Bringing to life those high energy action sequences and those more quiet, personal moments. (Any gender welcome!)
Even over the roaring crowd Jack can still hear his son cheering him on like there's no tomorrow. His heart pounds harder, his adrenaline spikes, he's not going down a failure, no matter how much they paid him off. He has to be something for his son, that's all that matters. Murdocks always get back up. Creel, thinking his victory is surefire, isn’t prepared for what happens next. Jack Murdock brutally punches him in the gut, knocking the wind out of the ugly bald man. Then he throws a left to his jaw, followed by a quick right. One finished uppercut sends Creel down to the ground.
Karen steps closer to Matt and fishes out her phone and a pair of earbuds. She carefully puts one into Matt's ear, feeling his face getting warmer, and she puts the other in hers. With a few taps of her phone, music comes to life and overwhelms the scene… A warmness floods over Matt as he feels his spirits lifting higher than they've ever before… It's as if everything else stops existing, just him and Karen. He hears her breathing slow, but her heart beats faster… It's now that for once in his life he wishes he was selfish and never lost his vision, just to get one look at Karen's smiling face… He feels himself moving closer and closer to Karen, her warm breath kissing his face, the sweet smell of her perfume taking over him. Their lips are so close, but Matt pulls back when the world starts creeping back to him again… gunshots, screams, pleas all but deafen him, the sweet melody lost. He can feel Karen's disappointment radiating next to him, and perhaps his father's own disappointment too out there.
Matt Murdock is still early in his career as Daredevil, still trying to find that balance between his civilian life and his vigilante career. He's experienced darkness and tragedy in his life, but he still has a bit of light and life left in him.
We're looking for something a little less sullen and gloomy and something more adventurous and daring.
[lighthearted, talking to Karen about the time he and Foggy filled their dorm room with popcorn]: we were stupid freshmen, thought it'd make us the talk of campus. You see, the plan was to bag it all up and fill the chem lab with it after that grouch Dr. Richardson practically failed the whole class. I think if anything it proved why we specifically failed, got the ratios all out of wack. The place probably still smells like stale butter.
[Intimidating, as Daredevil]: Unless you want me to break every bone in your hand before tossing you to the NYPD I suggest you start talking. This is Roscoe Sweeney's pool hall, isn't it? So where is he?
[a little more serious, as Matt Murdock]: After my dad died it was all I could think of, it was one of the only things keeping all of that rage in check, a purpose, a promise to help the people that deserved it in their fight for justice.
Full of life and wonder, a bright spot in any room, optimistic, cheery.
[Karen responding to Matt telling her he's never heard of the Cranberries, teasingly] Nooo… there's no way… You've never heard of them? Oh no, Mr. Murdock there seems to be some gaps in your education, let me enlighten you
Karen Page, nice to meet you.
[a little more serious, asking Matt about his blindness]: Were you always… like this?
A bit of a goofball, but sincere too. Fun-loving, but bright, smart, and serious when he needs to be.
[concerned when he notices Matt's a little banged up] What the hell happened to your face? You getting into bar fights again?
[responding to Matt saying he's too busy for a relationship] Too busy with what?! We've got a small pool of clients, there's no way that's taking up all your time. You got some sort of double life I don't know about? Matt Murdock, international spy?
[giving a closing statement in court] Not only is this man's livelihood hanging in the balance but also his legacy is at risk all because of some minor code violations, simple mistakes really, that we have proven major corporations have gotten away with.
A real slime ball gangster, a bit washed up but thinks he's still at the top of the food chain. Grimy, gravely, greasy voice.
[intimidating, last line before a kill]: Well… I'm sure he'll feel real proud when he visits your tombstone. Ya shoulda taken the dive, Murdock… Slade, paint the pavement with his brains.
[trying to control his nerves and panic, but losing the battle]: This guy's serious, Slade, we ain't never run into a guy like this… You saw the pictures of damn pool hall Kates sent, this guy's a wacko. The hell did I do to deserve this…
[being a real cocky, uncaring SOB, dismissing a thug that's got something important to tell him]: [chuckles a little] The squirt? Whaddya want, kid? A job? Try the diner on 3rd, heard they're looking for busboys.
Cold-hearted killer, calculated, almost like a zombie.
[cold, commanding]: Sweeney needs a word.
[Not taking the situation very seriously, fed up with waiting around for Daredevil to possibly show up]: Well good, I'd like to get this shit all wrapped up, I'm not waiting around all paranoid for one stupid bastard to show his lousy mug.
[reassuring]: Don't worry boss, this'll all be over soon, you've got nothin to worry about.
Caring father to Matt Murdock, never gives up, driven
Matty… life's never going to be easy, it'll keep punching you and punching you, and when you finally get a break… it's over. You can either give up and lie down, or get up back in the ring and keep fighting. And son, we're Murdocks…no matter how many times we go down, we always get back up. Always.
Fuck you, Sweeney, I'm done playing your games, I'm not some sack of meat… I'm the heavyweight champ. For the first time in my life I finally made my son prouda me, and that's all that matters.
Still full of hope and wonder, roughly 9-10 years old.
Why do you keep doing it, dad? All you get is a bunch of cuts and bruises, and laughed at.
C'mon dad! Don't give up! You can do it! Fight!
All genders welcome!
[police officer] Stay the fuck where you are! Lock your hands behind your head! Looks like I just caught Daredevil in the middle of a drug deal, you're going down hard for this one you bastard. My word against yours.
[thug, hears gunshots off in the distance, not concerned] Don't bother, Frankie's got the back covered, ex-marine and all. Ain't nothing gettin past him.
