Project Overview
The Owl House follows Luz, a self-assured teenage girl who accidentally stumbles upon a portal to a magical world where she befriends a rebellious witch, Eda, and an adorably tiny warrior, King. Despite not having magical abilities, Luz pursues her dream of becoming a witch by serving as Eda's apprentice at the Owl House and ultimately finds a new family in an unlikely setting.

Personality: Luz is kind-hearted, outgoing, eccentric, geeky girl. She is eager to find her place in the world and be accepted for who she feels she truly is. She is seen as an outcast on Earth due to making herself seem strange and difficult to engage with by her peers, school staff and her own mother, leading to her having no friends besides imaginary ones or reptilians.

I stayed here because I wanted to learn magic, right? I wanted to be a witch like Eda and Azura. But what does that even mean? And I read stories like this. The main character always has to return home, and what? Did I expect to be a witch back in Connecticut?

Age: 14
Personality: Amity is described as bright and competitive. Initially Luz's adversary, she later becomes Luz's girlfriend after bonding with her.

Say you're not a witch![To Willow] You were never too weak to be my friend. I was too weak to be yours. I can't take back what I've done, but I can promise this, I won't let Boscha and her gang pick on you ever again! I'm not actually gonna rip it because it's a real butterfly, but you get the gesture, right?
The Golden Guard? He is a lot... scrawnier than I imagined.
Full Name: Willow Park
Age: 14
Personality: Willow is described as a bubbly and friendly witch. At first, she was shown to be shy with Amity, as she calls her "Half-a-Witch Willow", and often made fun of Willow's poor capability of creating and manipulating abominations. Despite being childhood friends with Amity, Willow grew to resent her due to her selfishness and cruelty towards her, seemingly after gaining her magical powers before Willow. To get her anger out, Willow uses plants that grow huge and grabs any physical object in her way. If she does harm somebody, she is fast to apologize to them.

[To Amity] I remember what you did too, what you did in there. I can’t say we’re friends, but it’s... a start.

Age: 12
Personality: Gus is a young and precocious witch. He is known for being very enthusiastic and excitable; when Luz gives him his nickname, he flips out in sheer joy. Due to being an illusionist, he tends to have a dramatic flair when making statements and presenting things.

Now, introducing our Grom queen. You know her, you love her... you've at least heard of her. Luz, the Human!
It finally happened! Our memorable adventures caught up to us. Oh, my dad can't find out about this! I guess I'll have to start surviving off the land.
Dad wants me to become a master illusionist, but that's easy. So instead, I'll become an ambassador to the human realm and re-establish contact with the giraffes!
Full Name: Hunter
Age: 16
Personality: Hunter is the nephew and right-hand man of Emperor Belos. Despite his high-ranking position and upper-class status, he never takes advantage of his power for personal gain, only using his authority when ordered by Emperor Belos himself. He shows respect towards his boss, yet quite a bit of hubris and egotism towards anyone else. He is, however, an opportunist who is willing to use blackmail or extortion to manipulate others.
Hunter appears to be very loyal to Emperor Belos at first, even worrying about his uncle's condition, occasionally offering alternatives to help Emperor Belos with wild magic, but also fearing his reaction to the mere mention of it. However, his loyalty is not absolute.
Despite his laid-back persona, Hunter appears to be easily annoyed when things don't go his way, as seen with his interactions with Luz. He also seems to have a fascination with wild magic, despite his uncle telling him not to, and is seen nerding out over it with Luz. He also seems to have a soft side, being visibly affected by Luz's words when he tried to double-cross her, and seems to genuinely care for his new palisman.

A lot of my ancestors were. I never thought I'd have a future in a world like this. But then, Belos found me and gave me a staff with artificial magic. He said the Titan had big plans for me.
[To Amity, having a breakdown] Since I failed my last mission I thought: "Hey, a chance to make up for it!" But I can't go back empty-handed! Not again. Long story short, this is my grave. Want me to make you one too?
Full Name: Edalyn "Eda" Clawthorne
Age: Mid-40s
Personality: Confident and sassy, Eda is best described as rebellious. Her vast skills and aptitude in witchcraft give her a brash streak, as she proudly declares her power and is openly defiant of authorities, going as far as knocking a guard unconscious and flying off to avoid getting caught. Eda is described as the sort of teacher that would not only throw someone into the deep end, but also set the entire body of water on fire.
It's shown that she has a caring side to her and she is willing to protect the people she holds most dear, such as when she protects Luz multiple times, being close to a mother figure for her. She also deeply cares about Lilith despite them both being on different sides of the law. It also seems she is afraid of losing her friends, and as such tries to ignore the idea of them leaving.

When I was younger, I was cursed. I don't know exactly how it happened, all I know is that if I don't take my elixir... Well, that's why people call me the Owl Lady. No one likes having a curse, but if you take the right steps, it's manageable.
[Eda to Raine] Ha! Raine's Rhapsody, more like Eda's Requiem, am I right? I'll leave the playing to the professionals. Call if you need me.
Full Name: Lilith Clawthorne
Age: Mid-to-Late-40s
Personality: Unlike Eda, Lilith is conservative, straight-laced, and generally law-abiding. She takes great pride in her role as a mentor and was initially surprised to see Eda at the latest Covention, believing she had finally decided to join a coven, only for her sister to laugh at the notion. She also has a tense sibling rivalry with Eda due to them being almost equal in terms of power and on opposite sides of the law; regardless, she still genuinely cares for Eda.

Personality: King is loud, feisty, self-centered, expressive, lazy, comedic and constantly laughs at anything that gives him enjoyment.

I'm so sorry, Luz. I just wanted you to be into demons like you're into magic. I don't have many friends, and no one even pays that much attention to me. I thought maybe if I taught you, finally, someone would care about creatures like me.
I don’t need you to tell me to love myself, Hooty. I want to know where I came from. What my Dad looked like. What I’ll look like when I grow up. I don’t have any responses to my video, yet, or my wanted posters. Maybe my Dad is gone, maybe there’s no one else like me, and I’ll live my whole life without any answers!
Full Name: Hooty
Personality: Hooty is shown to be jovial and a very welcoming creature, often greeting visitors to the Owl House and trying to be accepted as part of a group activity. He's a talkative guy and claims to have many stories of his experiences to share, but he rarely, if ever, gets to share them since most people, including the inhabitants of the Owl House, consider him to be annoying.

Fear not, maiden. Hooty, the guardian owl of Ga'Hoot, has protected you once more! Ga'Hoot!
Full Name: Belos
Age: 60+
Personality: Described as omnipotent and megalomaniacal, Belos is shown to be a strict and commanding figure, often being impatient and intolerant of failure from his subordinates. Despite his intolerance of failure, Belos can be quite lenient towards servants that he values highly enough, such as the case with Lilith and her constant failures to capture her sister, but even that lenience has limits. His authority is shown to be a powerful one that garners fear and respect. He is not above lying, having made a promise to Lilith he had no intention of keeping.
Belos is shown to have some sort of familial attachment to his nephew, Hunter, having taken him in and taught him artificial magic. However, the genuineness of this attachment is unclear as Belos is also shown to be dismissive and physically abusive towards Hunter.

[To Lilith] I'm getting bored of your excuses, Lilith. Don't worry, I'll give you the time you need. Bring the Owl Lady to me by twilight. She'll join the Emperor's Coven and in return, I'll heal her little curse. But, if you fail... you will be stripped of your rank and banished from my coven. You do know what happens to covenless witches, don't you?
[To Hunter] Please, be careful. Our family is gone because of wild magic. I can't let the same happen to you. Find me more Palismen. I can depend on you, right?
[To Hunter] Everyone has a use, Hunter. Kikimora has her intricate little plans, the scouts carry out orders, and you... well, the Titan has big plans for you, and it would such a hassle to find a replacement. So, right now, you can be useful by staying safe in the castle.
Full Name: Kikimora
Personality: Kikimora is Emperor Belos’ assistant who delivers his orders to other subordinates inside or outside the Emperor’s Coven. Kikimora is a prim and professional individual, being exceptionally well versed in the accepted history of the Boiling Isles. Being a personal attendant to Belos, Kikimora is immensely loyal to the Emperor and carries out his commandments with visible relish, encouraging a worshipful attitude towards Belos and his vision. Much like Belos, she appears to have a low tolerance for failure or for dissidence. She is particularly subtle in her hostilities, choosing to admonish those who displease her quietly. Regardless, it can be inferred that many of her subordinates are fearful of her.
Despite her high station and her loyalty to Belos, Kikimora appears to be somewhat cowardly when confronted head-on.

Age: 14
Personality: Boscha is a rude and impudent witch, unafraid to insult and/or humiliate those she looks down upon with hardly any regret, especially Luz and Willow. She is also very controlling, often ordering her friends around and acting as a self-appointed ringleader.
