Miitopia: The Animation! (Season 1)

Miitopia: The Animation! (Season 1)

Project Overview

Miitopia: The Animation is an adaptation/parody of the Nintendo game "Miitopia" written by yours truly.  Here is the description of the series from its Wattpad page:

This show is based on the Nintendo game of the same name but lacks the family-friendly quality. Miitopia was a peaceful place. That is, until the Dark Lord known as Alex Chang started stealing people's faces! There is only one Mii who can defeat this fiend: the clever, brave, and laid-back Daph-Nii, who got magical powers from a guardian spirit and made herself a thief by accident. Will she and her band of heroes (or heroines. You can't assume gender) defeat the Dark Lord Alex Chang and save the land? Read Miitopia to find out!

Or in this case, audition for Miitopia. Here are the scripts for the first season if you'd like to read them!

I am going to need plenty of voice work to make this series as well as an editor and some animators. There are a wide variety of characters, so I'll need a wide variety of voices.

Some other notes about the series:

  • In case you haven't figured out yet, this show isn't what you'd call family friendly. There are several instances of people saying some pretty bad words. If you're not comfortable swearing, there are multiple characters who do not swear. Characters who swear regularly will be marked as such.
  • Characters are listed in order of when they first speak. The most important characters won't necessarily be at the top.
  • I will be voicing Daph-Nii since I based her off of myself. No exceptions!
  • Communication will be set up through Discord. This is where I will be posting links to the scripts. I will also set up a Google Drive folder where you can upload your audio and video files. Please leave me your Discord tag, the e-mail address connected to your Google account, and your YouTube channel or any other sort of social media for me to credit you by in a note on your audition. I will set up the server and the folder once I start casting people.
  • This is only for characters debuting in Season 1. Once I finish the first season, I will be sending out a casting call for characters debuting in Season 2 and so on. Many characters who debut in Season 1 will also be featured in subsequent seasons. If that's the case, I will be listing all of the seasons each character appears in. I haven't finished planning out the whole series, so this isn't set in stone.
  • It might take a while to get every single part cast, so voice actors, if you're ready to go right away, you can record all of your lines and send them to me as soon as you want so you don't have to wait for everybody else. Just make sure each episode's lines are their own audio file. Animators and editors, however, you'll have to wait until all of the lines for a particular episode to be turned in before you can start working on it.
  • I don't really have any requirements for microphones or audio files or anything. You can record your lines on your phone in your closet for all I care. Just make sure there's not too much echo or background noise. AMATEUR VOICE ACTORS UNITE!
  • Season 1 is sixteen episodes long. Each episode should be around twenty-two minutes.
  • There are spoilers for the rest of the series. They do not leave this page.

Latest Updates

  • To everyone who's been cast

Congratulations to everyone who's been cast in these past two months. I guess I should stop slacking off and get the Discord server started up. I'll need everyone's Discord tag and e-mail linked to your Google account so I can start getting people together. As soon as you're in the server and the Google Drive folder, you can start recording your lines and uploading them to the respective episode's folder. There are also several roles that still need casting. Here they are in order of importance: -ANIMATORS! We can't have a cartoon without animators. I only have one application so far, so if there aren't any more animators by next month, we might be stuck with a one-animator crew. -Victor -Henrietta -Stas -Blanchard -Isaiah -Ma-Rii -Ava -Caroline (I can voice Ma-Rii and Caroline if no one auditions by next month.) -Steven -Gavin -Michael -There are also three very minor roles in episode 4 that I forgot to add with the others. They're two nameless teenagers who can be either gender and Anna, Victor's girlfriend. You don't need to audition for these. Just speak up in the Discord if you don't mind taking on an extra line. Please audition for as many roles as you like and reach out to other people who might want to try out. We can't make this happen unless all the roles are filled. I know this is the wrong franchise, but stay fresh!

Ideally, I would like four animators so that each one could have four episodes, but if I get fewer, I guess that's more work for each one. I don't think Casting Call Club will let me cast multiple people for one role, so if you get cast, there's a 75 percent chance you'll find out through direct message. I'm not sure whether I'd like this show to be 2D or 3D, but I would like all the animators to be the same for uniformity. I want the art style to be like the Mii style, with all of the characters and settings looking like they do in the game.

For your application, I would like you to animate a short opening sequence for the show. Here is a link to the opening music I have chosen for the first season: https://youtu.be/_HZ-GJNAgL0 Please submit your application in a public or unlisted video on YouTube.

Saralyn Tett, The Maven Mage

Role assigned to: FatefulNight

Saralyn is a powerful mage known as the Maven Mage for her expertise in magic and is mother to our heroine, Daph-Nii, though the audience doesn't know that until Season 2. She uses her magic to summon the Dark Lord in the first episode, but she comes to regret using her son, Alex, for such an evil task and seeks to reverse this wrong for the rest of the series.

In the first episode, Saralyn is a very mysterious and reserved figure, but as we come to know more and more about her, she becomes more of the mom friend who happens to be a mom. She is very confident in her magic abilities and likes to show them off every now and then, but she cares very deeply for her children and the rest of her younger companions.

For Saralyn's voice, I was thinking of something very middle-of-the-road, medium-pitched, no real accent. Saralyn's scenes can get emotional at times, so voicing her will require the full range of emotions, from crying out of guilt for leaving her husband and daughter so she could turn her son into a monster to absolute giddiness over her daughter finally returning after seventeen years.

Saralyn has a very small role at the very beginning of the first episode, being referred to only as "Maven" in the script, but she becomes one of Daph-Nii's traveling companions in Season 2 and an integral character in Season 4 onward.

Role assigned to: Litisun

The Dark Curse is a malicious spirit who gains power by possessing the bodies of the living, becoming the Dark Lord when he possesses a teenage boy named Alex and the Darker Lord when he possesses the Great Sage Henrietta. When he was alive, he was a simple Mii named Tristan who was in love with a beautiful mage-in-training named Saralyn, but after she scorned him, he killed himself by cutting off his face. Now he seeks to steal the faces of others so that they have to endure the same pain as him.

I would like the Dark Curse to have that villain sound, if you know what I mean. Not too deep, but maybe a little raspy. After he is brought back to life, I would like the reborn Tristan to have a generic medium-pitched male voice. Role most likely to be double-cast in: the General

Since the Dark Curse spends most of the series talking through others, we only hear his real voice three times. The first is in the beginning of the first episode were he says those three lines you just used to audition. He is known in the script as "Box." The second is in the Season 4 finale after the heroes successfully drive him out of Alex's body. The third is in the very last episode after the heroes defeat the Darker Lord and Henrietta brings Tristan back to life.

  • Excellent. He has the kind of face I've been looking for. Cool, rugged, commanding. It'll definitely strike fear into the hearts of those helpless mortals.

  • You won't need to. Tell me, do you have any children whom you might have passed down your powers to?

  • I don't want anyone stopping me. Now, let's get started.

Guardian

The Guardian is, as you may have guessed, a guardian spirit who is almost omnipotent but not entirely, so don't assume incorrectly. He helps Daph-Nii along her journey and gives her and many of her companions special powers called jobs that can be used in battle. The Guardian has no true physical form, so the best visual of him would be the pendant he lives in that Daph-Nii wears.

The Guardian's personality can be best described as stuffy and strict, which might have led to an entire cult--I mean, religion being built around him. His strictness has even gone as far as threatening to seal his own son in the energy dimension of the Casmas for not following in his footsteps. Despite this, he is greatly loyal to his Keeper, Daph-Nii, as well as some of her companions who are to his liking, such as Victor or Junko.

I have a very specific voice in mind for the Guardian, but it's kind of hard to explain. My best description of it would be "shouty Papyrus" as in Papyrus from "Undertale." If you want a good feel for my Papyrus voice, you could check out "UNDERTALE: The Movie," or you can go to Pewdiepie's playthrough of "Undertale" and listen to his Papyrus voice since that's where I based mine off of.

The Guardian is technically there in spirit for every episode. Whether or not he has a speaking part depends on whether I could think up a witty enough line for him. He spends most of Season 2 merged with Junko's body, so the Guardian's lines in that season will be said by Junko.

  • (in your best narrating voice) This is the world of Miitopia. It is a world where every Mii can live in peace in harmony. At least, it was. The darkness came without warning. A great and terrible shadow threatening all of Miitopia. An unspeakably evil fiend was summoned by a powerful wizard and her two disciples. Bearing the face of the Maven Mage's firstborn son, it started stealing other people's faces. Then, to add insult to injury, the fiend gave the faces to monsters! There is only one Mii who can defeat him: the secondborn.

  • Daph-Nii! Daph-Nii, can you hear me? Ho, ho! It does seem like you're hearing me. What good fortune this is!

  • Ho, ho! Excellent, excellent! I, er, bestow upon thee the awesome power of the Guardian! Hurgh...HAAAH!

Being the Sarcastic Guy, Petr can be assumed to be pretty sarcastic, being very laid-back and having a wisecrack for pretty much every situation.

I would like a deep voice for this character. That's really all I'm looking for. Deep and sarcastic. Role most likely to be double-cast in: Brendan.

Petr only appears in two episodes in Season 1.

I don't know why I imagine a cheery granny live Ava having a country accent. I just do. I just want the kindly grandma feel. Roles most likely to be double-cast in: Carlos or Stas.

Ava speaks in two episodes in Season 1.

  • Oh, joyous day! Isn't the weather just be-YEW-tiful?

Stas is a citizen of Greenhorne's village, whose son Carlos's face is stolen by the Dark Lord. S/he was the Keeper of the Guardian before Daph-Nii and was also his "wife" after being brainwashed into thinking he was a woman and mother/human parent to their three sons; Cameron, Ethan, and Carlos. His/er designation is Worried Mother, those the word "mother" is used loosely.  His/er description is "Tries to keep [his/er] child in check, but [his/er] patience is wearing thin."

Stas is a kindly and loving character who is very protective of his/er youngest and only remaining son, Carlos.

Because of Stas's immense level of gender ambiguity, I am leaving this role open to both men and women. If he were to be voiced by a man, it would be really funny if he very clearly sounded like a man impersonating a woman, but if she were to be voiced by a woman, I would like her to have a genuine mom voice. Either way is cool with me. Role most likely to be double-cast in: Ava (if you're a woman) or Carlos (if you're a man).

Stas appears in two episodes of Season 1 and has a minor speaking role in Season 2.

  • Stop it, Carlos! Calm down, or you'll hurt yourself! This child has me at my wits' end!

Role assigned to: SuperSniperEagleMan

Alex is the main antagonist of this whole shebang. A mage's son possessed by an evil spirit, he is the vessel by which the Dark Curse does his dirty work and the one that everyone fears.

Alex just acts like your classic big bad for the portion of the series that he's the Dark Lord, but after he's rescued by the heroes, he turns into an energetic and personable guy just trying to find himself after his experiences with the Dark Curse.

You're gonna have a lot of frickin' fun voicing Alex. For Alex in general, I want his voice to be deep. Not villain deep. More like post-pubescent male deep. As the Dark Lord, he gains the nickname Alex Chang from Junko because just like Mark Chang from The Fairly OddParents, he puts emphasis on all the wrong words. (You probably thought the audition lines were having a seizure, weren't you?)

As the Dark Lord, Alex will only have a few appearances per season, but afterwards, he becomes a regular character.

Normal Alex is a definite F-word swearer, but as long as he's the Dark Lord, consider him clean.

  • Mwa ha HA ha ha! I AM the Dark LORD ALEX Chang. I have come to wreak HAVOC and terror on this MISERABLE little world, and I'm starting with you, people of GreenHORNE.

Hidea-Kii has a stubborn personality and can get very defensive if people probe him too much. He is also the most level-headed in Team Greenhorne, which isn't saying much when you look at the crackheads he's with.

I want Hidea-Kii to have a tough-sounding voice without sounding too gruff. My best reference for the ideal Hidea-Kii voice would be Caleb from "W.I.T.C.H."

Hidea-Kii is a major character in Season 1, but he doesn't return until the end of Season 4, where he remains for the rest of the series. He also has a minor speaking role in Season 2.

Trini-Tii is one of Daph-Nii's companions on her travels through Greenhorne. She is the eldest daughter of Galen and Hol-Lii, a Neksdorian couple who sold her to the Order of Clerics for a shitton of money. In the years that she's been with the Order of Clerics, she's learned a wealth of spells. Did I say a wealth? I meant a few, but they're really useful in healing the party.

Trini-Tii is the sweet and innocent member of the group who always has a childish smile on her face. She can be a little ditzy at times, but she's very proud of her status as a cleric. The others also call her an oversharing lesbian because, well...that phrase pretty much sums itself up.

I want Trini-Tii's voice to sound cheery and cutesy, but don't go overboard because we still want to be able to understand her.

Trini-Tii is a major character until the end of Season 1, but she returns in the middle of Season 4 and remains for the rest of the series. She also has a minor speaking role in Season 2.

Trini-Tii is a fastidious non-swearer now, but that might change...

I based Michael off of Michael Scott from The Office, so don't be afraid to bring out your inner Steve Carell for this one. Just don't get too silly with it because Father Michael is not exactly a silly character. Role most likely to be double-cast with: Steven.

Victor is one fabulous boi. He is cool, confident, and not afraid to put himself out there. His energy and skill with people made him his village's "popular kid," but will he be as popular with Team Greenhorne?

I want Victor to have a suave teenager voice, if you get what I'm saying, probably like Mettaton from "Undertale" but not as deep. As a pop star, I'd like him to have at least a decent singing voice. Not anything too amazing. If you can hit the notes correctly and consistently, you should be fine. He also sings a lot of K-pop, so you'll have to read up on your K-pop if you're cast in this role.

He is very strict in his ways and proud of his family heritage, which is why he forces his son, Hidea-Kii, to join the Royal Guard. He is also selfish and racist against fairies, despite the fact that he banged one which led her to having Hidea-Kii.

The only thing I ask for in Ben's voice is dead-ass seriousness. Role most likely to be double-cast in: Kentaro.

Ben appears in three episodes of Season 1. He also has a minor speaking role in Season 2.

  • Madam, this is no laughing matter! His Majesty the King's face has been stolen!

  • Hidea-Kii! What do you think you're doing here? You're supposed to be at the Northern Barracks!

  • Oh, so you identify with those dirty-blooded fairies more than your own clan?

Steven is a guard. The king's left-hand guard to be exact. That's all we really know about him.

I always imagined Steven having a low, nasally voice, sort of like Squidward but not as grumpy. Role most likely to be double-cast in: Michael.

Steven appears in two episodes of Season 1.

  • The princess's chamber is this way, milady.

  • Dame Daph-Nii, the King would like a word with you.

  • 500 gold, Dame Daph-Nii.

Role assigned to: LuckyLadyBug

Bia is the princess of Greenhorne and only daughter of King Blanchard. She is in love with a noble's son named Julian, but she is also engaged in an arranged marriage with Prince Isaiah.

Bia is a kind and caring princess who loves Julian more than anyone else.

I want her voice to be light and princess-y.  Don't be afraid to be a little dramatic while voicing her. Role most likely to be double-cast in: Camila.

Bia appears in three episodes in Season 1. She also has a minor speaking role in Season 2.

  • And who might you be?

  • Of course! I thought I remembered hearing about getting a visit from an emotionally numb thief, the illegitimate son of my father's right-hand man, an oversharing lesbian cleric, and a flamboyantly gay pop star.

  • So Julian is safe. That is a relief! Please accept this award.

Julian is either the son of a besmirched noble or the besmirched son of a noble. The game doesn't really specify. He is in love with Princess Bia.

Julian might be a certified dork, but he's Bia's dork, and that's what counts. I want you to channel your inner dork for this role. Morty from "Rick and Morty" will be your friend. Roles most likely to be double-cast in: Adrian and Blanchard.

Julian appears in four episodes of Season 1.

The only time Julian swears is when he quotes the Dark Lord, who says "What SUP, bitches?" while attacking Greenhorne Castle.

  • H-here goes...Carlos! Where are youuu?!

  • I-I've got to do something...You! You get away from him!

  • Thank you so much for your help. My name is Julian.

Isaiah is the Prince of Neksdor. He is in love with Princess Bia and is engaged to marry her. Unfortunately, that dork Julian is in the way...

Isaiah is, for lack of a better word, a douchebag who only cares about himself and will stop at nothing for the love of Princess Bia. This is why Daph-Nii calls him the Prince of Suck.

I think it would be funny if Isaiah had a shrill, nasally voice as if he simultaneously is and isn't a force to be reckoned with. Role most likely to be double-cast in: Gavin.

Isaiah appears in three episodes in Season 1. He also has a minor speaking role in Season 2.

  • You imbeciles! Take me to the princess this instant, and don't you dare dawdle!

  • Why was I waiting out here alone, you ask? I was attacked by a monster. I made a valiant attempt at vanquishing the brute, but my pathetic servants couldn't handle it. Bah! They left me no choice but to flee from battle-

  • Princess Bia! It is I, your beloved Prince Isa-

Role assigned to: Litisun

The General is the monster who was given "Princess Bia's" face. He is a giant pink gorilla. He is the only monster to speak in the entire series.

For the General, I would like something deep and grumbly. Three of his four lines are mumbled to himself, so try to do that for the first two audition lines. Role most likely to be double-cast in: the Dark Curse.

The General appears in one episode of Season 1.

  • What beauty...To think the Dark Lord would grace me with such a face!

  • This face is mine now! I'll never give it back!

  • You'll never get away with this!

Gavin is the replacement princess, an actor hired to impersonate Bia when she's not around. He was so convincing when the Dark Lord came to the castle that he stole his face instead.

When not in character, Gavin is very crass and careless. He also has a fetish for fairies.

I want Gavin's normal voice to be low and gruff. When he's in character, I want a very poorly done Bia impersonation. You can either take a listen to the Bia auditions that are already up or go your own way. Role most likely to be double-cast in: Isaiah.

Swearer

  • (in his princess voice) I'm so happy!

  • Julian, I'm a man. And your son!

  • You're an okay dude, but there's one guy who's just a bit okayer. It's this fine piece of ass right here! I've always wanted to fuck a fairy!
