Dogengers Episode 1: English Fandub
Project Overview
Welcome, and thank you for checking out this project! This is going to be an English fandub of Dogengers, a Japanese tokusatsu show focusing on a group of "local heroes" that do battle with the Secret Society of Evil.
As a quick disclaimer, we're only dubbing the first five minutes of Episode 1 of Season 1. This is due to time constraints. Once you're cast, I'll be giving you two weeks to send in all of your lines (including any retakes that may be required)!
Each role is arranged by their word count, with the highest word count first.
Requirements:
- You must have a good microphone if I am going to consider you! This means a crisp, clear quality to your voice and a distinct lack of reverb or background noise. Please clean up your audio before auditioning, but don't add any modulation filters!
- Be responsive and have a good turnaround for lines!
- This is a given, but if I cast you, I'm going to need your email.

Also known as Shabberyman or "Talkieman," Jabberyman is the official spokesperson behind the Secret Society of Evil. While he is not a "lead" per se, he has the most lines overall in the scene we'll be dubbing.
Jabberyman has a medium-high voice with a lot of enthusiasm behind it, and he acts like a sports announcer at times. Here is his original Japanese voice, for reference - you don't have to match it verbatim, but keep the general crazy energy.
Wooow! Hello ladies and gents, this is the villain Jabberyman from the Secret Society of Evil! I'm back here and up to no good!
(like a sports announcer, but getting more rushed) Oh, it’s Fukuoka Prefecture's Fukuokalibur! He's Fukuoka's number one most serious and earnest hero! His two-sword wielding style is unrivaled in all of Japan--hey stop hitting me!
(catching breath at start, then growing desperate) Well! With all these heroes running around, it unfortunately looks like Fukuoka's gonna stay very peaceful…! And that means the Secret Society of Evil's financial performance is going straight down the gutter!
This guy narrates the title cards that occasionally appear throughout this episode, along with any special abilities/attacks.
I had two potential voice types in mind: The first would be something like the Smash Bros announcer, but less flamboyant; the other voice would be something in the mid-high range, similar to the announcer from Wii Sports.
Fukuokalibur is pronounced "FOO-koo-oh-KAA-lih-bur."
This is Fukuokalibur.
Request accepted. Fusion permitted!
Special thanks to Y’allgers for providing the English translation! Please support the official release!
Redron is one in a trio of businessmen for the Yamashiro Gas Company. He can unite with the other two to fuse into Yamashiron. Despite this power, Yamashiron is very insecure and childish.
His voice is in the medium-high range, with a smooth tonality. He's usually very timid, but when his confidence is up, he sounds very sure of himself.
(insecure) Stooges? Do... do I look like a stooge?
Now, Secret Society of Evil, allow us to conclude this meeting.
Everyone, I did it!
Yabai Kamen is the leader of the Secret Society of Evil. Since we are only dubbing the first five minutes of the episode, he is a fairly minor character, and as such, all of his lines for this scene are listed in the audition lines.
Yabai Kamen's voice is in the medium-high range, and his voice has a scratchy quality to it.
This treasure… With it, their era will finally come to an end. That's what we must focus on now.
With this national treasure… no, the whole world's treasure!
El Brave is a pro wrestler who likes to push himself to the absolute limit. He has an extremely short temper that flares up often, especially whenever anyone points out his height--or lack thereof.
El Brave's voice is medium-low and gravelly, and he has a thick Southern accent.
(yelling) Now it's my turn!
Annoying punk! This guy's part of the Secret Society of Evil! Let’s go!!
(announcing ability) Brave Impact!
Yuki is Tanaka's childhood friend who wants to reunite with him after years of being apart. She's very sweet and a nice person to be around.
Her voice is in the medium-high range, with a soft tone to it.
Since these are all of her lines, I may use your audition in the actual project.
I want to come visit soon! It's been a while since we hung out, it'd be fun!
(light chuckle)
(being given a treat) Oh, thank you so much! Ooh, it looks delicious!
Kita-Q-Man is laid-back. Despite being a superhero and celebrity, he refuses to fight anybody because "his body is stiff." He enjoys taking selfies and chatting with the ladies, who are all over him.
His voice is medium-low, with a smooth, almost suave quality to it. His laid-back personality seeps into his voice, but don't make him sound too disinterested.
Note: Since these are all of his lines, I may use your audition in the actual project.
(as if preparing to help him) Fukuokalibur!... You can do it!
As expected, heh... You see that, Secret Society of Evil? This is Fukuoka's true power. (proud laugh)
(casually backhanding someone) Buzz off!
Blueron, also known as Aoiron, is one of the three people that make up Yamashiron. He is calm and collected, perhaps even a bit cold. His voice should reflect his personality, though his voice is in the medium range in terms of pitch.
Since these are all of his lines, I may use your audition in the actual project.
Please do more than one take for the voice foley!
We're from Yamashiro Gas Company. We're the Sales Department Heroes.
(voice foley - kicking Jabberyman)
Stooges? What?
These are the people of Fukuoka that the local heroes have sworn to protect. Their voices come in all sorts of varieties.
[single male civilian] (getting knocked over) Wh-oof! Hey! Ow…
[vendor] Thanks for waiting.
[crowd] (improv - cheering, clapping, ranting about how cool the heroes are and how awesome it is to meet them in person)
Orangeron, also known as Daidairon, is one of the three people that make up Yamashiron. He is boisterous and fun to be around, and absolutely loves anything relating to food.
Since these are all of his lines, I may use your audition in the actual project.
There'd be trouble if you forgot us!
(chuckle while waving) Hi.
(indignant yet shocked) Stooges?
(voice foley - kicking Jabberyman)
Tanaka is your average protagonist. He aspires to be like the heroes he looks up to.
Tanaka's voice is mid-high, and overall fairly average.
Since these are all of his lines, I may use your audition in the actual project.
I want… to be strong, like they are…
These workers are good friends of El Brave, hailing from the same town. As such, they have that same Southern accent. They help out El Brave in beating up poor Jabberyman.
Since these are all of their lines, I may use your audition in the actual project.
Dolt!
(voice foley - punching/whacking)
Let's send him right back!
Galia and Galf act like close brothers, working together in the Secret Society of Evil. Galia is childish and fun-loving, while Galf is morose and serious.
Galia can be voiced by a female, as he has such a high voice. Galf's voice is very low and gruff, almost bestial.
[Galia] (1 sec of cackling maniacally)
[Galf] (1.5 secs of low growling)
Shuraomaru is solemn and serious and has ninja-like abilities, being able to shapeshift and teleport. Maid Butler has a variety of aesthetics that can be summed up as "Androgynous goat maid butler."
Shuraomaru's voice is low and gruff, though not to the point of Galf's bestial tone. Maid Butler can be voiced by any gender, but they should sound very androgynous with a mid-high voice.
[Shuraomaru] (as if scoffing) Hmm.
[Maid Butler] (1.5 secs of light chuckling)
