Original VA Comment (Tetsuya Kakihara): "It was very fun to portray a cheerful and lively boy like Subaru-kun, so it was a very happy experience for me.
Please love him!"
As the EnStars wikia states, "[a] hardworking mood-maker who thinks of everything in a positive light, Subaru's always on the go, never settling down. He likes money (not in a materialistic way; he just likes shiny things and loves coins regardless of the value)."
Hey there☆ You must be the transfer student that we've been hearing about! I’m Subaru Akehoshi! "Akehoshi" is written with the characters for 'morning star', and "Subaru" is in katakana! Easy to remember, right~? ♪
I am the same, see. It seems I will be burned by the title “riding a parent’s coat-tails”…
That is why I can sympathize with you, and I feel like I can be friends with you.
[do not say these lines, these are only here for context:
Hokuto:
…Being friends, huh. An idol doesn’t need friends, you know. Our fathers are super idols who stood at the top alone, after all.
That is why I always think that it is natural for me to be alone.]
Me too, see. …But you know, what if it is not true?
If you can sing with someone else, then you can also be friends with someone who will stand side by side with you and aim for the same dream! It’d make you super happy, you know, it’s happiness!
And that’s what I think, how about you?

Original VA Comment (Hosoya Yoshimasa): "My character is one who, despite the fact that he's aiming to become an idol--a profession where he's supposed to become a fashion leaders for the young generation--is actually quite old-fashioned in his speech as well as his tastes, due to the strong influence from his grandmother. I am personally very curious about what type of idol he will develop into. Please regard him kindly."
As the EnStars wikia states, "[c]alm, cool, and collected, Hokuto is a hard-working perfectionist. He hates when his pace is disturbed. Though he might come across as cold to his noisy classmates at first, he values his friends. He's kind and will explain things thoroughly to those who don't understand, but he's also slightly air-headed."
My name's Hokuto Hidaka. I'm the class president of Class 2-A.
The teacher asked me to help you out, so if you're having trouble with anything, don't hesitate to ask. As the class president, I'll do my best to assist you.
My dream is to someday perform the best trickster role and make president surprised.
Fufu. It’s thrilling just by imagining that person, who always sinks into his performance, going to the backstage looking all amazed.
Well, but for now, I feel like it’s still… a dream within a dream.

Original VA Comment (Yuki Kaji): "Isara Mao-kun, the character I was in charge of, is a second year student and a member of the Basketball Club. He's the kind of character who, just when you thought he was being a little blunt and unsociable, turns out to be surprisingly friendly and attentive. I guess that's why he seems to have a lot of lines which suggest a worrywart tendency (laugh)."
As the EnStars wikia states (a longer read!), "Mao is a reliable boy who loves taking care of others and never fails to lend a helping hand, even when he complains about it. Even though he is the student council's treasurer, he's also a member of the unit Trickstar, and the two groups often go head-to-head against each other. He doesn't like getting into trouble, but always finds himself dragged into it.
Being a student council member, he does everything flawlessly. He doesn't like being the center of attention, so he often provides support from behind the scenes. Childhood friends with his neighbor Ritsu, who affectionately nicknames him "Maa-kun."
He is usually very friendly and outgoing to anyone he talks to, although he also acts as the rational mediator when things are getting too out of hand. Mao also readily accepts most work, even if it goes beyond what he's physically capable of doing alone. Although this passionate, hard-working attitude is one of his strong suits, many of his faults lie in it as well."
Don't worry about it. You'll attract attention if you contact me too often, right? It's fine as long as you let me in on the important things.
Anyway, I know you guys can handle yourselves when it comes to that.
That's the one thing I'm confident about. It's why I formed a unit with you guys. So try not to disappoint me too much, and don't cause any trouble for me if you can help it! I mean it!
And it hurt so much, it was so painful, that I wished I could spared from it all, but…
I’m glad someone said it to me this time. It’s something I’ll have to face sooner or later.
You guys are kind, so you’ll never say anything cruel to me. That’s why I’m glad to meet an enemy who would strike without mercy.
I’m an unfair, stealthy guy who always stay at my safe zone.
I was even deluded enough to think that was my role, that it was the necessary step to protect and support you guys, who always try to do the impossible.
So I’m thrilled.

Original VA Comment (Shinichiro Kamio): "When I first saw the character Kuro Kiryu, I was struck not only by his appearance, which goes without saying, but also by his catchphrase. 'A domestic delinquent'--as I was wondering about how to portray a delinquent with a domestic side to him, I looked at his specialty column and saw 'Fighting, embroidery,' and I thought, indeed, he's a very domestic guy. Plus he's a delinquent. He's also a straightforward guy at heart, as well as the captain of the Karate Club... What a nice guy! So I put all of my efforts into bringing out the spirit of this character! I hope you will enjoy Ensemble Stars, a game where many such charming characters will make their appearance."
As the EnStars wikia states, "Kuro looks scary and has immense physical strength, but treasures precision and order. He's earnest and sincere at heart. His family is very important to him. He's been taking care of his younger sister ever since they lost their mother, and he somewhat developed a strong caring for his sister."
If nothing else, looks like you've mastered how to get fired up, huh? Well, as long as you're enjoying yourself.
As for me, I'm not really enjoying this. I'm not much of a fan for violence.
While brushing away the sparks of fire that kept falling on me, before I realized, I'd fallen in so deep I couldn't escape.
Tetsu, I never wanted to drag a kid like you into the bottomless swamp of violence. Guess I don't have time to be saying that now, though. The song's ending soon.
That is... not something I can say, is it…
I’m... involved in it, too. Even if you complain about it now, there’s nothing to be done about it, and all. I’m already stuck into it, you know.
It’s our bad for not seeing through this disgusting conspiracy… before it got like this, you know. Even if we regret it, it’s too late.
I’m sorry, Itsuki. There’s nothing I can do, you know. Even though long ago, I swore that I’d absolutely protect you.
It looks like I’ll be eating my words. Mom will be mad at me, won’t she?

Original VA Comment (Yoshiki Nakajima): "Yuss! This is Yoshiki Nakajima, voicing Tetora Nagumo! Tetora-kun is a hot-blooded and straightforward boy... I was very excited during the recording sessions! I'm also looking forward to finding out what kind of character he will turn out to be! Everyone, please think of him as your little brother!"
As the EnStars wikia states, "[s]erious and single-minded, Tetora can only focus on one thing at a time. He's a hard worker, but his enthusiasm is usually fruitless. He can't do detailed tasks because he's not very good with his hands. He admires the third year and karate club captain Kuro, affectionately referring to him as "boss" (taishou). Since Tetora has a goal of becoming a man among men, he looks up to his Taishou for manly virtues."
Sorry for the late intro! I'm Tetora Nagumo, 1st year in the Karate Club! I'll be in charge of commentary and tallying up the votes for the "32nd DreamFes - Dragon King Competition"! Ossu!
*note: "Ossu!" is part of Japanese speech and not English. This was kept by the translator (Enstars Translates on Tumblr) because it distinguishes Tetora. He says this very energetically, so while "ossu" can translate to "yo" or something similar, this term was kept.
No, there’s no point in doing things that way. If I pair up with taishou, he’s just going to spoil me and distance himself again.
I’ll end up protected by taishou, without suffering a single scratch.
If the “Ryuuousen” has to be an individual match, no matter what...
Then, I’ll knock down Ogami-senpai before the real match begins, and grab the right to enter.
*note: "Taishou" is explained under Tetora's description.

Original VA Comment (Yuuki Ono): "Just as his name implies, Koga-kun is the type of boy who seems like he'd sink his fangs into you without batting an eye.
Imagine this. It's summer. Here's a boy who can't be honest with himself. But every now and then, his gentleness which occasionally surfaces would start to sink in from where he bites you.
Please, do love him."
As the EnStars wikia states, "["t]he lone, wild wolf." Quick-tempered and impatient, he's a self-proclaimed "proud wolf" who hates having to run with the pack. He's got a good nose and so it's hard for him to handle strong odors. "
I'm gonna sink my claws into the souls of all you ignorant people out there! Rip and tear you apart, and drink the fresh blood that spills!
Enjoy and appreciate the ecstasy of the moments just before you're preyed on! Rockin' Soul!
Seems like Ricchi’s been suffering from lack of sleep recently. That guy usually sleeps like a log in broad daylight, right?
But it’s true that lately he’s been awake even during the afternoon.
Well, he used to reverse day and night, but now he’s back to normal. In fact, this is more of a healthy lifestyle for him...But he’s a vampire, ain’t he?
Being awake in the afternoon is bad for him, in reality. Nah, it’s not like I seriously think he’s a vampire.
But it seems that he really is weak to sunlight apparently?
Just like the vampire bastard, if he gets bathed in sunlight his condition becomes bad. That’s the kind of family they are. But even I don’t know the specifics that well.
*note: "Ricchi" refers to Ritsu Sakuma, one of Koga's classmates.

Original VA Comment (Yuichiro Umehara): "If I have to describe the character Keito Hasumi in one word, then I would say that he's the 'viscous type,' who is usually conservative, moralistic, mild-mannered, but occasionally explosive when his emotions become bottled up to a certain extent. This is something I kept in mind as I portrayed this character. He's calm and composed, highly capable, somewhat condescending, extremely sharp-eared, and seemingly standoffish, but I think he's actually a caring guy who's good at looking out for others. Please regard Keito-kun kindly."
As the EnStars wikia states (quite the longer read!), "[a]t first he appears quiet and almost shy, even having been described as a “quiet glasses guy” by fellow AKATSUKI member Kuro. However, when he has passion towards something, he becomes incredibly determined. Keito is incredibly serious, and takes any jobs he is given very seriously. Even if they make him uncomfortable or confused, he will fulfill a job to the best of his abilities. This is what helps make him a talented leader for both AKATSUKI and the Archery Club.
Keito appears to have a fondness for traditional Japanese culture, having been raised in a Buddhist temple. He acts as an idealized Japanese man- strict on rules, smart, and serious- and is the leader of the academy’s traditional-based unit. Despite that, he’s able to acknowledge that AKATSUKI will occasionally need to break from their traditional roots, as “traditional” comes across as “stiff” to many, limiting their fans.
He can seem condescending at first, but Keito truly cares for others. He’s good at taking care of people around him, another quality that makes him a talented leader. However, he doesn’t often let others care for him. He bottles up emotions and shifts any and all work assigned onto himself, overworking himself to some degree. He’s not good at expressing emotions, and won’t normally let others know how he is feeling, especially regarding if he is stressed or upset.
Keito is easily flustered and overwhelmed when it comes to things he cannot understand. As he is very intelligent, he’s used to always comprehending information thrown at him, to a degree that he hardly knows how to react when he cannot. Despite him being flustered in situations like those, he is still determined to carry on and stay independent."
We then reunited in high school, and, since he would call out to me casually, we became close enough to start having conversations again, but..
I still can't wipe away that fear I felt back then.
I'm not the protagonist of this world's story...
I'm just one of the many minor characters that can be replaced whenever– No, I'm little more than part of the background. Being around him makes me feel that awful sense of my place.
If I'm not needed in this story, in this world... then why was I born? I've pondered over that to nearly the point of death.
Do you understand what I'm trying to say, Oogami?
It seems like you desire to be close to that guy, but... humans aren't strong enough to maintain their sanity while living alongside a god.
*note: The "he" or unnamed "guy" in this refers to Rei Sakuma.
