Introduction - The Game
Doomsday Paradise is a competitive multiplayer visual novel / RPG about partying during the apocalypse. Gameplay wise, it's half relaxed visual novel and half deckbuilding roleplaying game- with lots of flexibility to let you play how you like. You can check it out on Steam here. The game itself is goofy and has a light hearted, relaxed atmosphere. The project is currently in late development but two more characters were funded via the game's Kickstarter campaign, and are in need of art and voices. The art posted below is their rough concepts, since they're still in the production pipeline. You can check the Steam Page, trailer, or website for a better feel for how the game looks / feels in practice but of course that's not required to audition. You can find a full playthrough of the game here. Alternatively, I recommend this brief compilation of A Girl and a Game's stream.
Scope of Each Role
The game isn't fully voiced, instead characters have accent lines spoken during certain scenarios (when happy, introduced, angry, etc.,) to help add some flavor to the dialogue. These characters have 14 lines. The lines will repeat regularly, but it's a far cry from full voice acting. Please keep in mind that the roles are relatively small.
Auditioning
Since the line count is so low- please feel free to audition for multiple roles at once and drop a note if that's required to get to a desired minimum compensation level.
Requirements
- Up to 3 takes for each line. If you send me more, I will discard your audition.
- Please do not slate your audition.
- Please submit auditions in whatever file format sounds best. CHECK YOUR AUDITION FOR COMPRESSION ISSUES AFTER IT IS UPLOADED!
- Please include your email address and/or Discord username, if you have one, with your audition. I'll need to contact you to arrange payment, sign contracts, etc., afterwards.
- Please record in a quiet space free of background noise! I'll be using the takes to figure out how the final production will sound after all!
Getting Cast
Once you've been cast, if you agree to the role, you'll receive a quick contract establishing my rights to use the voice lines commercially, and solidifying payment terms and conditions. Upon signing the contract, you will officially receive the part.
Payment
Payment will be sent via PayPal after your lines have been recorded. Roles are priced at $5/line, which comes out to $70/character.
Further Voice Work
Not all of the game's voice work is a part of this casting call. You can follow here, via my Twitter, or hang around the Doomsday Paradise Discord channel if you want to be aware of any future casting calls for the project.
TIPS- I have a document from the first round of auditions last year with my advice / takeaways. You can find it here.- The most common mistakes are poor mic quality, overacting, and submitting a take that's way off the game's tone.- These lines will play many times a game- I'll be asking questions such as "will this line get annoying after the fifth listen? Tenth? Hundredth?"
