Project Overview

Occhi Lucidi is an animated, surrealist short film about a man overcome by his anxiety. Jakob has been invited to hang out by one of his friends, and earnestly wants to go. But his self doubts and fears, manifested as a giant floating eyeball, try to sabotage his plans. Incapable of ignoring or destroying the eyeball, Jakob is swarmed by his negative thoughts until Max, his best friend, arrives and helps him through it. This is a student film for the School of Visual Arts, and has a student budget. Each role will be paid $3 per line. 


The official deadline is January 29th, but I'd love to get this casted as soon as possible so please don't wait to audition!

  • NEW DEADLINE

    Hi everyone! I'm so grateful for all the submissions so far, I've mentioned that this is my first time using this site and I really wasn't expecting this many auditions so quickly! Because of this though, I've decided to close the project early.

    I want to be able to listen to every audition very carefully and it's getting harder to do that as the number keeps going up!

    So if anyone reading this was thinking of auditioning and hasn't yet, please know that the NEW DEADLINE IS TODAY (Jan 25th) AT 7pm EASTERN STANDARD TIME !!

    (Also if you have already auditioned, I just want to say thank you, there's so many amazing takes so far and you're all making this decision very difficult lol)

  • Pay Clarification

    Hello, this is my first time using this site and I feel like the pay isn't displaying correctly under the character descriptions. So just to clarify, the pay is $3 per line!! Not every character has the same amount of lines!

    As of right now (script still being finalized) the VA for Jakob will make roughly $30-40

    The VA for Max will make roughly $20-30

    And the VA for EYE will make roughly $100-120

    I wish I could pay everyone more, but I'm on a student budget. Thank you for understanding! Sorry if there was any confusion!

Jakob is a man in his mid-20s. He is awkward and reserved around others, but on his own he's louder and more sarcastic. His snarky personality comes out when he talks to EYE, who is a manifestation of his own negative thoughts. He struggles with social anxiety and frequently argues with himself over how to handle situations. He is constantly tired/ exasperated. He wants nothing more than to be able to hang out with his best friend Max, without second guessing himself and being afraid of ruining the relationship somehow. 


In my head he kind of sounds like Mordecai from Regular Show, but any male voices in the right age range are welcome. 


This is a surreal horror film, so there will be cartoon body horror that will require screaming/yelling/loud gasps/pained noises. If you could include a sample of various yelling in your audition that would be much appreciated!

Max is Jakob's best friend. They are nonbinary, in their early 20s, and go by They/She pronouns. They are warm, confident, and extremely supportive. They get angry when they see their friends in pain. They help Jakob calm down when he's essentially having a panic attack by breathing with him.  


This role requires surprised gasping, and deep breathing noises.


Nonbinary actors preferred! Voice can be masc, fem, androgynous, anything at all!

EYE is a giant floating eyeball. It is a manifestation of Jakob's social anxiety, and voices all of his negative thoughts out loud. It has a judgmental, authoritative, monotone voice. (Almost robotic/unnatural), but can have a teasing quality on some lines. It can duplicate itself at will. 


I imagine the voice to be male, because it is Jakob's inner monologue, but I'm open to different voices/genders too. The most important thing is nailing that unnatural, judgy tone. 


(Performances will be layered on top of each other in post when there are multiple EYEs speaking at once). 


EYE has the most lines and will be paid roughly $105 ($3 per line, script still being finalized)
