Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
Hi! My name is Lauren Keating and I am a Junior Animation major at the School of Visual Arts! I am on the lookout for voice actors for my third year film, MAGEMENDER! (working title).
SUMMARY OF FILM:
MAGEMENDER is a film about an unsuspecting individual that makes an appointment with a magical doctor who claims to have never failed to cure a patient. The patient is merely afflicted with the flu, so she figures such a common and well known sickness would be cake for a magical doctor to cure! Unease begins to take hold, however when our patient notices strange bugs crawling around the office. But before she has a chance to think, she's ushered to the treating room where antics ensue.
MISC MAGEMENDER FACTS:
- This film will be 2.5D! Blender backgrounds with character animation done with the grease pencil!
- I plan to have the film done early May, but production may leak more into the summer!
- When I finish the film I would really like to post it to YouTube and maybe enter it into my school's film festival!
- This goes without saying, but I'm gonna say it anyway! The voice actors chosen for the three roles in this film will 100% receive credits for their work at the end of the film.
IMPORTANT INFO:
- I would only be paying the voice of the Patient the 40$ and the other two roles would receive 15$ each because they are 2-3 lines each. That being said, I do not want to underestimate the amount of effort and time the talented people on this website put into voice work, so I can be a little flexible with the pricing to a degree!
- Payment is in USD and will be sent through PayPal!
- You can try out for as many of the roles as you would like
- Not sure how many additional gasps, grunts, or sighs will be needed, but the VA must be willing to provide such effects should the need arise
- Final recordings for the film must be clear and free of background noise! I will be a little more lax with the audition recordings but a poorer quality audition recording does make me feel less inclined to choose you.
- Please keep takes to 2-3 per line and provide your audition in one file if possible!
- Files should be .wav! (for the actual film, auditions being mp3s is perfectly fine!)
- I'd prefer to contact the final VAs through discord but email also works fine!
- I will be including a silent animatic, you can watch this to get a better grasp of your chosen character's role in the film should you feel so inclined!
DEADLINES:
EDIT: I completely underestimated the number of people who would be interested in providing voices for this project, (thank you guys so much!!) so I will be closing the auditions a bit earlier (Friday, January 27th at 11:30 PM) to manage the number of submissions I receive a bit. I'm very sorry if this means you cannot audition if you were interested!
The deadline for auditions is Friday, January 27th at 11:30 PM! Afterwards I will review the submissions and try to get back to the final VAs as soon as possible!
Please know that if you audition you are already doing me a massive service, and I am grateful for every submission! Even if you are not picked, you should be proud!

The lead role of the film! This patient has come in to see the magically inclined clinician to cure their flu! Such a task must be child's play to a wizard, right?
- I imagine a femme to/or androgynous voice for this character! Something a little on the softer side, but still substantial.
- While I haven't exactly pinned down the age of the patient, she's definitely a young adult! sounding within an 18-25ish age range is preferred!
- she has the most lines in the film, coming in at 10 exactly!
- If you would, please audition with a sick-sounding voice as well as a regular voice! The Patient has the flu throughout the film, but I would still like for her to be understandable!

Character Summary:
Just a little freak who caught the flu and wants it gone, can I get an amen. Her biggest sin was trusting a bug enthusiast and I would do the same.
