Fairy Tail - Facing the Water God Dragon
Project Overview
Hello! I'm Scalpha, the director of the YouTube channel ScalphaDubs. Recently, a friend of mine and I have been reading the Fairy Tail: 100 Years Quest manga, and I'd like to dub a certain scene from it. But which scene, and what's 100 Years Quest?
One year after Zeref and Acnologia have been defeated, Natsu and his team, Erza, Lucy, Wendy, Gray and Happy and Carla, embarked to the northern continent of Guiltina for the so-called "100 Years Quest", a mission that has been unaccomplished for over a century. The team learns that their mission is to seal the Five Dragon Gods, a group of dragons whose power threatens to cause worldwide destruction if left unchecked. On this quest, the first Dragon God they face is Mercphobia, the Water God Dragon. Once evil, he murdered countless humans, but his life changed when he met a young human girl. Now, however, Mercphobia lost control over himself and went berserk, turning into a massive water dragon and forcing Natsu and the rest to face him in an epic battle.
I have quite a bit of experience in terms of editing manga and dubbing scenes from them, so I'd like to take it upon myself to dub this grand battle! But before you audition, there are some requirements and some info that might interest you:
-Please, be willing to join our Discord.
-Keep in mind, if this does well we might be doing more dubs! Be it official manga dubs or maybe some comics, there may very well be more coming in the future!
-Have a decent microphone and avoid peaking.
-You need to be able to work with deadlines. This is very important.

Lucy is a Fairy Tail wizard who uses Celestial Spirit Magic. She has brown eyes and shoulder-length blonde hair that is usually tied by ribbons in a variety of colors in a small ponytail to the right side of her head with the rest of the hair loose.
Lucy takes exceptional pride in her appearance and is very confident in her sex appeal, often exuding a certain amount of vanity. Despite this superficial attitude, she is a clever, kind, and genuinely caring person. Lucy is passionate for literature and is in the process of writing her own novel about her adventures with Fairy Tail although she does not like telling anyone about it.
Her voice is incredibly expressive, and I'd love to hear that in this project as well! Her voice actress in the English dub is Cherami Leigh. I expect an energetic, expressive, fairly high voice for her!
(Relieved. After a long day, she's finally relaxing at home! However, once she notices Gray, she starts yelling.)
"Aaaahh... You know, as much as I love adventuring, nothing beats a bit of relaxing at home!"
(Gray suddenly starts talking, chilling on the sofa behind her (in his underwear, of course). He mentions that she got a pretty nice place for only 70,000 Jewel.)
"TRESSPASSING! Lucy Kiiiick!" (She proceeds to dropkick Gray straight in his Jewels. "Aaaah! How the heck did you even get in here?! And don't strip in other people's homes unless they ask you to!"
(Crying, scared. Trying her best to calm Natsu down. Natsu went berserk after eating the Fire God Dragon's flames and is about to completely obliterate the already defeated Water God Dragon. Lucy rushes in and hugs him from behind, trying her best to stop him. She's getting burned by the sheer heat of him around her.)
"Ugh... Grhh... I-it's... all over now, Natsu. It's okay... I'm here. We're safe. "
(Determination. After losing one of her Celestial Spirits, Aquarius, Lucy breaks down in tears. However, Aquarius reminds her that she needs to fight for her friends, and Lucy does so.)
"You're right, Aquarius... I can't keep on crying forever. I have to save my tears. Because right now... I need to help my friends! I need to fight!"
"Measure the heavens, and open them wide... Stars across the universe, show yourselves to me with all your brilliance! O Tetrabiblos, I am the ruler of the stars. My aspect is perfection. Open thy savage gate. 88 stars of the heavens. Shine on! Urano Metria!"
Gray is one of Fairy Tail's wizards and uses Ice Make Magic and Ice Devil Slayer Magic. He is a muscular and toned young man with dark blue eyes and spiky black hair.
He has a very laid back personality (you could say he's pretty chill), but won't hesitate to get serious when he needs to .He and Natsu have a friendly rivalry, and while they can often be seen fighting one another verbally or physically,] the two are actually quite concerned about each other. He is very concerned about his comrades and is truly loyal towards his guild, but tends to trash talk every now and then. Also, he has a disturbing habit of unconsciously removing his clothes (including underwear) at inappropriate moments.
His voice should be fairly low, but not too low.

(Deadpan. Genuinely serious, not trying to be a perv. Comic Relief Scene. Just """"lost(took off)"""" his underwear and now moves to the new girl in the guild, Lucy.)
"Excuse me, miss. I seem to have misplaced my underwear. Could you borrow me yours for a moment?
(Sorrow. Pain. Regret. Gray was on the verge of death, when Juvia, the woman he loves, transfused her blood to him to keep him alive, using her water magic. This scene unfolds from the moment he wakes up.)
"Huh...? I'm alive? No... I'm certain that I died. Then why... No- No! This feeling... Inside me... is that Juvia's blood?"
(He hurries over to her body, gently shaking her as tears roll down his face.)
Juvia… No… No… NO!” (He lets out a blood-curdling scream, channeling all of his regret, his feelings of weakness.)
Juvia… I promise to start thinking about you more seriously… Just please… Wake up… Juvia…”
(Fighting a demon that took over his father's corpse, determined to protect his friends and guild. He's deeply hurt and on the verge of losing, but gets up once more.)
Even if a human can't beat a demon... Even so, I... I have to... beat you! For Lyon! For my friends! For Fairy Tail! There's still one more thing I can do to defeat you...
(A surge of blue energy surrounds him as he takes on the pose required to use a forbidden spell, one, that may very well kill its user.)
"Iced Shell. It doesn't matter if I have to use my own life, if I can seal you away like Ur did, then it's worth it! You think your Ice Devil Slayer magic can handle it?! Then let's find out ourselves! I'll surpass you, Deliora! To avenge... My family... And Ur!"
(The young wizard thinks of all of his friends, the love of his life, and everyone who accompanied him. He recalls them risking their own life in order to save his, and is filled with sorrow at the thought of leaving them behind now. However, there is no other way, and he knows this."
"Iced... Shell!"
Erza is an S-Class Mage of the Fairy Tail Guild. She is a young woman with long, scarlet hair and brown eyes. She lost her right eye as a child and now has an artificial one which was created by Porlyusica, an elderly woman who is also known as "The Healing Mage".
Erza is a very strict person, often criticizing the bad behavior and habits of the other guild members, causing most of them to apologize, fearing that they might invoke her wrath. She is also very impatient, disliking people who don't answer her questions quickly enough. This, coupled with her own tragic childhood, caused many of her guildmates to avoid her due to her social awkwardness. However, she has a great sense of justice and pride in being a member of Fairy Tail.
Erza should sound very blunt and have a fairly low voice.

(Starts off joking, but then gets serious when she congratulates Lucy)
"You won a big writing award! That's an impressive achievement. Personally, I have no literary talent whatsoever. One time, I wrote a thank-you letter to a guild for helping me, and they came after me with weapons in their hand! In any case... congratulations, Lucy. I'm proud to have you as a fellow teammate."
(Erza stopped an incredibly powerful attack from Gray and Natsu; ice that can freeze a body in seconds, and fire that turn anything to ashes. She’s crying, trying to remind the two of them that they’re all friends, not enemies.)
“Look closely at the person in front of you! Is he an enemy?! Or a friend?! I don’t know what happened, but don’t give in to fleeting emotions! Think back! To when we grew up together!”
(She repeats the words their former, now deceased, Guild Master once told them when they were younger.)
“Listen well! It’s fine to brawl on occasion! If butting heads is in your nature, then it’s perfectly normal! But only if your clash of spirits is a way to show respect! Hate and spite must never be used for violence. That’s what a guild is all about!”
(She pulls the two of them into a hug.)
“I… Love you both. From the bottom of my heart…”
(Determined. Fighting the so-called “Blade Dragon Slayer”.)
“I wield my sword solely to protect my friends. There is no room for weakness in my heart. Every strike, every slash, and all my might… They are all dedicated to them.”
Wendy is a young female Sky Dragon Slayer. She's a petite girl with fair skin and generally wears her long, blue hair in twin-tails that reach down to her waist.
Wendy is a very shy and polite girl. She is always accompanied by her cat companion, Carla, as they have a very close relationship. She is very eager to try and make friends and cares deeply about her guildmates, including Natsu, whom she sees as family. Unlike the other Dragon Slayers, Wendy doesn't enjoy fighting, preferring to avoid it as much as possible. If, however, it's for the sake of her guild or friends, Wendy will fight without hesitation. And despite how she may look, she is incredibly powerful.
Her voice should be pretty high, considering that she's the youngest and smallest of the bunch. Be ready to scream, though! When she fights, she truly goes all out, no matter what!

(Team Natsu encountered weird, jellyfish-like creatures and are playing around with them!)
"Daww! They're kinda cute, aren't they? Heehee! You're just the cuuutest, aren't you? Who's a cute li'l jellyfish? Whooo's a cute little Jellyfish?"
(Whining)
"Why did you turn me into a jellyfish?! Why am I the only jellyfiiish?! Waaah! This has to be because I sent all those jellyfishes flyiiing!
(Wendy is being crushed by Ezel and is on the brink of death. Carla jumps in and tries to help her, but to no avail. Ezel is about to crush her, when she gently reminds Wendy of the air. The air that is infused with Ethernano, the source of all magic in the world.)
“Air… The sweet air… The air thick with Ethernano that swirls around Face… This mixture… if I can… absorb it, then maybe… Like Natsu, I could…”
(She consumes the Ethernano infused air, causing her to attain Dragon Force, the pinnacle of power a Dragon Slayer can reach. Her hair turns pink and her body is covered in scales, and with this new, massive power, she throws Ezel off of her without any trouble. Her voice turns aggressive, rough.)
“I can hear the voice of the wind… I can feel the pulse of the atmosphere. Right now… The air is under my control. This will finish you! Dragon Slayer’s Secret Art… Shattering Light: Sky Drill!”
Mercphobia, the Water God Dragon, is a dragon who can take on the form of a human. In his human form, he appears as a young man with shoulder-length hair, two long horns, and a facial tattoo over his right eye.
Mercphobia is a calm dragon worshipped as a god by the people of Ermina, although he can easily become hostile towards those he views as enemies. Conversely, he is quite welcoming towards the town’s visitors or those who have earned his trust, visible by his hospitality towards Team Natsu upon their arrival. Mercphobia takes responsibility for the care and well-being of the citizens of Ermina, presiding over them as a benevolent ruler while also driving away any threats to himself or the town. He is particularly dedicated to his assistant, Karameel, who he states is his “reason for living.”
I'd expect him to have a very smooth voice, be it low or high. I'm open to just about any interpretation for him.
(Talking to Natsu, rather relaxed since he noticed they seem like the type of people he could reason with.)
"Well now... I can't really say if I'm a good guy or a bad guy. At the very least, I don't harbor any enmity for you all. Not at the moment, at least. You all seem a bit different than the usual assassins I see. Follow me, will you? I'll show you to my palace."
(Talking to Team Natsu, telling them about the other God Dragons.)
“It pains me to say this, but… Ignia isn’t someone you can defeat. Not only him, but the other God Dragons as well. You would be no match for them. I do, however, have an idea where one of them may be located. Despite what I said earlier, do you still want to go?”
(After the fight, his magic has been "sealed" from what we can tell. He returns to his human form, talking to his fellow town-people, joking, yet serious.)
"Ahh, oh well. I'm probably as good as dead at this point. I don't have any magic left in me now... Looks like I've become a normal human now. But it's probably for the best. From now on, I want to live the rest of my life not as the Water God Dragon, but simply as Mercphobia. Together with the people of this town. Oh, speaking of which..."
(He turns to Karameel.)
"Call me Mercphobia from now on, Karamille, will you?"
(She smiles, sweetly, but quickly follows saying that it's been too long since she last called him that.)
"Whaaat?! Okay, then how about just... Merc? Would that work?
Karameel is a young woman of average height. She has dark eyes and long, wavy hair, with a side-braid and prominently up-curled strand on the right side of her head, and also wears glasses.
Karameel portrays herself as stern and somewhat stubborn, often speaking bluntly and without hesitance. Unlike Mercphobia, she is not as lenient with the town’s visitors, especially if sent by Elefseria, which is evident by her curtness towards Team Natsu. She shows much faith in her superior’s abilities, confidently stating that the Fairy Tail Mages would not stand a chance against the Water God Dragon. Despite this condescending attitude, Karameel is very dedicated to Mercphobia himself, having been previously saved by him in a shipwreck.
I'd expect her to have a fairly low, stern voice. Keep in mind; she's crying in line 3 and on the verge of crying in line 2!
(The Water God Dragon invited Team Natsu to his palace to discuss their mission. She's doubting her Lord at the start, calm and composed when talking to Team Natsu.)
“Lord Water Dragon! Why have you brought people like this to your sacred palace?”
(She redirects her gaze to them.)“You. You have been sent by Elefseria, haven’t you? Fine then, go ahead. If you plan on challenging the Water God Dragon, go ahead. He’s not a foe the likes of you could handle.”
(Sorrowful, shaking, regretting her past actions.)
“It’s my fault that… the Water God Dragon turned out like this… I’m the one who let the White Mage steal his power. He told me… that he was considering surrendering his life to the next Mages Elefceria would send, and- and I tried to convince him that that was absurd! But… he wouldn’t listen… Around that time, I heard rumors about the White Mage’s Cult. Possessing a power that’s capable of erasing powerful magic and change everything to “white”.
I asked her to steal the power of the Water God Dragon. Believing that he would simply lose his magic and the people of the cits could live on normally- including him, as a simple human. But… That was a mistake. As you can tell, the city didn’t return to normal. His powers went even more out of control. She didn’t take his magic power… she took his power of control.”(After finishing her story, she starts crying. She doesn’t want to say it, but knows that it’s what the Water God Dragon would want after going berserk.)
“P-please… Slay the Water God Dragon… And put him to rest in peace… With your Dragon Slaying Magic… Free him from his pain. He doesn’t want to hurt them, so please! Please stop him!”
Ignia. also known as The Fire Dragon God, is one of the Five Dragon Gods that inhabit the continent of Guiltina. He is the biological son of the Fire Dragon King Igneel, who is also Natsu's foster father. In his human form, Ignia takes on the appearance of a toned, muscular man. His dark orange hair is styled upwards, with the tips somewhat tinged and two strands framing the sides of his head.
Ignia is an arrogant and condescending individual, demonstrating confidence in his superiority while even undermining the strength of fellow Dragon God, Mercphobia. He harbors an extreme obsession with tests of strength, having shown himself willing to go to great lengths in order to satiate his thirst for combat. For the sake of obtaining a formidable opponent, Ignia remains unconcerned about the well-being of those around him, such as carelessly burning the harbor of Ermina with its residents and destroying countless countries. He even goes as far as to threaten the Fairy Tail Mages’ lives in an attempt to rouse Natsu’s anger, indicating a sadistic nature. In addition to this violent mindset, Ignia is also rather callous, having shown little to no emotion over Igneel’s demise.
Ignia seems like he'd have a rough voice. As with Mercphobia. I can imagine anything from low to mid-high in terms of range for him. Feel free to show me your interpretation of him!
(Ignia descends from the skies in his dragon form, grabbing Natsu and mocking him.)
Mercphobia... What happened? For you to lose all your reasoning... It doesn't seem like you. Don't lose to that kinda guy, Natsu! Sure, it's true that fire magic is weak against water magic... I can't do anything about that. But look at him. That's not even all of his power. That's half of it, at most. Is this really the best you can do?!
(Disappointed. He expected Natsu to be much stronger. He yells, angrily, bringing Team Natsu to their knees.)
“How pitiful! You can’t do a thing against him! Are you really Igneel’s child?! Here… I suppose I’ll have to lend you some help. The power of fire is the power to burn everything. To burn the world… And live amongst the raging flames! Natsu!”
(Telling his story, explaining who he is and why he’s here.)
Almost 400 years ago, to escape Acnologia… We fled here. To Giltena. And the five of us that survived, lived on in this land as the Holy Pentadrakes. Our powers eventually grew to surpass that of the dragon we once feared so much.
I should’ve been the one to kill Acnologia. Not to avenge Igneel… But to test my own strength. But he bit the dust. At the hands of a human. And Igneel’s foster son, nonetheless! When I heard that, I just had to come for myself. And what do I find? He’s weaker than I could have possibly imagined. Probably needed the help of a bunch of other Dragon Slayers.
