What is Knock on Wood?
Knock on Wood is an independently-made, short animated film being created to be distributed to film festivals. This production is additionally the final project for a Masters degree in Creative Industries and is part of a research in studying queer subtext within storytelling. The overall idea is that Pinocchio is gay and queer, which has created a rift between him and his father. As part of the study and the emotional direction, the two dance around the issue and never directly address it in this story.
Synopsis
Knock on Wood follows a modern, queer interpretation of the fairy tale character Pinocchio as a flesh-and-blood adult about to leave for the city for the first time. His father, Geppetto, tries to prevent him from leaving by giving him a job at his woodworking business and the two argue about Pinocchio’s destiny.

You must be 18 years of age or older to audition.
Please audition with the setup you intend to use if cast; ensure minimal background noise.
Auditions must be in .wav or .mp3 format.
This project will be remotely directed over Zoom; please ensure you are comfortable using this before auditioning.
Maximum of two takes per line.
