DELTARUNE Chapter 1 - A Cinematic Dub
Project Overview
Hello there! For those not familiar with my past works, I am DonkeyDude. I typically specialize in dubbing fan/official comics, and anything related to voice acting. As of lately, I've been meaning to exercise my editing techniques when it comes to dubs. And recently, I have been quite obsessed with the game DELTARUNE by Toby Fox (which is still in development). So I thought it would be a perfect time now more than ever to give this first chapter a proper dub.
What is DELTARUNE?
Deltarune is a role-playing video game created by American indie developer Toby Fox. The player controls a human, Kris, in a world where monsters live on the surface of the Earth. Kris and a classmate named Susie fall from Earth into a place called the “Dark World” where they meet Ralsei, who informs them that they are heroes destined to restore balance to the world. The players meet various beings who call themselves "Darkners" during a prophesied quest to seal the dark fountain. Mainly through the combat system, the player navigates through different kinds of bullet hell attacks by enemies, which can be resolved peacefully or through violence. The first chapter of the game was released on October 31, 2018 for Microsoft Windows and macOS for free, with later Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4 released on February 28, 2019. The game's graphics are reminiscent of 16-bit Japanese role-playing games such as EarthBound, Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga and Chrono Trigger. Deltarune is a spin-off of Fox's previous game, Undertale (for which Deltarune is an anagram), but its setting is "not the world of Undertale", according to Fox, though characters and settings may bring some of Undertale's world to mind.
What will this cinematic dub have in store?
I plan on doing this as a test-the-waters project honestly, but if you need examples of what my previous work has looked like you may check them out here for reference:

I will be giving a lot of thought into the making of this dub. Lots of sound effects, music implications, voice acting, etc.
Anything to keep in mind as I send in my auditions?
I do have some guidelines to abide by when it comes to auditions:
1. Please study at at least some of the source material. This will give you a better understanding of the project as a whole and will assist you overall.
2. Have a decent quality microphone. This doesn't exclude some USB microphones, as I trust some are capable of delivering a good amount of quality. Though XLR is preferable.
3. Multiple takes are allowed. In fact, I encourage you to read multiple takes for each line. It gives me an idea of your ability and range.
4. You are permitted to redo your audition(s) if needed, but only once. No more than that please.
5. Remember to have fun with it! Voice acting can be quite straining at times, so keep up those positive vibes throughout it all!

The Narration voice will be used for every part that has no specific character dialogue that is still there. I am not being too particular with the base voice for this, but as long as it sounds serious and calm I will not mind what you try.
(Mysterious tone, almost unsettling) Are you there? Are we connected? Excellent. Truly Excellent. Now. We may begin.
(Narrating tone, quite calm) At times, you see it flickering. The light only you can see. By second nature, you reach out, and...
(Mysterious, yet calm) With the door closed behind you, your adventure will truly begin... the power of adventure shine within you.
Susie is a deuteragonist of Deltarune and the monster Hero of Light that The Prophecy speaks of.

(Passive aggressive) Hey. Let me tell you a secret. Quiet people piss me off.
(Confused) A castle...? Why the hell is there a castle inside a supply closet...?

(Relieved, and then confused) Susie! We were ever so worried about you! ...Um, how'd you get past those spikes before?
Lancer is a nefarious Darkner kid and minor antagonist in Chapter 1 of Deltarune. While his initial goal is to destroy the party before they can reach the Eastern Fountain and seal it, he eventually joins the team and becomes an ally.

(Cocky, and over the top) Alright, you punk-a-roos! You had the luck of the draw this time, but... Next time, the losers will be YOU!!! Hahaha!!! Bye, losers!! I gotta get home before dinner!!!
(Relieved, and then confused) Well, flip my flapjacks! The clowns are back in town!
King is the primary antagonist and final boss of Chapter 1 in Deltarune. He is the father of Lancer, and one of the four kings of the Dark World.
Voice type I recommend going for should sound regal, and quite aggresive when needed. Sort of similar to this: https://youtu.be/SNN7DZyUHM8?t=39
(Cocky, and malicious) To my people, I'm a hero. To you? I'M THE BAD GUY!!!
(Disgusted, and quite annoyed) How dare you come here, Lightners...? You, that left us in the shadows, stripped of meaning... You DARE return to torment us once again?
(Intense, and determined) Hahaha...Do you see now our NEW purpose...? Soon, this world shall be blanketed in darkness...And DARKNERS shall RULE it! Then, you may see what it is like to live in DESPAIR!
Rouxls Kaard is a Darkner NPC and minor antagonist in Chapter 1 of Deltarune. He introduces himself as the Duke of Puzzles, and attempts to thwart the party by forcing them to solve his puzzles.

(Snarky and playful) Ha ha ha... So you are the "heroes" who are going to seal our Fountain? Ha, good luck.

(Slighty defensive, but very nervous) What? Wh-what am I watching on my phone? It's schoolwork, of course. A... animated schoolwork... and... H-hey, Kris, have you chosen a partner yet?
(Quite confused) Uh... H-has anyone seen the chalk? This is the third time it's gone missing, and... Y-you all know I can't start class without some!
Jevil is an NPC and bonus boss in Chapter 1 of Deltarune. Jevil can be found at the very bottom of the staircase on the ?????? floor of Card Castle.

(Deceiving, and manipulative) BOO HOO HOO, UEE HEE HEE. SO LONELY, LONELY, I BE... BUT LO, THREE VISITORS STANDING INSIDE? WHO ARE YOU FEW?
(Suspicious, yet mysterious) FIND THE KEY, AND I'LL LET YOU BE FREE, FREE. THE KEY IS HIDDEN FROM THE EYES. THE OLD SHOPKEEPER KNOWS A SECRET.
(Joyful, yet exhausted) WHAT FUN!! I'M EXHAUSTED!! YOU KIDS TIRED ME UP!! NOW I WILL SLEEP FOR THE OTHER 100 YEARS.

(Alarmed, and then calmer halfway in) Kris! Kris, if you do not wake up, we will be late for school! I will wait outside for you, alright?
(Positive, but slightly nervous) Kris... It is a beautiful day today, is it not? I hope it stays this way when Asriel visits next week.
(Proud and happy tone) Kris, honey, you have grown up so much... Someday soon you will be going off to university as well...
