Our Life: Beginnings & Always - Baxter DLC - [CLOSED]

Our Life: Beginnings & Always - Baxter DLC - [CLOSED]

Project Overview

Hello!

March 22nd Update: We’re no longer accepting auditions. Thank you to everyone who reached out! All the submissions will be considered for the role.

April 7th Update: Here's the cast for the friendly folks you'll be meeting in Baxter's version of Step 4! Thank you very much to the wonderful VAs who joined Our Life.

Jude Eckert: Jay M. @JtasticVA

Scott Adam: Conner Allison @ConnerAllisonVA

Xavier Valenti: Carolina Hoyos @agirliknowmusic

We’re adding partial voice acting to a new expansion for our commercial visual novel “Our Life: Beginnings & Always”. It’s a slice-of-life story with comedy, romance, drama, and many wonderful memories to make. The main game has already been released (you can read more about it HERE), but we’re working on adding a new story for one of the side characters, Baxter Ward.

General Info:

Payment: $100USD

Word Estimate: 70-100 words

Voiced swearing: None

Paid Through: Paypal

Age Requirement: 18 or older

Communication: Email or Discord

Line Format: WAV or MP3

Number of Open Roles: 3

Other Notes:

  • Line recording will start once the VA is officially on the team, which should be in late March 2023.

  • The VA doesn’t have to identify as the same gender as a character in order to audition for that character.

  • Our Life: Beginnings & Always is for general audiences, but we did put out a little side story on our Patreon that’s 18+ for sexual content. The extra scene includes adult-aged characters only, is unvoiced, a separate download from the real game, and won’t release outside of the Patreon. So it’s not a part of what the VAs would be contributing to, but there is suggestive content that exists in relation to the Our Life franchise.

Auditioning:

  • Please have clear audio with no background noise.

  • Please don’t edit the pitch of your voice or add other alterations. General clean-up is okay!

  • Two to three takes are preferred, but not required.

  • Our Life is a low-key story, the character speaking style is down to earth. We don’t require extra oomph that a more energetic/comedic project might.

Thank you for visiting our casting call and good luck to everyone who auditions!

Voice: Low or medium pitch, warm, speaks evenly

Accent: North American generally or Californian specifically

Pronouns: He/Him

Role: Side character

Jude grew up in the nearest city to the small town of Sunset Bird, Prism Vista. He is an exceptionally laid back and informal kind of dude. He takes everything in stride, unless he’s really under pressure.  Despite being several years older than the rest of the cast, there’s nothing intimidating or hard to gel with about him.

Jude is very much into competitive-multiplayer gaming, but he’s the kind of guy where that’s the only tangentially geek-culture hobby he has. Other than that, he likes sports, cars, the outdoors, and socializing. However, he’s happy to compromise with his soon-to-be husband on their differing hobbies. Even if sometimes Jude needs to reel Scott in when he’s going overboard on something.

Voice: Medium or high pitch, sharp, speaks emotively

Accent: North American generally or Midwestern specifically

Role: Side character

Scott’s only connection to the Sunset Bird group and the area as a whole is his fiancé, Jude. He lived in the Midwest most of his life where he had a long-distance relationship. A couple years ago he moved to California to live with and marry Jude. He’s a friendly guy but still a bit awkward about where he stands in the larger social circle. He tries his best to get along with everyone and sometimes overcompensates for all the time he wasn’t there.

Scott met Jude playing games online and the both of them still play together to this day. But gaming is the tip of the iceberg for his nerdier interests. He’s significantly more into internet and geek culture than his partner. When he gets invested in something, Scott is all in. Sometimes he helps Jude find some enthusiasm beyond his normal chill attitude.

Xavier owns and runs the bakery Xake. They are the head decorator there as well. Xavier is acquainted with Baxter through work. Baxter is a wedding planner, and Xavier often makes wedding cakes, along with the normal day-to-day pastries they sell in store.

Xavier is friendly, artistic, and playful. Though they’re not immature. They’re a good few years older than Baxter and generally more self-aware and honest than he is. They see Baxter as a friend rather than just someone they work with, but they accommodate Baxter’s difficulties with having meaningful relationships. With all their acquaintances, they put in effort without being pushy.
