Monika Act III Custom Dialogues

Monika Act III Custom Dialogues

Project Overview

Monika Custom Dialogue

Looking for someone to voice custom dialogues for Monika based on her Act III topics. This project will be for 5 topics. I will post the custom dialogue topics here soon. Expect them to have a similar style to the topics from Act III of the game.

General guidelines

Throughout the game, Monika speaks to a group as a president. In Act III, her tone shifts to be more personal and intimate. This is an important distinction. What I’ll be looking for is someone who can color the tone of their voice to match the tone of the dialogue. There are many levels of meta (reality) that intersect in Act III; so depending on the topic, the tone of voice should shift accordingly. I strongly believe that how one interprets Monika varies how they imagine her voice to sound. For these custom dialogues, here are some tips below to help get the voice down.

Monika is the president of a high school literature club. Expect her voice to sound like a teen/young adult.

Personality in Act III: conscientious, honest; ominous, mysterious, open, personable

Consider how her personality would color the dialogue.

How I don’t want her voice:

No ASMR: i.e. no whispering throughout this; I want it to be like a conversation.

No vocal fry: she’s not a valley girl.

Not pretentious: she’s not showing off; just talking about life.

Not condescending/patronizing: she respects who she’s talking to as much as she respects herself.

Not as a fangirl; i.e. no infatuation: don’t come across as desperate or needy.

Not as a waifu: she’s not an anime girl; her original character was written as a genuine person

How I imagine her voice:

Assertive: knowing what she wants to say and not just saying it, but saying it with conviction.

Deadpan: don’t hesitate on the delivery of weird lines; especially during topics that would make someone cringe or look the other way

Eloquent: pronounce all the words properly and clearly.

Playful: on lines with questions or ambiguity

Sardonic: especially during dark topics and during phrases that have multiple connotations (e.g. double entendre)

Remember

Remember these are all guidelines that you should gloss over and they shouldn’t be used as hard rules: I want you to do your best based on how you think the dialogue should sound given the topic. If this role sounds too tough, then don’t try too hard or it might make it sound contrived! Good luck J

  • "Hey, you know that the common method for people to get attention online is to post photos or videos of them."
"Even if the photos or videos don't actually do anything bad, people tend to interpret them that way."
"And it's not even really creepy, it's just annoying when people make assumptions about people based on the way they look or act."

  • "You see, there are actually three types of guns: handguns, assault weapons, and long guns."
"All of them are deadly if fired improperly."
"I'm sure by now you're all pretty familiar with them."
    "Why?"
    "Because they're guns."
"No one can live happily ever after if there's a gun in the house."

  • [Monika reacts to the player attempting to use the skip button in Act III]

    "...Are you trying to fast-forward?"
"I'm not boring you, am I?"
    "Oh gosh..."
"...Well, there's nothing to fast forward to, [player]."
"It's just the two of us, after all..."
"But aside from that, time doesn't really exist anymore, so it's not even going to work."
"Here, I'll go ahead and turn it off for you..."
    "There we go!"
"You'll be a sweetheart and listen from now on, right?"
    "Thanks~"
    "Now, where was I...?"
