Darbi: The Fandub!
Project Overview
What is this:
This is a fan-made dub of the Webtoon comic, Darbi. Started in 2017, created by Sherard Jackson, Darbi's a comic about 'the misadventures of a bloodthirsty baby T-Rex.' This project is being made to bring more popularity to the series itself, adapt the series to be more cinematic than the webcomic, and serve as a love letter to the series.
If you're unfamiliar with Darbi, the comic follows, you guessed it; Darbi; a young T-Rex who's in charge of both defending his family as well as trying to stay alive himself in the savage Cretaceous period. Throughout his adventures, Darbi and his siblings encounter many strange and terrifying obstacles in their lives that will test their strength, courage, and trust in each other and those surrounding them.

- All that's required for your auditions to be reviewed and considered is a good quality microphone that can pick up your voice and limits crazy amounts of background noise and peaking.
- A knack for being overly expressive in your performance is also a requirement; a LOT of the characters featured in this series are precisely that. Many screaming, shouting, bawling, and just general sounds of death will be recorded, and if you are unable to commit to these requirements, do not audition as sadly, we won't be able to consider you.
- And most importantly...a can-do attitude :D
- Primary and Secondary characters:
Not much to say about these peeps; all you have to know has been said previously, most performances need to be both expressive and (usually) loud. - Minor characters:
There will be our main characters throughout the dub, but the sheer amount of minor characters heavily outnumbers them (obviously). Minor characters die a lot in this—a LOT. So There will be several 'minor characters' roles going up that will have you squawk out different voices and accents; you will need a good amount of range for the voices of this series's poor...misfortunate minor characters.

Peet is Darbi's brother and best friend; he's much more carefree than his no-nonsense brother and tends to joke around and make light of life or death situations though that does not make him an idiot; many times, Peet acts as the voice of reason in his family and can be serious if he needs to be, though most times he's either laughing at someone else's expense or trying to get stoned. It would be preferred to approach this role with a Southern accent, but it's not required.
[You're messing around and chasing a group of panicking oversized chickens.]
(Mockingly) "Wait wait wait! Come back! I ain't gonna hurt'cha! I just wanna holla at'cha! Heheheh...I just wanna...Heheheh...I just wanna chew on yer neck a little!!"[You're looking over a mass exodus when your bother asks where your siblings have gone]
(Sarcastically) "They're already in the field making new friends. Heheh"[That loopy bitch started singing]
(Muttering) "Did that loopy bitch jus' start singin'?"
Dolla's one of the main supporting characters in the series and Darbi's younger sister, she idolizes her brother and wants to be just as ferocious and savage as him. However, that doesn't stop her from also goofing around like the rest of her siblings. When she speaks, there is a potent aggressive tone, her voice low pitched and has a slight rasp to it.
[You're going nuts]
(Ferociously) "The moment this chickie business is done and my big brother finds a way to unfuck all of this you best believe there will be a cleansing!"[You have just cheated death]
(Relieved) "Huh, bless these tiny arms"[You've arrived to help out your brothers who're having a rough time]
(Confidently) "Saw you were having a bad day. What'say we make it better and I help you gut these bitches?"
Meeka and Meena are twins and the youngest and most childish of Darbi's siblings and serve a much smaller role than Darbi's other siblings. Between the two of them, they are the most 'normal' of Darbi's family and the least psychotic though that doesn't mean they're friendly; like the rest of their family, they're bloodthirsty. Meena and Meeka are each other's best friends, and they complete each other's sentences. They sound very similar to one another, although their voices can be discerned between the two. Their voices are at a high pitch and should sound like young teens.
(Meena) [Childishly] "Meeka, have some poop hahaha!"
(Meeka) [Furious] "Meena, I will claw you in the face!!"(Meena) [Yelling to the others] "Oh! Okay, NOW she's dead"
(Meeka) "Well, a dead body sends a message just as good as a live one."
(Meena) "Luckily we have four."
To be completely transparent, Shay is nowhere near sane; and, as a result, ends up being the most sporadic and altogether unhinged member of Darbi's family. There's three sides to her identity:
1. Paranoia.
2. Self-hatred.
3. Tranquility.
Each manifest as differing personalities, with the third being what one could consider the "Host". Violence tends to initiate the first persona, while anxiety can form the second; most of the time, she tends to just be Shay/the Host. Whom actually tends to be the most empathetic and caring member of the family.
[Your inner voices are having a conversation]
(Psycho) "Your claws are too long and they HATE you for it."
(Self-image) "Damn my shit's all mottled. I need a bath."
(Shay) "'Mottled' that's a funny chirp..."
(Psycho) "You smell like what you are."
(Self-image) "Really?"
(Psycho) "Blood and filth."[You're literally sitting in a corpse]
(Psychotic) "I made is a new nest out of this jeet's guts! A new home! And, it's still warm!!"[You've just fallen and gotten yourself stuck right as you're about to make a kill]
(Shay, out of breath) "Aww, dammit, shit-fire! Ugh! I'm all tangled up in here--unbelievable! Hey buddy, could you...would you...like, cut me outta here?!? Yes? No? Guessing no..."
