DNF Duel ENG Fandub
Project Overview
Hello! You may have seen a couple of my projects for Guilty Gear: Strive pop up every now & again, primarily asking for female voice talent to voice genderbends of existing male characters in that game, to go with a few mods accomplishing the same thing, but visually only! This time, I'd like to propose a different kind of project entirely, & that's the creation of an English (fan)dub for the newly released fighting game in Arc System Works' 3D library: DNF Duel.
The main catch for this compared to my previous projects however, is that it is going to solely be a fun passion project & a bit of a challenge for myself to see if I can manage several of these sorts of castings all at once, do some rough translating where needed, & present everything in a similar amount of quality as my previous projects; Both for auditionees & for those who are interested in the possible final result! As such, this project is not going to be funded whatsoever. In other words, this is NOT a paid gig, & as such, I welcome everyone of all sorts to audition if they want to give things a shot! There's a wide variety of characters as well, so I think it'll be fun to see all sorts of different voice talent for completely different roles & characters!
This will also be a much more "long-term" project for me. My previous projects all had a 4~5 week turnover— 2 weeks for the casting call, 2~3 weeks working with the cast auditionee, & then finalizing everything into a finished product afterwards. Given how much work is to be done for something of this scale, & that it's not being funded, I'm going to give this about a 3-month period. It should be noted, however, that casting can end prematurely, if suitable voice talents are found for all the given roles. After that, whatever happens, happens, as far as how long it'll take afterwards! I won't be setting deadlines for anyone who wants to participate to make sure it's mostly a fun & lax experience for everyone involved. I still want everyone to try their best, though!
As usual, here's a few specifics (guidelines?), so you know what you're getting into!
- This game has a story mode & arcade mode for each playable character, but this is still a fighting game! Anime-esque shouts, grunts, screams maybe, & similar are to be expected!
- Being a fluent English speaker is very preferred!
- Your microphone should be of a decent quality; I know I can't ask for a lot considering this is a free project, but your microphone should at least be noise/static-free!
- Normally I'd say to expect retakes to be asked for if necessary, but again, free project! I'll only ask for retakes if necessary if you'd want to do so; Otherwise I'm fine working with what I get. (Exception would be missing lines)
- Being comfortable with your provided voice being used & published in either a downloadable modification for the game, showcase/full-cutscene "movie" videos, & maybe both!
- Most common audio formats are fine, but .wav & .ogg are preferred! Also feel free to organize your files however you please if you are cast for a role, I will handle most of the editing in every aspect.
- Let me know your preferred method of communication in your audition so that it's easy to contact you if you are cast for the role you audition for!
If you have any questions, concerns, or additional comments, don't hesitate to contact me here! I can be reached via e-mail, Discord, or through a message on this site as well. Ask me for the first two if you wish to contact me via those methods! (This does not apply to auditionees)
Also, anyone is more than welcome to audition for multiple roles!
That's about all there is to say about this project; I will be working in the background to organize spreadsheets similar to my other projects for those who end up being cast, so stay tuned!

Latest Updates
-
Another small update from myself, but I hope to change that in the future! This time around, I've decided to go ahead & cast some more roles. This brings us down from the whooping 44 the project started with to 27 roles! Almost half have been cast now! To those that have been cast so far, congratulations! I've already reached out to some of you to begin voicework for what is currently available/ready to be done, but for others I'm not quite ready to start yet! Please bare with me. Also, as the project is no longer searchable, which heavily impacts things, I've gone ahead & made a copy of the project so that it's re-listed, & extended towards the end of the year. You can find the new listing here: https://www.castingcall.club/projects/dnf-duel-eng-fandub-2 If you've auditioned here & have not been cast yet, don't be scared by the fact that auditions were not transferred to the new project! I still have all of them here & you are still part of consideration for any roles you may have auditioned for. With that being said, any roles that have already been cast were removed from the list of roles on the re-listing for convenience. Thank you for your interest in the project! I hope to have something to show finally in the future!

More Roles Cast, Unfortunate Delays
Couple of things to say in this update! But first thing's first: I've gone ahead & started to properly cast people in some of the roles. (Namely the more popular ones, such as Berserker, Grappler, etc.) Instead of closing them off just to avoid audition oversaturation, I've gone ahead & picked who I believed to be the best for those roles. Thank you to everyone who auditioned so far! If you didn't get cast for a role, there's still plenty of others up in the air! Secondly, as much as I hate to say, I'll likely have to delay actual work on the project for another month or two. I heavily overestimated how much I need to prepare before voiceovers & such can begin, so please bare with me. (To those cast for any roles, feel free to reach out to me in advance just to have your preferred method of contacts or such established for the future! Even if you don't, I will contact you at a later date myself when everything is ready, whenever that may be.) Another thing is related to the casting of roles: While I definitely appreciate a lot of the auditions I receive for any of the roles, there's definitely some smaller roles (Or otherwise, in some cases) that are pretty unpopular. I'd love to see the less popular roles get some more attention, but don't let me stop you from applying to the more popular ones regardless! Lastly, the position for assisting with the spreadsheet scripts to help speed things along is still open, just as a reminder! I'm also still looking for translators, so if you're open for either -By Ear- audio translation (Either from Chinese, Japanese, or Korean [Japanese preferred]) or audio transcribing for Japanese, feel free to contact me for that as well! Thank you for everyone who's shown interest in this project, either just giving it a glance, auditioning, or otherwise! Seeing the reception has definitely been a small motivator to get things done, & I'm really hoping that this can reach fruition at some point. Thank you again! -
Role Added for Script/Spreadsheet Assistant
Due to some unforseen circumstances & my workload increasing, I've decided to open the role for an assistant to help me finish the Scripts/Spreadsheets to provide for the Voice Actors, so that I can keep things on track & not have to push back any dates. Due to the nature of this role, & the expectation of quality/professionalism for it, this role WILL be paid for. You can find info in the role itself, or message me for specific details if needed. -
2 New Roles, 2 Closed Roles
After going through things a little, I realize there's 2 more (Maybe more, but they'll be added if I see them!) small, extra characters in some story modes that will also require voicing. I've added them towards the bottom, as they're extras! Also, I've noticed a -very- large quantity of auditions for Berserker & Ranger specifically; I think I have more than enough to choose from for these characters, so I've closed auditions for them. It'll say "cast to offsite actor" or something, but rest assured I'll be casting from those who auditioned here! I also hope this encourages some more activity for the less popular roles as well.
(This will be the only paid role, as the main nature of this project is to have fun & have things be rather relaxed; However, this role in particular is a lot of tedious, particular work with a quality expectation, so this will be paid for. The application period for this role will be brief, if possible. This is important so that, if possible, I will not have to push back the casting call date.)
For this role, you will be responsible with assisting me in creating/finishing the Spreadsheets containing the Scripts for the voice actors to work with; This will mainly concern the Story Mode part of the sheets, but may also involve setting up templates for the Versus/Battle parts of the scripts/spreadsheets, if interested.
The payout for this gig is a little awkward to figure out, so feel free to pitch your rates or similar based on the following:
- The most complete sheet I have, which contains more or less the expected end-result of all 42 sheets, is for Ranger's, which you can find here.
- You will basically sit down & watch the Story Mode for characters who have not been done yet, with the MEGA folder containing all the voice files open on the side, & write down the dialogue in each respective character's sheet as you go through, writing down the filename, folder said file is in, the written dialogue itself, the delivery/emotion used in that line, & the context of the line itself. This will be repeated until the Story Mode for all 15 characters is completely written down. (Currently at 9/15)
- If interested, you will also provide templates for the Versus Dialogue styled as shown in the example with Ranger's sheet, listing the respective Filenames as they appear (In alphabetical order). Providing entries for every other area is not required.
- If you are hired for the role, please provide your Gmail account so I can provide writing/editor access to the sheets.
- If you need more information about this role, send me a message & I'll respond as soon as possible.
Say something you think would fit
The Announcer is what you'd expect from an anime fighting game. Trying to hype up the matches & constantly radiating an air of excitement in their call-outs.
As for the Narrator, they're much more calm, typically voicing as if they were telling a story instead.
Examples of the announcer can be found in snippets here, here, & here.
As for the Narrator, you can listen to the prologue dialogue here.
(New challenger approaching call) The Wonder has called upon new seeds!
(Start of match call) The seeds of Volition attract a new challenger...!
(Prologue dialogue, as if telling the start of an epic tale) ...Just as these faint stories were almost forgotten, those known as "Adventurers" appeared, searching for warp portals from the past scattered throughout the continent...
Berserker is generally considered unhinged, & takes a twisted kind of enjoyment from fighting, showing off the full extent of his overwhelming power. They're still able to cool off somewhat, but not a whole lot.
Sounds a lot like a villain when overcome with his bloodlust, often laughing a bit maniacally during combat & provoking the opponent constantly, but is otherwise surprisingly tame when he's in a calmer state of mind.
(Addressing opponent before fight) [Short, crazy-esque laugh] Think you can keep me entertained!?
(Looking down on opponent after winning) Your flames are not enough to burn away my bloodlust!
(Determined, somewhat calm) No matter how bloody a life it turns out to be... I'll do anything it takes to survive...!
Full of energy & a bit of a friendly face, but always able to get serious when the situation calls for it. Even so, they're always ready for a fight if it comes to it, & has plenty of confidence in their abilities.
A peppy martial artist, so not the most straining to voice but still has quite a few moments where they'll get real into attacks, so still plenty to shout.
(A few grunts of exertion whilst punching a punching bag, then excitement in voice) Let's both do our best!
(After winning, complimenting opponent) I can feel your will & faith... You've got a hefty punch!
(Calm, slowly getting more excited) He doesn't realize... But I can't turn down a fight like this!
Grappler is a martial artist with one primary goal: To fight the strong, prove his superior strength, & become even stronger all the while. This goal of his ends up dictating the majority of his attitude & personality, having no problems bringing people to their knees or worse for the sake of his shows/tests of might.
As someone in constant search of strength, Grappler can be calm at times, but mostly intimidating & ending up extremely excitable at the provocation of a challenge.
(Quick grunt of exertion, kicking off of floor, then a mix of intimidation & warning in voice) Watch yourself, you're in my domain.
(After defeating opponent, slightly condescending) Train more. Whether it is revenge or fear that drives you... Keep that in the corner of your heart.
(Bluntly, matter-of-fact) Losing to foes stronger than yourself is just a way of life. If this angers you, seek me out... I'll give you the fight you yearn for.
Inquisitor is a priest who believes in no mercy for heretics, striking down & burning those who've sinned without hesitation. They're entirely devoted to their religion, & are also a very serious, but still caring character, when it comes to the innocent.
Somewhat tame character, but shows no signs of weakness & no tolerance for nonsense.
(Calmly, whilst reading scripture, then with intimidating force) Faith must be taught firsthand, not by words. Heretics will be punished!
(After defeating opponent, somewhat insulting) Your winds are not enough to blow out the flames endowed by God!
(Serious, intimidating) Foolish amounts of mercy has blinded you. It's only a matter of time until you're corrupted.
Dragon Knight, while they can take situations seriously & at times show signs of maturity, are still typically shown to have a bit of a childish nature, though they care very deeply for their dragon partner.
A bit more on the energetic side, & often calling out their attacks alongside commands to their dragon companion fairly often. Still has quite a bit of shouting going for them.
(Short shout of effort, landing from a great height, then high confidence in voice) I'll show you what real power is! [Short giggle as pet dragon nuzzles cheek]
(After winning, demeaning opponent) I don't know how things are in your world... But in the history I know of, Dragons have never lost against weak humans like you!
(Slightly inspiring, uplifting) Even if you die to the blade of your enemy... Do not lose your pride as a Dragon.
Ranger is a happy-go-lucky trickster, playing his opponents & having fun doing it. Also a bit of a "cool" guy, often showing off & making constant quips during combat & keeping a cool attitude despite most situations.
Cool & a joker, doesn't do a whole lot of shouting whatsoever, preferring to make occasional taunts or quips instead while dancing around his opponents while hailing them with bullets.
(Slightly energetic & cocky) Phew, I was almost late, wasn't I? You can draw your guns first. You won't stand a chance if you don't.
(Impressed, but also slightly taunting) A mix of blade & bullets... That's new, but my shooting skills seem to be on a higher level than yours!
(Cocky, confident) You're an Empyrean too? Heh, I wonder who's bullets will fly faster?
Hitman is exactly what his class describes: A calm, no-nonsense mercenary who gets the job done with incredible efficiency, making quick work of his targets. He can seem a bit heartless & too serious at times, but he has a deep respect for the group he is a part of.
Like mentioned, Hitman is quite serious, not even showing much signs of excitement in any sort of way. Still raises his voice at times, but otherwise a calm & collected character.
(Somewhat hot-blooded, slightly intimidating) The Company will take control of this place!
(Slightly impressed, but speaking matter-of-fact overall) You're as spectacular as the stories I've heard about you... But you cannot take on our organization all alone.
(Serious, slightly antagonizing) "The Company" is not your average group of mercenaries. It's not just about the money for us, unlike you.
Kunoichi is, as her title states, a Kunoichi. A dark elf mastering the art of working in the shadows, not too far off from an assassin. She's devoted & loyal almost entirely to the clan her master belongs to, & especially so to her master himself.
She's rather calm, but her confidence in her stealth leads her to being surprised often when things don't go as planned for her. Her mannerisms lead her to rarely raise her voice, but she can still be found shouting frequently during combat.
(Intimidating & slightly hot-blooded) I must do as my master commands. Apologies, but you must die!
(Slightly taunting) Revealing your aura like that will make you a target for everyone.
(Calm, followed by a small bit of intimidation) You seem to know my situation... Then you won't feel victimized from not knowing why you must lose here!
Enchantress is extremely child-like in nature, often seeking fun in everything & wanting not much more than just that. As such, she has plenty of child-like mannerisms, though with a small sense of "royalty," sometimes seeing herself as a princess of sorts or similar.
Having the mannerisms of a child, Enchantress is either showing plenty of energy in her voice, some sorts of curiosity, or childish fits when portraying negative emotions.
(Mix of playful & slightly intimidating) [Giggle] Do you want to become my doll, too?
(Mix of enamored & excited) A master...? I also want a loyal doll like you!
(Somewhat surprised, but small mix of happy & excited) Really? That's good, Madd! We don't have to hide you anymore!
Vanguard is a slave under the De Los Empire, serving under Cyrus. He's an extremely strong & competent warrior, & is mostly enamored with great strength, enough to slaughter his enemies. His emotions are in a constant state of seriousness, determination, & to a degree, fighting spirit.
Even as someone with such a personality, Vanguard is often calm in a neutral situation, but is very fast to become hot-blooded & focused during combat, often shouting & making the exertion behind his moves well known.
(Serious, intimidating) Not coming at me? Then let me come to you!
(Slightly insulting & demeaning, almost taunting) The ultimate martial art? I don't care about stuff like that. All you need is the strength to stand on your enemy's corpse.
(Mix of serious & slightly determined tone) I don't know what this Empyrean place is... But your desire to see the world above the sky, I will see to it.
Swift Master is an extremely cocky, overconfident mage, often flaunting his control over the winds & constantly looking down on or mocking/provoking those around him. Even so, he is still shown to have a level of uncertainty to himself & is easy to set off when provoked, especially hating when he's called a child or similar.
In combination with his overconfidence, Swift Master is often speaking in an undermining tone, even during combat. However, this tone & attitude of his can easily fall apart under the right circumstances.
(Slightly taunting, then cocky) Does my power interest you? It's not my fault if you get overwhelmed!
(Genuinely impressed, but maintaining overconfident tone) Phew! That was something! I almost lost to your pace!
(Absolutely infuriated) Why does everyone keep calling me a kid!?
Ghostblade is, almost quite literally, a dead man walking, accompanied by a spirit that not only fights with him in combat, but could also be considered an acquaintance, or even friend. Ghostblade themself however, shows very little strong emotion, mostly only giving subtle hints of whatever they're feeling if they don't hide it entirely.
Considering their character, Ghostblade isn't very expressive & doesn't convey very strong emotions in their speech, being a bit monotonous as well as a result.
(Barely intimidating) ...Prepare yourself.
(Slight intrigue) A red Ghost Arm... So he must also be a...
(About to enter a fight) Your "Will" & mine... Whose will remain after we clash?
The spirit that accompanies Ghostblade, referred to as "Ghost," is usually the more expressive, but also more level-headed of the two, often providing some insight or keeping Ghostblade in check when deemed necessary.
Ghost is a lot more expressive, especially during combat compared to Ghostblade, so expect some shouting & such outside of regular dialogue. Also a lot more "gruff" & older sounding than Ghostblade himself.
You can find a quick preview video of the character alongside Ghostblade here.
(Excited, ready to fight) This one seems quite feisty! Let me lend you my strength!
(Hot-blooded) [Short laugh] Here I go!
(Proposing to clear a battlefield of civilians to Ghostblade) The crew will only get in the way. Do you want me to lend you strength to get rid of them?
Troubleshooter is from similar origins as Hitman, though much more of a lax & casual loose-cannon type of person than those from the mercenary group Hitman resides with. With both a literal & figurative "explosive" personality, Troubleshooter tends to quip & joke around while fighting & blowing up his opponents with all sorts of explosives, then enjoying a drink immediately after the job is done.
As a polar opposite to Hitman, Troubleshooter is a lot more relaxed & carefree, carrying this over into his mannerisms regardless of combat or not. Emanates the kind of aura of "someone you'd love to have a drink with."
(Confident, "cool" tone) Here you are. [Very short exertion of effort] No takebacks allowed, 'kay?
(Questioning, but maintaining slightly casual tone) You say it's for the good of "The Company," but how long are you going to turn your back on the truth?
(Confident, very slightly cocky right before starting a fight) I'm sorry this has to happen between fellow mercs, but this job is important to me as well!
Crusader is a priest, much like Inquisitor is, but while his devotion to his religion is just as strong as her's, he is much more merciful in his methods & more forgiving to those deemed to have committed sin. Just as well, their focuses are on the healing & protection of others, as opposed to Inquisitor's execution & burning of many. He's more of a gentle giant kind of person, having a calm, gentle soul while maintaining a very intimidating figure.
Crusader, while a much more calm person, can still become a serious, determined force to be reckoned with, though not on a level one could call "hot-blooded."
(Offering a prayer, then serious tone of voice) God, grant me your strength...! The time of judgement is upon us!
(Solemn, almost sad & worried) Sister... This is not His will.
(Reluctant, wishing to avoid conflict) A pity... Is there no way to solve this with words?
Launcher is a dutiful & serious commander of sorts, able to lead those around her with a somewhat wavering confidence. She's constantly keeping up a serious, diligent air around herself, even despite worries she may have otherwise. Occasionally, however, she'll have moments of acting up, though quick to correct herself.
While her mannerisms are what one would expect of a commander, she still can get a little hot-blooded at times, but never completely breaking out of her serious attitude despite that.
(Serious & slightly commanding, then excited) Target acquired! Requesting for artillery support!
Operation start!
(Praising self slightly, noting opponent's strength) When it comes to physical training, I'm not too shabby myself!
(Mix of slight regret & annoyance) I never thought that I, as a member of the Guard, would be getting chased by soldiers...
Lost Warrior is a mysterious, solemn figure, rarely showing much emotion. As a fragment of a much greater being with little memory of who he is, he often finds little meaning in everything, even despite his incredible power.
As stated, this character shows very little emotion, being almost entirely monotonous in their speech, but with very dignified mannerisms. Rarely shouts, if ever.
(Slightly monotonous, but intimidating) Why don't we test... The Will of the World... Through you?
(Slightly solemn) There will be no one controlled by a Demonic Lance here any longer.
(Preparing to fight Adventurer, but slightly monotonous) Whether "The Gate" is worth remaining... Will be tested by your "Will."
Nemyr appears as an otherworldly being, promising what those seek the most by gaining & collecting a strange power within them & several others, referred to as Adventurers. She comes off as a deity, with an almost motherly tone to her speech & seeming calm at all times.
Due to her personality & mannerisms, she can seem rather calming & "safe" to those she interacts with, rarely ever straying from giving off this feeling as she speaks.
(Soft-spoken, calming) Please, allow me to introduce myself. My name is Nemyr. (Pronounced Neh-Meer)
(Soft-spoken, somewhat matter-of-fact, explaining situation to unaware person) Those born with the "Will of the World," they may not know it... But they were chosen by the world itself.
(Soft-spoken, explaining whereabouts to cautious, anxious person) This is the place where all possibilities & planes meet, "Wonder."
Cyrus is a very highly respected (& in some cases feared) Imperial officer, often found commanding other soldiers around as their captain. As befitting of her position, she's a very serious woman,
As a high-ranking Imperial officer, Cyrus composes herself seriously, but with a somewhat intimidating demeanor.
You can find a short scene in which the character appears here.
(Objectively describing situation to knight, matter-of-fact tone) Think about where we are. If they find out Empire soliders are here, then...
(Shouting commands with authority to soldiers) Now! We leave the Principality territory before dawn!
(Speaking with little interest to another) You can't stop him now. He'll return when he's fulfilled his personal duty.
Siusha is the owner of the tavern/bar that most Adventurers find themselves in, offering many of the main characters a safe, temporary refuge or similar. She's very laid-back & friendly, though often overlooking most trouble for better or for worse.
As a very relaxed character, she's typically not caught too off-guard by much, & rarely goes above or below a soft tone of speaking.
(Welcoming Adventurer warmly) Welcome. Why not have a drink & take a break?
(Slightly defeated, but not exactly annoyed) [Sigh] Adventurers... Just when you think you know them...
(After saving Adventurer from trouble) Everything's fine. Looks like we were able to lose those soldiers.
Karakas is the head of the Adventurer's Guild, & while definitely on the older side, acts a fair bit younger than his looks & age may imply, though he can still show large amounts of maturity & seriousness when need be.
An odd mix of dignified, reckless, & a small bit rowdy, Karakas is more out-spoken than Siusha is, & it shows through in his mannerisms. Also a bit more on the gruff side.
(Introducing self) Nice to meet you. I'm Karakas, the head of the Adventurer's Guild.
(Slightly excited after watching a commotion unfold) Heh, you put on quite the show! I gotta say, I'm impressed.
(Slightly caught off-guard, questioning) Wait, you don't know what a "Wonder" is? Surely you've heard rumors?
Luther is the captain of the Saint Horn ship, though is a seemingly relaxed & laid-back man with little urgency. Even so, as a captain, he still does his best to be the "adult" of any situation that may arise, often attempting to diffuse problematic situations before they get worse & trying to avoid conflict when possible.
While he can be a responsible person at times, it typically comes off as half-hearted, & a bit lacking in energy. Otherwise, typically a friendly, well-mannered & meaning person all around. Very slightly on the gruff, older side.
(Calmly speaking, explaining where Adventurer is) I'm Captain Luther. You're currently aboard the Saint Horn. Perhaps you've heard of the ship that flies the skies?
(As Adventurer is about to leave, friendly tone) Ah, leaving already? That's a shame. Would be glad to have someone like you join the Resistance.
(Slightly nervous, trying to diffuse a fight about to break out on the ship) H-Hey, no need for that... I don't need any damage done to the hull...!
Natalia is a member of the Saint Horn's crew, but is a lot more on the reckless & childish side. She's quick to jump to conclusions & "shoot first, ask questions later," making her constantly need to be reigned in by those around her.
Due to her childish & brash mannerisms, Natalia is typically raising her voice or voicing her (often negative) opinions on a situation, leaving a small bit of a short-tempered child impression on many who come across her.
This character's appearances are extremely brief, so you can find multiple short bits of dialogue here, here, & here. (You may have to watch a little further into each link for more dialogue)
(After watching Adventurers warp onto the ship, surprised) Hey! Captain! Quickly, over here!
(Asking completely bluntly) What should we do with them, Captain? Should I just throw them overboard?
(Slightly annoyed, hint of boredom in voice) So... Let me get this straight. Somehow you ended up -here- of all places?
Ludmilla is another member of the Saint Horn's crew, being the 2nd most responsible-acting person (Perhaps even the most, considering one's views on the captain) & ultimately more on the serious side than most of the other members.
While she's no stranger to being a little friendly, she's more of a serious, business-focused person, having slightly more refined mannerisms than those around her.
(Surprised, caught off-guard) Ah...! Captain, quickly! The "Wonder..." It's...!
(Contemplating what to do with Adventurer) Captain, what should we do? If we're to overpower them, we should act first.
(Commanding, but with silght worry) Natalia, stop! Withdraw your blade!
Zeldine is the captain of the Guard in Ghent, & takes her position very seriously. However, she does still show concern for those closer to her, as shown in her interactions with Launcher.
Befitting of the guard's captain, Zeldine is a very disciplined & serious person, with both showing through in her mannerisms & speech.
(Describing mission to commander) A "Wonder" has appeared in the Lawless District. Lead your squad there to investigate.
(Very slight concern, but still spoken diligently) Are you still blaming yourself for what happened? It was my fault that mission ended in failure.
(Bluntly, explaining reasoning) Kartel members or not, they were Rangers, not civilians. Unpredictable outlaws.
Vonnegut is a bit of a shrewd, anything-for-personal-gain kind of man, who is often found tied up & bound by the main cast. In most cases, even after their help, he's hesitant to lend a hand or information in return unless forced into it otherwise.
Befitting of someone who will do anything for profit while being the most meek man around, Vonnegut sounds more in-line with an older merchant, with undertones & mannerisms reflecting what you'd expect from a shady businessman.
(Stammering, trying to make excuses) W-Why yes, I... I do run this t-train! After r-r-rumors had spread, w-well, everyone flocked here! Y'see?
(Intimidated, slightly cowering) The train doesn't... run through Zelva anymore. We were told to change routes...
(Slightly anxious & worried) H-Hey! M-Miss! You forgot to finish untying meeee!!
Rupert is a seemingly high-ranking or similar member of The Company that Hitman is also a part of. He's not nearly as dead-serious as Hitman is, but still takes the role of responsibility extremely seriously.
Rupert is a mix of dignified & a little more on the lax side, showing some concern at times for fellow members at times as well. Also a bit on the gruff side.
(Slightly bluntly, but also somewhat solemn) Those like us aren't very common anymore. But it can't be helped.
(Seriously, trying to deter revenge-driven conflict) We shouldn't cling to those that are gone. I want you to focus on getting The Company through the "Wonder."
(Warning, slight worry but maintaining serious tone) They say those with the "Will" can sense others who possess it as well. Be careful.
Bill is another member of The Company, accompanying Hitman for most of his journey during the story. He's a bit more on the reckless side, but still follows orders diligently
Being the less collected of the three, he's a bit more on the louder side, but not by much.
(Explaining newly gained intel) Apparently, those suspected of having "Will" fought, almost to the death, within laying eyes on eachother.
(Responding to status report) Yes. Due to the soldiers on patrol, we were able to work with no one around.
(Slight, but genuine concern) Boss? Are you alright? That was a big commotion.
Brand is another member of The Company who accompanies Hitman during the story. He's the somewhat more level-headed one between himself & Bill, but still has his moments of shortcoming.
Has similar mannerisms to Bill, but a bit more dignified & calmer in general. Little less on the gruff side than Bill is.
(Unsure, doubting received instruction) I see... a little boy at the destination. ...Is he really the target...?
(Calmly affirming situation) Boss, I'm confident we lost the soldiers. Where should we go next?
(Questioning, cautious & somewhat interrogative tone) Who are you? Have you been waiting for us...?
Rosenbach is the Archbishop of the Order of Priests, whom of which Crusader is also a part of. A highly respectable person who gives respect & kindness in turn, his old age has not weakened this or his devotion one bit.
As an elderly, dignified man, Rosenbach is typically shown as very calm & caring, never really raising his voice & emanating a warm aura about him.
(Calm, welcoming) Welcome, brother. Your journey has surely been difficult. I apologize for having you come so far despite being so busy.
(Jokingly replying to question) They say you get wiser with age, but alas, even I cannot answer that.
(Calmly, as a parting blessing) May God's grace be with you.
Antonio is the Bishop of the Lemidia Capella cathedral, part of many secondary cathedrals under the Order of Priests. He is extremely devoted in his faith, similarly to Inquisitor, & seems to also firmly believe in similar methods of punishing sinners. He is calm, & takes the duties of the Order very seriously, but seems to have a very silght lack of uptightness about him.
Befitting of a Bishop, Antonio is often a very calming person to be around, though even the thought of horrors such as murder & burning of others in the name of justice & purifying the sins of many seem to have no effect on him whatsoever.
(Bluntly, somewhat reassuring) Ah, you were performing divine retribution? The scent & marks it leaves... Not at all unpleasant.
(Questioning, but only with a slightly curious tone) You would choose this path? Even if it is full of blood & ash?
(Explaining circumstances of job) In the dream, the light chose you, Sister, as the one qualified for this investigation.
Sizki is an extremely minor character who only appears in the opening of Grappler's story. She's also a Striker, much like the aptly-named main Adventurer character. She's rather calm, & despite Grappler's mannerisms & goals, sends him off on his journey on friendly terms.
Sizki is calm & collected during her screentime, & is somewhat friendly to Grappler, even cracking a chuckle towards him as he's stating his reasons for leaving.
(Bluntly speaking, but calm) They're afraid of you, not the "Black Pearl."
(Somewhat light-hearted) Hah, so that's the real reason. The reason you're actually leaving.
(Questioning, but not interrogating, as if to a friend) Where will you go now? To look for the sacred texts regarding the ultimate martial arts?
This character appears very briefly in the introductory chapter for Inquisitor's story; They're seemingly a bit on the shy side, & not too familiar with the ways of the Inquisition. Sounds a bit more on the younger side.
[Clear discomfort, after being saved from danger, but via cruel methods]
"I... I am fine..."[Protesting, clear dismay]
"Even despite what they may be, they were once someone's kin... Is this truly necessary?"
The Shonan noble acts as Kunoichi's master; He appears very briefly in the first chapter of Kunoichi's story, to assign her mission to her & give her a reason to kick off the events of her story. While somewhat dutiful, he's also fixated on restoring the Shonan clan to its former glory, & bring it back to its feet.
[Calm, then slightly solemn]
You've always done plenty for our clan, taking care of all the dirty business yourself from the shadows. But despite your efforts... Surely you're aware our clan is declining.[Slightly determined, in response to why he's sharing crucial information]
I am only entrusting you with all of this... because I have faith in you.[Firm, but slightly praising, after Kunoichi pledges to succeed even if it means death]
I will not allow such things. If I did, I'd be treating you as no more than a pawn. You -must- return, alive!
Self-explanatory name, simply an Imperial knight. Has a voice more on the older, gruff side, & is often a rather unamused, annoyed type.
(After patrolling, updating other knight) I didn't see anything out there. How about your side?
(Annoyed, slight anger) Tch, damn slave... Can't even follow orders.
(Shouting commands) Search the area! They can't have gotten far!
Self-explanatory name, simply another Imperial knight. Has a voice that's more on the younger side, but still mature. Often the calm type.
(Serious, dutiful approaching captain) Captain! We've searched the whole area, but no sign of him.
(Uneasy, somewhat under breath to another knight) Hey, you sure we can trust him? After all...
(Attempting to apprehend target) Stop right there! There's nowhere left for you to run!
Self-explanatory title, yet another Imperial knight. Much more on the younger side, & also a lot more of someone who emanates inexperience, typically a bit more of a worry-wart.
(Contemplating orders, silghtly confused) Hmmm... We should probably just stick to the plan, But...
(Bewildered, slightly cautious) Hey... What... What is this?
(After being passed by target) Wha? Hey! Stop right there!
A slightly more stood-out of the knights, as an officer. Also on the younger side, but doesn't get much of any screentime at all, so it's hard to say anything else about the character.
The only video footage I can find of the character can be found here, though it's only one line.
(Slightly curiously) Should we give chase?
(Visibly annoyed & angry) Why, that little...!
(Responding somewhat calmly to captain) Yes, Captain? What can I do for you?
Self-explanatory title; Simply an imperial soldier. Is a bit on the young side, but not extremely young. Usually calm until something (Typically involving the Adventurers) comes along to change that.
(Calm, casually talking to another soldier/guard) Well, that's not surprising. Most Adventurers wouldn't want to get on the Principality's bad side.
(Commanding, trying to apprehend someone fleeing) You! Stop right there!
(A mix of frustrated & out of breath after chasing someone) Damn! Where'd they go? Think we lost 'em?
Self-explanatory title; Simply an imperial soldier. Particularly on the young side. Usually calm about things until something (Typically involving the Adventurers) comes along to change that.
(Calm, explaining the situation to an Adventurer) You may already know, but the Wonder is towards the top. Unfortunately, we were told to wait here & stay on guard duty. Hopefully you understand why we can't accompany you.
(Warning, but commanding as a suspicious figure approaches) That's far enough! Any further & you will be considered a threat!
(Struggling, in pain) You... need to run! If any more explosions go off, then...!
Self-explanatory name; Simply a guard of the city known as Ghent. Sounds a little young, but not too young at all. Typical serious, somewhat stuck-up guard type of behaviors & mannerisms.
(Cautiously, uncertain) Hey, you don't think those are members of the Kartel, do you? Just look at how they're dressed...
(Questioning, slightly intimidating) You don't look like you're from here. Who are you? What business do you have here?
(Caught off-guard, surprised & correcting self) C-Commander!? I-I didn't realize...! Forgive me!
Self-explanatory name; Simply a guard of the city known as Ghent. Sounds a little young, but not very. Typical serious, somewhat stuck-up guard type of behaviors & mannerisms.
(Questioning, slightly intimidating) What business do you have here in Ghent? You look awfully suspicious...
(Seriously, addressing other guards) Suspicious individuals armed with weapons, requesting backup...!
(Shouting commands to Adventurer) State your background, now! Or we'll be forced to take you in for questioning!
