Demon Slayer Abridged (Kimetsu no Yaiba Abridged)
Project Overview
Hey there! My name's Josh, and I am currently working on an abridged version of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba. A little while ago, my friends and I decided we wanted to try our hand at abridging as a fun project. This will be our first attempt but don't worry, we know what we're doing... or at least I think we know what we're doing. All jokes aside, I have 5-6 years of editing under my belt, and I've practiced animating lip flaps, doing sound design, masking, etc. and honestly, I'm pretty happy with the results so far. Of course, a project as big as this isn't easy to do without voice actors, so that's where you guys come in! PLEASE NOTE, we aren't monetizing this series, so we can't pay anyone. We are planning to make a Patreon eventually, though! Just for an idea of the rate we are planning on putting out these episodes, the plan is to have at least 1 episode every 2 months (which I'm aware is a bit ambitious, don't worry, I know we can pull it off.)
This casting page will be for the first 3 episodes of casting, so if you don't see a certain character you wanted to audition for, keep up to date by joining our Discord so you can be notified when we make more listings for characters in the future (bottom of description.) One last thing, this pretty much goes without saying for an abridged series, but there will be swearing. A lot of it. Just thought you should know. Alright, now that everything has been said, here are the requirements:
1. Good mic quality and recording setup (meaning, no headphone microphones, internal mics, etc., and make sure you have minimal reverb when recording.)
2. Have a Discord account (and be active on it) so we can communicate properly.
3. Please do two takes so we can get a good idea of your voice.
4. Have fun with the lines you're given!

Tanjiro is the main character. In the main series, his entire family is killed and his sister is turned into a demon. He becomes a demon slayer so he can find a way to turn his sister back into a human. In the abridged, he starts out as a naive character and changes into a more arrogant person over time, allowing for some comedic mayhem on both fronts. Feel free to improvise on lines! Have some fun with it.
[Attempting to kill a demon] I'll take you down and avenge them!

Nezuko is the main character's sister. In the original series, she doesn't talk after she gets turned into a demon, except for one scene at the climax of the first season where she speaks internally. For the abridged, we decided we would let her "talk" more, by utilizing inner voice, essentially, her thoughts. This means if Tanjiro does some stupid shit, we can write some lines for Nezuko to insult him. We've chosen for her to be a short-tempered smartass, who basically only keeps Tanjiro around for her dirty work. Feel free to improvise on lines! Have some fun with it.
(Frustrated, then speaking in a convoluted, evil-like manner) How lucky. All of our family’s dead, EXCEPT TANJIRO. I should finish the job. I would finish the job... but... would that really be the best way to go about this? Tanjiro did all our slave labor after all. It could be useful to keep him around for a bit.

For those of you who haven't read the manga or seen the anime, Mr. Urokodaki is the main character's teacher. He takes Tanjiro in and teaches him how to use a sword and fight demons. In this version of Demon Slayer, Tanjiro starts off as a naive character who doesn't swear, so Mr. Urokodaki sees this and teaches him how to properly curse. Feel free to improvise on lines! Have some fun with it.
[Bestowing wisdom upon the main character] Tanjiro... Let me bestow some wisdom upon you. When you encounter demons, make sure they underestimate you.
