One Piece Manga Fandub - Arlong Park Arc
Project Overview
Introduction
Welcome to my fandub for the One Piece Manga. This is our 3rd casting call for this series and this is for the entirety of the Arlong Park saga. We are currently working on our 6th volume of the series and would love for some more great VAs to join our growing cast of talented actors! We have multiple manga dubs going on at the moment but our One Piece one is definitely the largest. These dubs are for fun, but I am striving to create a good quality product for each one, to give the cast involved something to be proud as well as ourselves. We know it's not always easy getting experience, and I want these projects to be a high quality project for people of any experience level to either just have fun doing or so people wanting to get more experience and for everyone to have something they're proud of to share.
What I'm Looking For
Due to this and future projects like this being fandubs, unfortunately I am not able to offer monetary compensation due to copyright. Although it is unpaid though I would like to still have a level of professionalism and quality to the project. So I will be looking for people with:
- Because this is a very long series, please audition for the main cast or supporting characters that reoccur later on, only if you are willing to commit to a long term project. Other than the main crew the commitment isn't overly large for supporting characters but we would like to avoid having to change later on. If you aren't able to commit to long term though feel free to audition for extras, minor roles or supporting roles that do not reappear later in the story, so we don't have to recast if you have to leave.
- Good quality microphone, preferably XLR but if you have a USB mic do not let that deter you from auditioning since it is the sound quality I'm looking for and that's still definitely achievable with some USB mics.
- 2-3 takes max per line
- Only basic post processing done to audio, as raw as possible.
- Little to no background noise, reverb or echo. Some we can definitely work with but if there is too much of any of these it greatly takes away from the quality of the audio and can be very jarring to listen to when mixed in with other audio.
- Discord is definitely preferred but not mandatory by any means but will make things much easier to work on the project as a whole.
- A good attitude! I'm hoping to form a great group of people to continue working with me on these projects going forward and that is obviously much easier if you can get along well with me and the rest of the team!
Parts
Considering the size of this manga, there are a huge amount of roles that are available and will continue to be available going forward. Aside from the main roles, many of which we still need to cast, we have a large need for many versatile VA's for voicing many of the minor and extra characters. If you are auditioning for a bigger role, feel free to let us know in your audition that you are interested in voicing extras as well. If you have a demo reel feel free to send that on the extras listing or you can send it to me directly on discord as well.

Captain Nezumi is a scummy Marine Captain that is working for the Arlong Pirates. He looks and talks like a rat, fitting his character perfectly. He has being paid off for years to aid and ignore crimes from Arlong and his crew. He appears a few times throughout the saga, showing how horrible of a person he is more and more each time.

Arlong is the leader of the Arlong pirates and known as one of the strongest fishmen. He is a cruel and heartless creature who would do anything for money. The only thing he cares about is money and his fishman brethren. He took over Nami's village 8 years ago and has been ruling over them as a cruel tyrant ever since. He has no qualms about killing a human for any reason, and believes they are an inferior species that is comparable to rats.
Arlong is the biggest new character for this arc and needs someone that can fully capture his character from the cruel and cold parts, to the arrogant and cocky parts, to the over the top extreme rage.

Hatchi is the only one of the fishmen that comes back in any real role later other than flashbacks. Hatchan or Hatchi is the octopus of the group and Zoro's main opponent for the final battle of the saga. He is not always the brightest fishman, and even aids Zoro unknowingly after he slaughtered a whole bunch of his brothers and then is totally clueless afterwards about it.
He does become an ally later on when he returns to the series and shows he was never really a bad guy, he just was following what he felt was best.

Chabo is a little boy from the village over from Cocoyashi that was completely destroyed by Arlong. His dad was killed and he attempts to go fight Arlong himself for revenge but is ultimately stopped by Nami. He appears a few times throughout the arc, usually talking with Nojiko.
The voice is about the age of a 10 year old boy, the VA needs to be able to emote though because although he doesn't have a huge amount of lines, many of them are very emotional. He is extremely heartbroken and angry at the loss of his father and that needs to be able to come through
Hey, you! Stop right there! I'm going to kill Arlong! He killed my dad! So if you don't get outta my way, I'll kill you too! *Terrified and trying to be brave with tears streaming down his face*
I found you, fishman...! I'll avenge my dad's death!!
They brought along that huge monster I've never seen before and... Pillaged and destroyed my entire town...! They killed so many people!
*Crying but trying to hold back the tears* uuu.... What... What am I supposed to do then...? It's so... frustrating...!
They've sent a ship for us! Some of the survivors from my village managed to contact the government!
Nojiko is Nami's adopted sister and a big part of her home arc. She is portrayed both as a young adult as well as a younger girl so ideally I would like the same person to be able to voice both roles. She acts like she believes Nami is the cold heartless person everyone else pretends to think as well but she deeply cares about her sister and hates to see her going through the pain she's going through.
When she's younger especially, she is part of one of the saddest scenes in probably a big portion of the series, definitely thus far. So whoever voices Nojiko needs to be able to emote convincingly to be able to really help make that scene.

It's fine, no one on our side has died yet...! And not only that... It may be almost too much to believe, because those fishmen have robbed us of our hope until now but... With this fight, I'm starting to believe that there's still hope for us all...!

Genzo is the head of Cocoyashi village and almost like a surrogate dad for Nami. He has watched the girls grow up and has always cared deeply about them, just as he did for Bellemere. He almost gave his life trying to protect Nami when she was little from Arlong, which is what caused him to have scars all over his body now. Still he willingly is prepared to go face down Arlong, knowing he would die after seeing how he betrayed Nami and hurt her.

Chuu is one of Arlong's officers and is the one that battles Usopp in the final battle of Arlong Park. He is easily remembered for his "chu" sound he randomly makes all the time. He is pretty chill most of the time but eventually Usopp does manage to get under his skin and he starts losing his temper.

Kuroobi is one of Arlong's top officers and a high ranking user of Fishman Karate. One of the top masters of fishman karate, his skills are extremely strong. He is one of the coldest of the Arlong pirates and is the first to become suspicious of Nami's intentions, even before she decides to go against them. He is Sanji's main battle for the arc.

Bellemere is Nami and Nojiko's adopted mother. She was a marine once and found them orphaned and took them in. She raised them herself and did her best even though they didn't have much money. She would rather die than pretend that the girls aren't her family and would do anything to protect them.
Bellemere is part of one of the more sad stories in the series and definitely the saddest in the saga thus far. So whoever voices her really needs to be able to bring the character and her scenes alive.

Doctor Nako is the doctor of Cocoyashi village and also the tattoo artist for Nami and Nojiko. He was the one that helped Bellemere save the girls when they were first found by treating them and has helped care for them since. He is ready to fight alongside the rest of the town for their freedom, even knowing they would die.
His voice is a bit more gruff and scratchy since he is a bit older. I could not find a reference clip unfortunately though.

All the ships in the village have been sunk... Even our idea, of sending Nami and Nojiko away on a boat is now.... *Depressed and lost hope*
With the amount of work we are currently producing we are very open to having help with the editing. Because of the nature of the project, we aren't able to provide compensation for this role either unfortunately, but if you are interested in gaining more experience and credits to your name, or just love the content and would like to work on a project for fun, we would love to hear from you!
Our main editor for this project unfortunately had to step down due to not having any time, so we are in need for a lead editor to take over. The editing for the manga's is going to be fairly simple, just lots of transitions and words loading as speech is being overlaid. As well as inputting the audio tracks into the video as well obviously. Because this project is our biggest project and very action packed usually, we would love to have someone that's able to use different effects to bring the episodes to life.
