DBRedub - Pilaf Saga Main Characters Casting
Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
DBRedub is an uncut redub of the original Japanese version of the Dragon Ball Anime with a brand new cast, using the original Japanese OST and aiming to stay as true to the original Japanese Broadcast as possible!
PRODUCTION
Each episode will be completely re-edited from the ground up, including the sound effects and Original OST from the Japanese version of the show.
AUDITIONING
Interested in trying out for a role? Great! Below you'll find the roles for the episode, each one will have an image, a brief description and some voice lines, naturally. For the actual project, we will use the Episodes for reference to help you figure out how to best do the lines. As far as the actual auditions go, I have a few general things I want to say:
- Provide at least two takes of every line, each take, try to do the line a bit differently.
- Don't feel obligated to imitate one of the japanese VA's that have played the character, but don't stray away from there voice type too much either.
- Clean, unedited audio! Don't add any filters/effects. If you can do it well and need to, you CAN use a bit of noise reduction, but I want to hear your voice unfiltered, also when it comes to the actual production, it'll sound more consistent if I'm processing unedited audio.
AUDITION RECCOMENDATIONS & GOALS
To elaborate on what we're looking for, we've added this section to help you if you are a little lost on what exactly we want out of your audition. When it comes to your voice, you should be able to somewhat match the Japanese performances in Dragon Ball. If you need to know what those sound like, you can reference clips on YouTube or you can go back and watch the subbed version of the show. While getting close to the Japanese is important, what is more important is that your audition has good range. This is because Dragon Ball
has a lot of powerful and emotional scenes that require said range. Play around with your voice and add improv if you think it will show more of what you can do! Most of all, you should be passionate about this project, because it is ambitious in nature.

On a certain Mountain thousands of miles from civilization, there was a lone boy, who lived in complete harmony with nature.
“Bulma and Son Goku” (Episode title)
Bulma has a temperamental personality while being very tomboyish and girly at the same time. While known for her extreme intellect, Bulma is considerably spoiled and vain, using her great beauty as an excuse for her selfish behavior. Her selfishness prevented her from being able to ride the Kintoun. While in stressful conditions, she becomes frightened easily and gets angry toward everyone including her allies. Bulma tends to have a great deal of concern over her hygiene, frequently complaining when circumstances prevent her from taking a bubble bath or replenishing her beauty supplies, even when her hygiene is the least of her worries such as being stranded in the wilderness.

His personality is strict and virtuous, exactly the opposite of Muten Roshi's, and so he often acts as Roshi's chaperone. As well as being kind-hearted, he also has a sense of gratitude as he brought Muten Roshi to Goku and Bulma with intention in rewarding them (specifically and mainly Goku) as a thank you for returning him to the sea.

Master Roshi is over three hundred years old at the start of the series and provides various stories to explain his longevity. Roshi enjoys eating home delivered pizza, which serves as a tongue-in-cheek joke because Roshi lives so far out into the ocean. He also enjoys reading, watching TV, using the internet (mainly for adult sites), playing video games and taking afternoon naps. He is a very lecherous pervert who constantly watches Wide-Thigh Aerobics on television or looks at Dirty Magazines in his spare time. He even accepts a bribe from Bulma to show him her panties in exchange for a Dragon Ball early in the series.

Yamcha is originally characterized as a deadly warrior, who fears nothing but talking to women. After befriending Goku and the others, his personality remains mostly the same, but becomes very caring and considerate of the people he protects. He is showcased as a courageous warrior who strives to be the best, but is unable to reach this status, a fact that appears to plague him. He has a great network of information, recognizing Goku's Power Pole as Grandpa Gohan's during their first fight.

Puar is very close and is extremely loyal to Yamcha, often following his orders without question or hesitation. Whenever Yamcha gets hurt or dies, Puar is the first to show concern, thus proving that he cares deeply for best friend's well-being. Aside from loyalty, Puar holds unwavering faith in Yamcha; examples include during the Universe 6 vs Universe 7 baseball match, Puar told Android 18 that Yamcha was perfectly suitable as the team's captain; another was during the Universal Survival Saga, Puar was happy when it appears that Yamcha has finally got an invite to join Goku and the others in the Tournament of Power.

Transformation!
Pilaf acts much like a child would with a new toy despite his age, he acts as if he is king of the world all because of his "toys". Pilaf, in fact, has no special powers and usually keeps his henchmen in line through various torture devices he keeps in his castle home. Pilaf can also act as a parent figure to his lackeys, once telling them he was cutting their allowance. If something bothers Pilaf, he will cry, whine, and complain like a baby until he gets his way. Despite his immature attitude, Pilaf demonstrates some degree of reserve in the manga, where he is disgusted by Bulma's "diseased" confession that she figured he would strip and violate her as punishment for not giving him the final Dragon Ball.

Like anything involving Pilaf, Shu acts almost entirely as comic relief. He usually has Mai as a foil to his comic personality, where Mai is always in a serious attitude and usually armed with Conventional Weaponry.

Mai is loyal to Pilaf and faithfully stays under his command throughout the entire series regardless of the situations. Though intelligent, Mai can be bumbling and forgetful. While she appears to be the most serious and reserved of the gang, she generally ends up playing the role of comedic relief alongside Shu and gets frightened easily. Like the rest of the Pilaf Gang, Mai displays the ability to comedically survive almost anything.
