Hooky Fandub is as the name suggests a Fandub for the Webtoon: Hooky by Míriam Bonastre Tur. The series follows two young twin witches from a powerful family, Dani and Dorian Wytte. After missing the bus to magic school, they eventually get wrapped up in a prophesied war between witches and humans.
besides, dubbing this will just be for fun~!
Rules & Guidelines
You must be 18+. I do not feel comfortable working with anyone under 18, please understand.
You may audition for as many roles as you would like but please note that actors will only be given 1 main role, 1 minor role, and extras. (This can be subject to change due to circumstances)
No headset, phone, or low quality mics will be accepted. Your microphone doesn’t need to be an XLR or anything fancy! As long as you sound clear and background noise is minimal we can work with it!
Limit your background noise as much as you can! If you are able please remove background noise using audacity, or whatever recording software you are using.
Try to do 2-3 takes for a line using different inflections, emotions, etc. Really showcase your acting skills here!
Have fun with your audition! Give me your take on what the character sounds like! There is no “canon” voice for any of the cast so have fun and good luck!
idc about the deadline
When submitting your audition, please leave your discord user in the textbox so I can contact you. On this note discord is mandatory for this project, all communication will be done there, this is not negotiable. Also if you are okay with being cast as extras/background characters you can also include that in your audition as well!
To add something! Since we are at the beginning of the chapter, they'll be young but sooner later down the line they'll be more older so that's what I meant by you can play the older and younger one <3
(ill add the rest when i wake up)
hi there! so update, im about to put the rest of the characters in so dw i didnt forget about it i promise its still in the works i just been sleepy </3
In contrast to his twin sister Dani, Dorian is very introverted; preferring to read and practice magic than talk to others. He has tried many times to become friends with Nico, but each time Nico would brush him off until later in the story when they begin to get along. He is socially awkward but tries not to let that get in his way. Eventually, he makes friends with everyone (despite doing it much slower than Dani had). Dorian is curious, intelligent, and a very powerful witch.
you can play both (young and older) version
"I'm sorry! I just wanted to help, it was only a suggestion..."
"You're the only one who understands me, Carlo."
"A world where magic is for everyone... sounds good."
Nico is a positive person, despite his inner turmoil with himself. He typically puts others in front of himself and keeps his problems inside, believing to be a burden to those around him if he were to speak about it. He tries to be a logical person, however, his emotions seem to affect his thinking and decisions more than he'd like. For example, Nico completely cut off mark due to the fact he felt betrayed and jealous of rumors that Mark pitied him.
you can play both (young and older) version
"Why walk when we can race? Life's too short to waste our time going for a walk."
"You can keep it, for real. It looks better on you"
"Aaand, they're gone. Sigh, I hate witches"
She is very sure of herself, getting angry at Dorian for saying she couldn't save William, and holding a grudge against Dorian, although they usually faded out after a while. At the beginning of Hooky, she is introduced crying hysterically. She is an adventurous person and does anything to save her loved ones. She is confident and outgoing. She is also a bookworm and a hopeless romantic, even after reading various romance novels all day.
you can play both (young and older) version
"Don't worry, I'll take you shopping. We'll find some colourful clothes for you."
"Past fear won't come back, not if we all stick together."
"I'm in love with Dorian."
Mark is a generally nice person, though Nico described him as a bully. However, it was soon evident that this was simply out of jealousy and bitterness, though Mark has shown violent tendencies. Mark is admired by both Nico and Dani, along with his schoolmates. He is dependable and often helps his friends. He is, however, not very eloquent or poised and is a terrible dancer. Mark is humorous, as he made fun of Dani by pretending to not know that she hated the raisin-bread pudding he purposefully gave her, even though it was obvious. He also frequently teases Nico. He is not particularly clever but seems to be level headed in times of danger and is quite mature. Mark is bold and adventurous.
Mark greatly appreciates magic. He describes it as "cool" and is excited to go on adventures with Dani and Dorian, along with the rest. His worst nightmare even appears to be a world without magic.
He is usually tolerant but is not a doormat to those that anger him. If he is mad at them, he’ll show it normally.
you can play both (young and older) version
"You have to admit... Magic is pretty cool."
"In the end, she'll realize on her own. That magic is actually great." (to Dorian, about Dani)
Damien is highly secretive, it seems, and his over-conscious demeanor can't go unnoticed. Damien can be nerved quite easily, as he is seen to be blushing or sweating due to small factors. He's aloof, however, and holds a dark personality that can only seemingly be lifted by William.
you can play both (young and older) version
“You know I love you. So much." (to William)
“Don’t worry, your majesty. I’ll take care of it. I promise. I owe you.” (to Monica's father, the King)
“Of course you’re not horrible. Just because you love other people? We all love many people in different ways or on different levels. It’s not a big deal.”
William is shown to be quite careless and jocular throughout the series, though Damien states he likes to play dumb. In fact, under his joyous attitude, he's shown to be highly observant and deeply secretive. As the future heir of his own kingdom as well as Monica's (through their engagement), he was trained to reign from a young age. For this reason, he puts his royal duties over everything, even his own wishes. He knows he is not as strong as his friends, but he loathes feeling useless. For that reason he often makes reckless and bold decisions, putting himself in danger, especially when the people he cares the most are in trouble.
you can play both (young and older) version
* "I need to marry Princess Monica. It's important to the kingdom."
- [ ] "We can create something new though, all together. Something stronger and better."
"You might think everything is in vain... but we're gonna keep fighting!"
Aisha is usually a calm, quiet, and intelligent person, but can also get angered easily, similar to how Damien had initially described her. However in a battle or any stressful situation, she is very brave and quick to fight back. This is seen when she steals the group's weapons/wands to take responsibility as a princess and kill the dragon herself.
In the beginning she may have come off as rude or bossy, but as the story goes on we get to see her as a more caring and protective ally.
you can play both (young and older) version
“I am whoever my people need me to be! And if what they need is a hero, here I am!”
"You're a fool, brother." (to Amir)
Dani is optimistic and more socially secure than her brother. She is very confident and considers those around her to be her friends. Dani is normally happy and kind for she sees the bright side of everything and everyone. Despite this certainty, Dani is deeply worried by the lack of control and skill she has in her magic compared to Dorian.
After the incident where she almost got burned at the stake for being a witch, she was unsure where she stood between witches and non-magical people. The events on floating rock furthered this confusion, causing her to abandon her witch roots and attempt to become a "normal" person. However, after the disaster of the castle party and Alex's death, she realizes that witches aren't just inherently bad, making her her even more unable to choose a side. After she witnesses what she believes to be her twin's death, though, she no longer seems to care about sides and is content as an empty shell.
During the 3 year time skip in the story, she becomes cold, distant, and easily manipulatable due to cursing herself, allowing her to forget the pain of losing her loved ones who were lost, due to the witch conflict. However, she later returns to her joyful past self once the spell is broken.
"This pudding is GROSS." (accidentally, in front of Mark)
I found it searching for some boxes in the attic. It's just... all my clothes are black, so..." (to Nico)
"Dorian? Did you do this? It's beautiful!" (to Dorian)
Alex had an energetic personality. She was outgoing, positive, funny and confident, and she believed in the coexistence between magical and non-magical people.
Alex was born as a witch, and when she grew old enough, she started to attend a school of magic. She didn't like it, though, as the atmosphere of the place was very gloomy, and as she was not okay with her professors' teaching. For this reason, she and her friends and classmates Noah and Barry often interrupted the lessons to play with musical instruments around the class, angering their teachers
"Haha, you're so adorable, little pixie!"
"Yes! "Book of the big things: how to increase the things that need to be increased"! That's a great book!"
"Are we really stopped again? Are you kidding me?! We've been stopped for 2 hours already, there's too many people."
Amir is shown to be quite carefree in his actions. He doesn't care much about the repercussions of his actions or words. However, he is mature and handles serious situations well. He believes that the more wives he has, the better.
"But don't worry Monica, if William doesn't come back I'll be delighted to marry you instead. You'd be the prettiest of my women!"
"Of course man, remember that I'm the prince. There'll be no problem whatsoever!"
"Yes, I... I'll do anything I can!"
Angela is typically characterized as being a sweet, caring individual to those close to her. She is very loving and affectionate towards her family. When Damien accidentally turned a village child into a toad, she was not upset with him, and rather comforted him when he was scared of what would happen. When villagers came to attack her family, she stood in the way to protect them, and sacrificed to be burned before her son would. Even as her children turn against the family and the revenge, she feels they deserve, she never resents her children, and never attempts to harm them. As Damien grows up and begins to drift away from his family, Angela still looks forward to the few times he comes home to visit. When Damien became King of the Witches, she is happy to be able to reconnect and spend time with him. When Dani becomes possessed by the darkness, she worries over her state and wellbeing.
Despite this, it seems much of her gentleness left her after her attempted burning. She wants revenge so badly, and is ruthless to the point of harming anyone who stands her way, even if they are friends of her children. She is renown in both the witch and human communities for her wrath, and all fear her because of it.
Angela is a very strong leader, rallying witches behind her cause with relative ease and little push back from the witching community. She gives an impassioned speech in the village during the ball at Monica's Castle, encouraging the witches to rise up against the king. She can be manipulative, guilting Damien into becoming King of the Witches, claiming he "owes her." She also attempts to persuade Dani to join her after Angela kills Monica's Father, and then belittles Dani when she refuses to.
When she was pregnant with Dani and Dorian, Damien had accidentally turned one of his childhood friends into a frog resulting in the townsfolk of that village to know they are witches. Due to this, the villagers are scared of the Wytte family and are angry at them for turning one of their people into an animal.
William’s father then commands for Angela to be burned, breaking the pact between him and Monica’s father to not harm the witches. As a result of William’s father decreeing that, the next day Angela is put on a stake and set ablaze. She is then saved by her family but now has a scar in the process and an undeniable hatred for humans, wanting to seek revenge.
for lines theres only two but you can also come up with something if you like :DD
"How cute. You're trying to make your father look like the bad guy."
Revenge.”
Anne is a sweet girl, not putting up much of a fight for anything. She goes along with what is said and is seen to be an opposite of Ivy, who is much more open about her feelings. Anne is quite emotional, and is affected by the emotions of those around her. When Monica is upset about William's disappearance, she likely is upset and worries about her. She is somewhat ditsy, as she only answers one questions correctly-her name - when under Dorian's tutelage. When Amir tricks her into making candies for him, she doesn't realize it. She also blatantly told Dorian when she met him that she assumed all witches were ugly. She is also very loyal to her friends, and would do whatever she can to help them (unless it involves choosing to go on a grand adventure
Not much is known about Anne’s past prior to the story. She presumably belongs to a noble family of sorts, most likely from Monica’s or William’s kingdoms, though it is never said that she is directly related to any of them like Ivy is. She more than likely met Monica , William, Ivy, Amir, and Aisha at a young age. She was likely appointed as Monica’ lady-in-waiting by the King , possibly at Monica’s request, a couple of years before the story begins. She likely has a permanent residence in Monica's castle
im sorry if theres not much lines </3
"You'll look lovely! Won't she, Ivy?"
"I'm about to die, could you be a little nicer!"
Lucas is a witch and a minor character. He is a follower of the Wytte family and is loyal to Dani while she is cursed. first seen smashing Monica's potions after petrifying her. Dorian is quick to fire back at him, but he is saved by Sarah
"You think this is funny, huh? You enjoy messing around with potions?"
The Lumberjack is a minor character in Hooky. He is responsible for almost burning Dani at the stake. His status is unknown.
He finds Dani in the candy house and explains to her that the witch that lives there kidnaps and kills children. Dani tries to convince them that witches are good by revealing her identity, to which the Lumberjack responds by taking her to the stake.
Later, he tells Angela that he tried to burn one of the Wytte kids, and Angela immediately set the village on fire. He is found in the rubble of the village fire by Dani, but it is unclear whether or not he survives.
you can say what ever feels right with this character
*Say something you think would fit*
Barry is a witch and Noah and Alex's friend. Together, all three formed a band and performed in town. He and Noah are also the publishers of the newspaper." The Insurgent Witch"
He is the more distant one of the three, usually not saying much. He is usually the one driving, so he focuses on the road rather than talking to the others.
"Do you like our secret newspaper? We published it for the people. All the people."
Ivy is a reoccurring character in hooky. Introduced as a minor character, being one of Monica's ladies-in-waiting and best friends, she later becomes a member of the supporting cast starting in episode.
Ivy is depicted as pessimistic and is reluctant to join the other characters on their adventures, preferring instead to stay indoors with Amir. She is also depicted as rather lazy and rude, unlike her foil, Anne.
Ivy is a member of the nobility in William’s Kingdom, as she is will's cousin[- ; though it’s never stated which side of his family she belongs to. She more than likely met Monica , William, Anne, Amir , and Aisha at a young age. She was likely appointed as Monica’ lady-in-waiting by the King, possibly at Monica’s request, a couple of years before the story begins. She likely has a permanent residence in Monica's Castle.
"You should go to parties and have fun! There's a party today, we should all go! Then our sadness will fade away!
“Damn girl, you ate too many buns! You’re so heavy!” (to Anne, while she was hanging on for her life)
“Finally some real food, I was getting tired of Mark’s soups.”
Hilde Wytte is a witch and the elder sister of Hans Wytte . She is also the aunt of Damien , Dani and Dorian to whom she was also the mentor for a short time.
Aunt Hilde bears a resemblance to the Evil Queen in the tale of Snow White, both in appearance and personality. She is crude, wants to be on top of her brother hans and does not like humans. It seems though that she does have a slightly caring side, being in the twin’s defence when they seemed to be in trouble with the other witches, especially when they stole a dragon’s egg.
Hilde was born in the Wytte house, a powerful and rich family of witches. Sometime later, her mother gave birth to her younger brother, Hans.
After becoming an adult, she and her brother went on their separate ways. She decided to live in a castle up on a hill with her servants, while her brother married and started to live with his wife in a manor near a human town. There, here brother and her wife had Hilde's first nephew, Damien .
A few years later, her brother's pregnant wife had a terrible incident with the non-magical people that almost caused her and her unborn babies' death, so after the birth of the twins Dani and Dorian , Hans contacted Hilde so she could help them in their personal revenge. They planned to overthrow the kingdom of the king who sentenced many witches to death many years before, but they were having a hard time finding support in the magical community since witches and non-magical people were at peace now. So, the head of another powerful allied family told Hilde, Hans and Angela he would build a secret witches-only school where teachers would educate the new generation about the dangerousness of the non-magical people and how they used to discriminate witches so they would follow their plan when they grow up.
Also, around that time, her nephew Damien accidentally gained the trust of prince William and was invited to live with him in his palace, so her brother and sister-in-law planned of using him to spy on the royal family. Hilde would often be there when Damien came back to listen to his reports. At some point, she and Hans planned of using Damian to lure the prince to them and kidnap him since he would be a precious hostage, but the young witch refused to obey and left the family.
This slowed down their plan a bit, but eventually, a few years later, Hilde managed to kidnap William and locked him up in a cell of her castle.
"Listen to me, stupid. I've funded your plans from the beginning. If you want to continue receiving my "participation" stop messing with your bullshit."
"He's not a traitor, moron! All this was his idea!"
"Maybe they were playing... After all, they're just two kids."
