I've been working on prequel animatic shorts for my "My Little Pony" fan audio series "Daughter of Discord." While they are mostly finished, the storyboard artists were unable to complete their work. Now I've decided to re-open production work and get these done.
I'm looking for a total of 8 storyboard artists, 2 for one 10-minute short and 6 for a 16-minute short. The sound for both are pretty much complete. We just need the visuals for some of the scenes. I'm not looking for full animation, just animatics (aka colorless, but clean storyboard).
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Must be at least 18 years old.
2. All sketches must be clean and digital (you can start on regular paper but the final submission must be digital).
3. Must have a discord account. This is how I will be communicating with the artists and putting up materials like script, audio and character references.
4. Must be willing to storyboard 1-3 minutes of audio within 6 months and give frequent updates.
5. You can audition for a slot in BOTH shorts, but ultimately you will be chosen for ONE, due to the workload. Each chosen artist will also be given ONE slot, based on their given samples.
6. There is no required style of drawing, but since this is based off of G4 "My Little Pony," you MUST be able to draw ponies. And because this is STORYBOARD ONLY, samples should have NO COLOR, or at least a limited amount of color.
This is a fan project with no profit and so is NOT paid.
Background on the shorts:
Cinnamon Roll in the Bathroom (2 slots): A parody of "Michael in the Bathroom" from the musical "Be More Chill." Takes place during episode 5 of "Daughter of Discord" with the OC Cinnamon Roll (adopted daughter of Applejack and Spike). The song part is done, but the intro and outro scenes need storyboarding.
A Different Kind of Family (6 slots): Two foals, Cinnamon Stick and Cinnamon Roll, are orphans. Cinnamon Stick is determined not to separate himself from his sister, and so tries not to get either of them adopted. Then a pony-dragon couple named Applejack and Spike (yes, I know the ship isn't canon but this project was started WAY before the series finale) arrive at the orphanage and help them see that family isn't just defined by blood. This is the short that needs more work and has lots more characters and scenes.
Please send your storyboard samples. 15-30 seconds of video is preferred (google drive links are okay). Or, if you cannot do video editing, send some sketch samples. They MUST be of characters from "My Little Pony." Note that some scenes will include Applejack, an adult Spike and Discord (though he is just in one scene) if you're unsure of who to draw.
