Ninjago: Lost - More roles to be added soon
Project Overview
Hello, everyone! This casting call is for "Ninjago: Lost". Ninjago: Lost is a short film that focused on Kai and how he feels left out from the group.
We're casting for a slew of voices to be used throughout the film. People who audition may be asked to provide lines for additional, smaller roles not featured on Character list. If you're not cast for a main role, and your voice matches the tone of the show, we may ask you to provide lines for supporting roles in the production.
All roles are in the English language.
Everyone cast will be featured in the description and end credits of the video. If you ask to be anonymous you can be.
DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
The deadline for auditions is Mar 01, 2023. There are currently no plans to extend this deadline. We'll notify voice actors who have been cast in roles by the next month and send scripts to voice actors a few weeks after. We need to receive all lines back from voice actors at most a month after the scripts are sent.
WHAT TO EXPECT
We communicate primarily through Discord. If you are unfamiliar with either of these applications, you can still audition, however, we strongly, strongly recommend participation through Discord so that you can collaborate with your fellow voice actors.
WHAT WE WILL ASK OF YOU IF CAST
- Please submit clean recordings on prosumer mics (no air conditioners in the background, no fans -- we don't mind performing noise reduction on your files, however too much clean-up reduces the quality of your voice). And speaking of clean-up -- please let us handle the post-production. Don't add effects to your lines.
- Feel free to cut your lines to your best/favorite takes. Three is the gold standard. We have a few voice actors that would rather give us more takes, and that's okay, too. However please at least remove the takes you don't want to be featured.
- Please submit your recordings as one .wav file to our company email address, which will be provided to you after casting. If a file is too large to submit via email, we prefer to use Google Drive.
- We do occasionally ask for line re-dos, but we do this sparingly and only after great consideration - we realize your time is valuable, and we won't ask for anything we can't work around in edits.
- Lastly, since we are planning on multiple shorts after the film. We'd like to cast people who will be able to stick with us for a while. When starting a new project, we frequently return to voice actors we've worked with in the past. Still, audition if you think you wouldn't be able to work with us in the future.

Kai is a tough, brave, confident, passionate ninja. The most prevalent facet of Kai's personality is his good heart and dedication to the people he cares about—if someone can earn his friendship, he will stop at nothing to protect them. Much of his stubbornness and recklessness is due to his desire to help his loved ones, either directly or by becoming strong enough to defeat anyone who might threaten them with their plans.

I know. No matter how much fire you have, experience isn't something you learn overnight. That may work for you, Nya, but I'm gonna be a better blacksmith than Dad ever was.
Ninja? Huh, you're a long way from finding a ninja in these parts, old man. And the shop is called "Four Weapons," not "For Browsing." Either buy something or go peddle your insults somewhere else.
Kai: If it's something special you're looking for, let me sh— (Wu disappears.) He was just... forget it.
I knew when I had to make a choice. I wanted the Fangblade so badly, to prove I was good enough to become the Green Ninja. But then I figured it out. All of my training to become the best ninja wasn't in preparation to become the Green Ninja. It was... to protect him.
Who says the great and powerful Green Ninja needs a team? You seem to be holding down the fort on your own.
It's the Red Shogun now. And where's the Master of Ice, huh? He's gone, but I'm still here. Who cares about honor? It should've been me. I should've been the one—
Wu would develop an incredibly eccentric and mysterious personality, often instructing others with cryptic hints, and would often avoid being straightforward, confusing everyone with his strange methods and ways. Wise because of his years of experience, Wu had an enormous amount of forethought and skilled intelligence, triumphing over several enemies as a result. Incredibly graceful, even when losing, Wu would be willing to sacrifice his life under any circumstances to protect others. Despite this, Master Wu also had a more silly and playful side.

Long before time had a name, Ninjago was created by the First Spinjitzu Master, by using the Four Weapons of Spinjitzu: The Scythe of Quakes, the Nunchucks of Lightning, the Shurikens of Ice, and the Sword of Fire. Weapons are so powerful, no one can handle all of their power at once. When he passed away, his two sons swore to protect them, but the oldest was consumed by darkness and wanted to possess them. A battle between brothers broke out, and the oldest was struck down and banished to the Underworld. Peace returned, and the younger brother hid the weapons, but knowing his older brother's relentless ambition for power, he placed a guardian to protect them. And for fear of his own demise, a map for an honest man to hide. That honest man was your father. The older brother is Lord Garmadon. And I need to find those weapons before he does.
Never put off until tomorrow what can be done today.
The best way to defeat your enemy is to make them your friend.
Lloyd is the wise leader of the team and is fully dedicated to the way of the ninja. Once a mischievous and easily distracted child, after becoming the Green Ninja, he has since grown into a quiet and mature guy. He is deeply fond of his friends and family and will stop at nothing to defend them, even prioritizing their safety over his own. He is goodhearted and at times naïve, making him an easy target of deception by his enemies. Lloyd is one of the calmer and mellowed members of the team. He has been through much tragedy in his life, but has taken it in stride and channels his losses into becoming a better ninja—and eventually master.

If Sensei doesn't have a lesson, then I do. I used to be nothing but trouble, but then I met you guys. You took me in. Showed me the importance of being brave, the importance of being strong. And most importantly, being good. (Groans) When this battle first began, when the First Spinjitzu Master fought the Overlord and his back was up against the wall and he knew it was all over, did he quit? No. He found a way to keep the fight going. He passed his Elemental Powers to us. Of all people, a bunch of kids. But there must have been a reason he chose us. I'd like to think it's because he knew we'd never back down, we'd never give up. We've learned the ancient ways of the ninja. And ninja never quit.
I get it, Kai. You've ran out of bad guys to fight out there, you've got to come to a place like this. But where's the honor in that? Where's the Master of Fire?
You always thought you should've been the one. First, it was being the Green Ninja, now this. When are you gonna start thinking of someone other than yourself? If you change your mind, you know where I'll be.

Cole used to be more uptight and strategic, disapproving of Kai's impulsiveness. Before meeting Wu, Cole lacked direction and purpose. As a ninja, Cole thoroughly enjoys helping others in need and feels accomplished with a job well done.

Well, supposedly, the Blade Cup was made by this guy who collected priceless artifacts. His name was something like, uh, Dutch...no, Clutch. Clutch Powers! Anyway, it gets passed on to each year's winner.
Are you saying there isn't going to be cake!
Jay is the most light-hearted and energetic of the ninja. He is always telling jokes, most of which are only funny to himself. He usually does this to cover up fear and anxiety. He is also sensitive in both positive and negative ways and thinking. He enjoys boasting about his abilities, such as inventing and poetry, much to the annoyance of the others, but he proves to be a good friend and a skilled fighter. He is also somewhat high-strung, typically being the first to panic in dire situations.

Although she was not trained as a ninja early on, she is very capable of defending herself. She did not like the fact that so much focus is put on the ninja, so she resolved to become a hero in her own way, which she did by becoming Samurai X, and is highly independent, desiring the choice and ability to choose her own identity and destiny.

Lord Garmadon is the Master of Destruction, as well as the ninja's archenemy-turned-ally and former mentor. He is the First Spinjitzu Master's firstborn son, Wu's older brother, Misako's husband, and Lloyd's father.

Don't you see? I will never do what is right. The evil in my blood can never go away! It has corrupted every ounce of my fiber, every bone in my body. I am Lord Garmadon! Destiny took my family from me, and the only way for us to be together is to turn everything in this world into my image! Then you'll all see what I see, feel what I feel!
Master/treat all the raw audio. We're talking about a bit more knowledge than normalization or noise reduction. Please know, and how to work with treatments to audio like equalizing, compression, and limiting. We want to ensure all raw audio sounds 'are as similar and clean as they can be; that the best qualities (brightening, deepening, etc) are brought out for each voice. Software is your choice.
As all of our VAs have at least "good" equipment and microphones. Audio is submitted in WAV format, to begin with, no raw audio sounds overly messy or of poor quality.
We're also hoping to find someone who can work with SFX to place creatively in the dubs. SFX must be sourced from all legal sources, free or with proper licenses; or of course, if you make your own. If you only work with audio, still please apply.
Proper credit for all resources and work is always listed. UNPAID, ONGOING GIG.
- Please list 2-3 samples of audio you worked on and describe how you enhanced the audio.
- If you also do SFX work, please list 2-3 samples of your SFX work and details about it (like if you made the SFX, sourced them, modified them, etc)
