frightening, he is gradually revealed to have a gentle side. After some time, he explains the nature of how the Dark Hour came to be as well as the fates of the researchers who caused it, most notably of Eiichiro Takeba when he shows the party a tape of Eiichiro's parting words. As a result of his explanation, Takeharu was assumed to be the only real adult survivor of this ten year old incident. Takeharu is firm and bold in everything he does which frightens people that he first meets. He is particularly strict with his daughter but it is shown multiple times that he means the best for her and feels especially guilty that his daughter inherited his mistake.

Fuuka is a shy and timid, but friendly girl. Despite being quiet, she tries to help her friends in any way possible. She loves computers and technology. A student of Gekkoukan High School, she serves as the support for SEES. Fuuka is a shy junior, thought to be sickly by members of her class (although this turns out to be a rumor to cover up her sudden disappearance). Unlike the other members of SEES, she does not have any fighting abilities, nor does her Persona. Instead she takes Mitsuru's place as the team's tactical support. Fuuka's role is to forecast where Shadows can be found in Tartarus or during the Dark Hour, analyze the weaknesses of various enemies, and give commentary on battles. She also provides information on the medical/combat status of the team.

A reliable and serious character whose cold exterior masks his weaker, gentler self. Shinjiro's difficult past weighs him down, causing him to constantly push others away with a tough-guy act. Shinjiro is Akihiko Sanada's childhood friend and was an orphan at the same orphanage. He is a Senior in Gekkoukan High School, although he doesn't attend class often. In battle, Shinjiro relies on his brute strength and wields a heavy axe. Tough-talking, foul-mouthed Shinjiro was one of the original Persona users who made up SEES, alongside Akihiko and Mitsuru Kirijo. But during one fateful mission his Persona went out of control and accidentally killed an innocent bystander: Ken Amada's mother. Shinjiro forced himself away from the group after the incident. He began skipping school and living as an outcast. He also started doing shady deals in order to get suppressants that could help control his Persona. Shinjiro and Akihiko have stayed in touch over the years, but Shinjiro refuses Akihiko's invitations to rejoin SEES until he learns that Ken has decided to join their group. He is fully aware of Ken's vendetta and is ready to take responsibility for his actions. Though he puts on a brave front, the guilt of having killed an innocent woman ate away at him.

A cool and well-respected upperclassman, Akihiko is serious and determined, as well as cracking small jokes on small occasions, and tends to show his excitement for a big challenge. He also has an aggressive side, which he usually demonstrates when dealing with Shadows. He never gives up and always tries to get stronger in order to protect what is dear to him and feels guilty for not being able to save his sister, Miki, from the fire. He acts like an older brother for the younger SEES members. Akihiko is on good terms with Shinjiro and keeps in touch with him even after he quit SEES, and cares a lot for him, as shown when Akihiko finds out about the drugs Shinjiro uses in order to prevent his Persona from going berserk. Despite his rather cool and disciplined demeanor, Akihiko is frequently dragged into Junpei's various antics, where he, unlike his usual self, often starts to panic and completely lose his composure. Akihiko is often depicted as aloof, and in some cases, completely unaware of the fanbase of female students, who often follow him around school. He finds this irritating and will sometimes complain to the protagonist about it. He is eager to train and fight, to a fault.

  • It's his choice. He's the only one who can decide how he's going to live his life.

  • I've been waiting for this!

  • M-Mitsuru's here too?! Oh, man. There's no way she'll consider this just a "misunderstanding"!

Ryoji is very flirtatious and lively while also having a kind, gentle, caring and empathetic personality. However, like Junpei, Ryoji can be very perverted at times (usually when they are together), and it is heavily implied that he is a bit of a voyeur, as evidenced during the events at the hot springs at Kyoto. Ryoji shows up as a transfer student, claiming his parents are working overseas. Ryoji's flirtatious personality immediately gains people's attention and his frequent antics with Junpei causes him to often get on Yukari's nerves. Aigis continually expresses an unknown feeling of hostility toward him and repeatedly warns Makoto to keep his guard up around Ryoji. Despite the warnings, Ryoji later befriends Junpei Iori and Yukari Takeba, along with Makoto and the other members of SEES. He proclaims to be from a rich family, and is apparently very popular with his classmates. During a school trip, Ryoji, Junpei, Akihiko, and Makoto attempt to get in a hotspring with the girls by "mistaking" the time. Eventually, Yukari, Mitsuru, Fuuka, and Aigis show up in the hotspring, much to Akihiko's panic and fear.

  • Did you know that this hot spring is open to guys at certain times and girls at others?

Ikutsuki's true personality is somewhat difficult to pinpoint as he exhibits a sharp shift after one point in the story. It can be argued that either one of his personalities were the real one, while the other was a manifestation simply to further his goals or a distortion based on the circumstances. While he is acting as the adviser of SEES, he is quite polite and sophisticated, never needing to change his tone or manner. He is friendly, always accompanied with a gentle smile and a set of bad puns to provide comedy relief when it is needed, and perhaps not needed. It is implied the chairman knows more than he lets on but nonetheless he is the main source of knowledge for the group regarding all things related to the Dark Hour and thus acts as guidance for the main cast. After the defeat of the twelve Shadows, Ikutsuki shows a very different side of him to the party at the entrance of Tartarus. Manipulative, his dialogue speckled with evidence of his twisted savior complex, and his lack of remorse for what he's done; a grin befitting an insane man confirms that he is far from the chairman the cast has known.

  • Would you believe me if I said that a day consists of more than 24 hours?

  • We're the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad or SEES for short. On paper, we're classified as a school club. But in reality, this group is dedicated to defeating the Shadows.

  • It is not unexpected that Tartarus and the Dark Hour remain. In fact, I never intended to rid the world of them. Quite the opposite, actually.

Pharos' personality is lonesome, curious, and he has amnesia from the beginning. He seems to know about the Dark Hour, Tartarus, Shadows, the Ordeal to the next Shadow to every full moon, and to know about "The Fall". Pharos is an important figure in Persona 3, appearing as a young child, he is first seen upon the arrival of the Makoto in the dorm, where he gives Makoto a contract, prompting him to sign his name. It is later revealed that the contract that Pharos had Makoto sign allows him to access the Velvet Room, with his reasons and purpose unknown. He is shown to have a certain understanding towards the Shadows, and upon Makoto's first attempt of summoning his Persona, Pharos can be seen smiling in front of Makoto, encouraging him to fire the Evoker. Pharos is shown to be residing within Makoto's psyche, where he shows up only within the period of the Dark Hour. It should also be noted that Pharos can only be heard and seen by Makoto. Pharos constantly speaks of "the Fall", and would often reveal vague hints of the Dark Hour's nature, along with the "ordeals" every full moon.
