Danganronpa W; Despair Wilderness is a fan game of Spike Chunsoft’s “Danganronpa” series. DRW features an all new cast of 16 characters with unique Ultimate talents. The game is not set in the Hopes Peak universe.
Hello! We are currently looking for voice actors for our wonderful cast of characters. Feel free to audition for more than one character.
We're also very interested in hearing various interpretations of the characters, so feel free to showcase your range in your audition. If you have an idea for the voice of a character, don't let the voice type stop you. It's only a recommendation, because other voice styles could also work.
Don't worry too much about the deadline, we'll extend it if need be. EDIT: We have extended the deadline from the 18th to the 27th!!!

After this casting call, we'll be opening another casting call, for monokuma and two other roles that are affiliated with him, along with any extra voices we may need. Details on the project, such as the prologue and characters are further below.
Requirements for auditioning:
- A relatively okay microphone, and preferably the least amount of background noise possible.
- Commitment to project.
- An understanding of the original games is not required.

Prologue
Across the globe, schools aimed at enchanting the abilities of the next generation’s leaders, record breakers, and discoverers, were common in every country, every state.
The students who go there, hand picked by the government and school officials after going through millions of students countrywide. Only the most prodigious and talented teenagers are invited to attend these institutions. If chosen, they receive a title and are known as:
Ultimate.
While that title may seem exaggerated, these students are all prodigious, whether their skill be athletic, artistic, or academic. These students are held in high regard by society, like each and every one is a celebrity.
Japan's government recently received funding from an outside source to build an entirely new school, and leaping on the chance to facilitate the development of more of the world’s future leaders and discoverers, the school was built fast. Perhaps too fast.
The school said they were going to find and invite 16 of the most talented students in and around Japan, plus a few exchange students. It was a great opportunity and honor for everyone invited.
The location of this school was chosen to be away from cities and distractions. In the wilderness, a safe environment for ultimate students would be built. A train ride was what the investors said would be an optimal choice for transportation to the school. And so, students were chosen to attend the school.
Soon after this decision, in what seemed like a tragic accident, they all disappeared on the very train ride they were to take to the school.
Then, they all woke up in a forest, only to see the school and assume nothing was wrong.
...Until they realized there wasn't a supervisor or teacher to be seen.

A young man who has been considered a prodigy all of his life. Praised for his ability to solve complex puzzles with relative ease. Ranked top of his class in school. Tomomi views his talent as an enjoyable hobby and nothing more and was surprised when he received an invitation.
Tomomi is very responsible, having to cook and clean for his younger siblings and himself. He doesn’t work well with others and only stuck with one group of friends through school. In the past, those friends have accused Tomomi of not knowing how to have fun. He is also determined and encouraging.
Tomomi enjoys making tea and relaxing in his free time, and also beating his own puzzle world records.
Voice Type: Slightly enthusiastic, at times rather uncertain. Hajime/Makoto voice, open to interpretation!
“I’d like to begin by introducing myself… My name is Tomomi Ueno, Ultimate Enigmatologist… I’ve yet to solve the mystery to why we’re here but, that’s my current objective"
“I...I guess it’s always been that way… solving problems and finding solutions has always come natural to me… but don’t come to me for relationship advice. Never ever again.”
“P-Please Guys..! Calm down… we have to think calmly and rationally… chaos isn’t a safe environment for solving this mystery…if we stop pointing fingers, we can work together to find the answers we need."
Arin is rich and talented, but lacks the motivation to capitalize on his skills. Often, Arin lacks the motivation to do anything.
Arin is nice and relaxed most of the time but can become snarky and rude. He is a bit of a pessimist and subtlety brags about stuff at times, but he seems to have a good heart. Humor is also important for Arin, even if it comes across as slightly self deprecating sometimes. Despite his lazy nature, he can still be helpful when you're in need of advice.
Arins hobbies include twiddling away with his drum sticks that he always has on him and lazing in bed all day.
Voice Type: Chill, lazy, quick witted at times, flexible in tone. Range open to interpretation.
“Man, I'm not sure if these people have ultimate talents, or if they're just insane.... Anyway, my name's Arin, and I'm the reluctant, Ultimate drummer. Don't ask, it's a long and kind of boring story. For me at least…"
Dude, dude, dude, what do I do? I think she likes me, and I dunno what to do, like, she's really nice and kinda adorable and not as insane as everyone else, and, oh god. Dude, what do I do!?”
“You think I did this? Wow, I thought we were friends, I thought we had a trust going on here. Seems not, I guess. Well, you'll be happy to know that ding dong, you're fucking wrong, and next time you accuse someone, maybe think it through first before blindly, sorry Emiko, going ahead.”
This man is known for his countless daring stunts and never backing down from a challenge. Tsubasa is a beacon of hope who is including and friendly if not a little pushy.
Tsubasa is always following his iron will which he claims has never been wrong in his life. His self confidence drives him to be the best he possibly can. He always seems to control conversation, no matter the topic.
Tsubasa’s hobbies include doing ludicrous things that more often than not result in injury and performing absurdly long speeches for others who may or may not be listening.
Voice Type: Passionate, fiery, inspirational. Mid to lower voice range.
"From the shining gates of heaven to the burning depths of hell, the very mention of me, Tsubasa Takeda the Ultimate Daredevil, strikes wonder into all! Well… that's what I'm like for the cameras… But yeah! Feel free to talk to me anytime, my door’s always open!"
"Do not fear my peers. I've made mistakes before, it's kinda in my nature, but I promise you all that I'm going to do my best for you. I want to trust everyone here, so trust me! My iron will is telling me we can overcome this barrier! ONWARDS!”
"Yes this is dangerous. Yes this is life threatening. Yes this is an overall bad idea, but one does not simply back down from a ‘triple dog dare’.”
After making significant steps in the environmental scene at such a young age, Omugi Seitch rightfully earned his ultimate talent.
Omugi is witty and strives when it comes to debates. He enjoys being right, and much to the annoyance of people who know him, he often is. His charm and confidence fall drastically when proven wrong and he becomes rather quiet afterwards.
His ego is almost as big as his love for nature and he can be very closed minded. Arguably, he cares about the environment and nature more than he cares about actual people. Omugi is also a vegetarian and will make sure everyone in a 10 mile radius knows.
Voice Type: Sarcastic, flexible acting capabilities, smart mouth, cocky. Middle range.
"This place is amazing! Maybe a few too many buildings, but the place has been relatively untouched. Oh hi, Omugi Seitch, Ultimate Environmentalist, just wanted to let you know that plants and animals are better beings of life than you’ll ever be."
"What’s it like being in that small minded world of yours? Your brain is so polluted with misinformation that if your stupidity was plastic waste, the world would be overheating."
"Just thought I should let you know, I don't eat meat. I want nothing to do with it. I'm vegetarian.”
Korin is a rather mysterious individual who doesn’t like to reveal much about his personal life. He talks like he knows something more than everyone else.
Cold and emotionless, Korin shows no attachment to the rest of the group. He is polite most of the time but can be ruthless if someone does something moronic or something that holds back the rest of the group. He is cunning and determined.
Little is known about Korin’s hobbies or interests but he is a big fan of classical literature which results in him quoting Shakespeare’s works often.
Voice Type: Cold, slightly dismissive, monotone in some parts, persuasive, borderline manipulative at times. Middle range, slightly lower than average.
“Mr Elevon, but I guess here, I'm a mere student. I am Korin Elevon, the Ultimate Professor, pleased to meet you. I am certain you must be educated in a range of subjects, being an enigmatologist yourself.”
“In my briefcase? I'd tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. (laugh) I'm joking, probably.”
“If you and the group come to the same conclusion, then oh well, I'll guess I'll die........along with the rest of you. I get the fact that none of us trust each other but be honest about it. This game boils down to who here is the best liar. Are you going to act like ultimates... or imbeciles. You decide.”
Nonstop hours of experimenting earned him his ultimate talent. Rin is a shut in who avoids human interaction at all costs.
With the scary appearance he has you may not think Rin is the shy and timid boy he is. He can become overwhelmed easily and is anxious about many things, including general social situations. He finds it very difficult to control his own fears, and so tends to avoid people. When it comes to his work, he becomes more serious.
Rin’s hobbies include working in his lab all day and doing crossword puzzles.
Voice Type: Soft voice, louder when feeling anxious. Range open to interpretation.
“...uh, Rin… Ultimate Haematologist…please go away now… please leave...if you don’t I’ll...I’ll...I’LL BITE YOU?!”
“...It's not personal, at least not in your case, I would just like to be left alone…I don't like talking… …but speaking of that... please make Kurou leave me alone...I’m not a vampire…”
“Maybe I have made a mistake, but I'll never know because I never knew any of those people… you can't fault me for that…it's not like there's anything I can do about now."
A clueless and seemingly simple minded individual. We still aren’t quite sure how he got an invitation. He's rather superstitious and believes in the paranormal. He knows his stuff in regards to researching cryptids and other creatures, though it comes off as mostly pseudoscience.
Kurou is outgoing and energetic, but can also be very annoying. His appearance matches his personality very well, for both show him as childish. He loves to make others laugh and be happy.
Kurou loves to tell others stories of adventures he has been on, even though it has been concluded that he's likely lying most of the time. Also, he quotes sayings his grandpa says a lot, even if they make no sense.
Voice Type: Dorky, invasive, curious and perky, child-like qualities at times, mid-high range.
"Hey! My name is Kurou and I'm the Ultimate Cryptozoologist. It's super nice to meet you! What's your name? Where do you come from? What do you like to do?
...Agh, I just blasted you with a ton of questions, sorry!"
"Really? That's so interesting... I heard that the Ultimate Daredevil has some interesting hobbies. I think he's some kind of masochist, but I haven't checked it out myself. What? Was it something I said?"
"It's like my grandfather used to say, "It's better to shut up and give the impression that you're stupid." You understand, right? Just because Emiko was with you, doesn't mean she couldn't have been with Mutsuku. That proves your entire argument wrong!"
Garu Ryu, The Ultimate Luchador discovered his love for the art at a young age. Growing up he was harassed for his size, especially by the people in his school.
Ryu always aspired to be like the action anime characters he watched as a child, so he began training, day after day. He’d anonymously fight to feed his family, and due to this, not many people know his real name, or what he even looks like. He was scouted at a 100 man tournament among teens all over the world where he placed 1st, the winner was to accept the position of Ultimate Luchador.
In his free time, he enjoys to watch different anime, mostly fantasy. A lot of Garu's costumes are based off cosplay, but transformed into a Luchadoresque costume. Garu comes off as quite fiery and easily angered, but when the mask comes off and you get to know him, he can be a very loyal friend.
Voice Type: Highly flexible range, contrastable. Can be cold and dismissive to smiley cheesy and dorky. middle-mid-high range
"This place makes my stomach turn, and nothing's even happened yet. If you'd really like to know, my name is Garu Ryu, and my talent should be more obvious… Just a wrestler?! I am the Ultimate Luchador!”
"YOU’RE ALL WRONG! Listen to Tsubasa! He's the only one here even worth listening to. All of you have such cynical thoughts. You have to learn to trust others.”
"I don’t wanna become this ‘mask’.. or live behind it either.. I can’t stand playing a character 24/7… I just wanna be me. Garu Ryu, a guy who likes anime, cuddles, wrestling... eccentric costumes *laughs*... And I... between us... I, uh... nevermind."
Mizu genuinely enjoys her talent, but dislikes how her lifestyle (living quite literally on the ocean) causes a rift between her and others (not being able to make friends that she can actually stay in contact with for most of her life).
Sometimes the cultural and lingual divide between her and others can make her feel lonely, but she does her best to make up for it by spending as much time as possible with the group.
Sweet, kind and spirited, she likes being surrounded by new people, new things to learn about. Once she learns new words, cultural terms, slang etc, she can be quite clever with wordplay.
Voice Type: Open to interpretation! Open to talk to, cheesy, cheery and spirited, good pun delivery and possibly some form of accent? Not necessary. Middle range
"Hello! I sea you there...My name is Mizu and I am the Ultimate Sailor. I am sorry, but my English is not so good. Other languages yes, but English no, sorry! I am pleased to meet you!”
"Everyone is so kind! Thank you all for help, it's much nice! … oh uh, it's much appre-ci-ate-ted, appreciated! Haha, thank you! Really, you are all amazing!”
"Oh buoy, water you doing later? You're alwaves out here, why? You fish I'd stop with the puns? But Tomomi! They're so fun! ...And hey, you're smiling again. Heheh, I'm glad you feeling better now. Everything will be ok...”
Emiko is a girl who has not let her handicap prevent her from reaching her dreams. She became blind at the age of eleven after a freak accident. Her dog Watae has been her service dog ever since.
Emiko is the peacemaker of the group that tries to stop the constant bickering. She is charismatic and graceful despite her disability. Loyal to others who she believes deserves her respect. Easily frustrated but never asks for help. If somehow you manage to get on her bad side, she can be extremely passive aggressive.
Emiko's hobbies are listening to audiobooks containing delinquents and bad boys, and running her small dog training business.
Voice Type: Calm, soothing, supportive, bright. Open to interpretation, middle range.
The breeze here feels completely different to the city, it's calmer. Still, this place resonates with something mysterious... A-Ah! My apologies… didn’t know you were there, haha! Anyway, I’m Emiko Waisso! and This is Watae! I’m the Ultimate Dog Trainer and he’s the self proclaimed Ultimate Dog!
"Everyone! Please calm down, fighting amongst ourselves is the last thing we should be doing. We can't show weakness, not while Monokuma is watching us. So please, don't make it easy for that bear to divide us."
"Look… motive or not, I believe murder is wrong. It's true, in some cases there's no other option. I'd argue, you still made that choice. You decided to end a human life. You can argue that some people deserve it, but where is that line drawn? I certainly can't see it.”
Arashi very much enjoys the spotlight being on her. Her exploits on social media have garnered both good and bad opinions of her. She’s confident in her own opinions and outlook, so the negative attention tends to be read, considered, and ultimately ignored.
She paints herself as a cutesy idol, though sometimes her speech comes across as far too cunning for a mere ‘social media star’. Arashi thinks of herself as an entertainer, and doesn’t shy away when things get ugly.
She can also seem somewhat underhanded and vain at times. A bit of a loose cannon, she can be quite nice, but can very easily stir up trouble, even if only for herself to be blamed in the end.
Voice Type: One of the most flexible, very very confident, a times slightly scary, cocky, mid-high range (No valley girl voices please)
“You don't know who I am, do you? Ah, sorry, I'm actually kinda surprised, that's all! But it's okay sweetie, my name is Arashi Tokoyami, the one and only Ultimate Social Media Star and you better not forget it!”
“Hmm, no I don't like this one. The light is too bright and my gloss is too shiny. Nope, not this one either, the sun isn't reflecting off my hair right… sigh, I miss my studio… ugh and I hate this forest.”
“Hahaha, everyone has to make sacrifices for their own happiness now and then. That's just life. It's kinda sad when things don't work out though. I'm lucky enough to have gotten everything I wanted. At what price, I wonder?”
Saki is a sweet girl with a case of amnesia. She doesn’t remember what her ultimate talent is.
Saki is very dependent on others to do stuff for her, because she's either too busy worrying about it or simply just somewhat bewildered or confused. Often quite sleepy, and she can sometimes fall asleep at inopportune moments. She is intimidated rather easily, but despite this she can still keep secrets well hidden.
When under pressure or in a serious situation, she becomes more assertive, and can be rather capable. However, when not in such a situation, she can easily be equated to dead weight.
Voice Type: Soft, sweet almost tired but not too tired, more dozy than anything else. Needs to be able to shift to a serious tone when needed. Higher range.
Hi, my name's Saki! I'm, the, uh, uhmmm…I'm not sure I remember my talent? Wow, that's kinda weird. Huh...sorry, you'll have to just bare with me, -wait, how did we even get here? Oh, no one knows that? Phew, thought I was the only one.”
"I'm just *yawn* really tired. I know it seems like an excuse, but I'm not lying. Everything that's happened has been, like a victory and a loss all rolled in one and I'm just stressed out about it. Do you mind leaving me be for a while? I just, need to think about something.”
“*yawns* I dunno what you think I did, because I am very very tired, but I can assure you, the cookies are where you left them. Oh, these? They're… oh. I thought you meant the other ones. Haha, whoops.”
Born into a upper class family with high expectations placed onto her. Mutsuku was forced to study the arts and was a natural at all but took a liking to sculpting.
When first meeting her, she can seem very formal and kind if not a little snarky, but after a while her real self comes out. She is shy and compassionate. On top of that, she is also a major pervert and very lustful.
Mutsuku enjoys talking to her “friends” which may or may not be sculptures she has made.
Voice Type: Inquisitive, can be quite sensual, a quite rhetorical way of speaking, middle range, open to interpretation.
"Heyyy there, what's your name? ...Yeah, I can see it… Would you like the high honor of having me, Mutsuku Tamakuri, the Ultimate Sculptor, sculpt you? For the low low price of all your dignity, you'll have to strip for me.
Wait, where are you going!? I was only half joking!"
Phew, this statue’s gonna take a while. This is such a biiiig statue. Hey Ryu, aren't you amazed at how biiiig it is. It's going to take such a *looong* time. It's…!
It's... actually... going to be just as incredible as I described, so I hope you all enjoy it when it's done.”
“Well, I'm not one to kiss and tell. Your secret will be safe with me, and if you want, I can seal the deal with something more… hmm how should I put this… something more, physical…”
A methodical genius who uses her skills in everyday life. Chieko Shinrai is the ultimate Shogi Master and has never lost once.
While she is mostly calm and reserved, Chieko can become angry and super defensive in a heartbeat depending on the situation. She believes she has the right to command others into doing stuff for her, even though it hardly ever works.
She likes to plan out her days, and doesn't like going off that schedule. Oftentimes it's difficult to stick to her plans with all the other students around.
Voice Type: Sarcastic, can be defensive depending on the situation. Often a voice of reason, but sounds rather blunt. Semi-Smug, middle range.
This place feels very peculiar. Like the board is still being set up… Ah, hello, my name is Chieko, and I am the Ultimate Shogi Master. I'm not very interested in small talk, but if you have any questions or theories about our current predicament, I'm willing to listen.”
“I plan out my day like a strategy, and exactly nothing, absolutely nothing has gone to schedule for the entire duration of my time here. Do you people get off on perpetuating utter chaos? Or is it a deeper issue? A lack of intelligence, perhaps?"
“I'm trying to be realistic here, but you're making this impossible. Do you really not get it? Tell me, who was alone last night? Who had the time to set that trap? Answer those questions and find the solution yourself, like you're supposed to.”
Cute, energetic and probably a little insane, Umeko sure is an interesting girl.
Umeko is no doubt considered somewhat cruel, but she does it more for her own entertainment in contrast to purposefully making others feel bad. She is easily distracted and finds the smallest things amusing. Judgement from others does not affect her, as she often thinks that others are purely self serving.
Umeko loves to joke around, even if she is the only one who knows she is joking. In her free time she polishes her knife.
Voice Type: Hugely flexible, cutesy but also somewhat psycho schoolgirl who can show every emotion possible. High range.
"Give me 3 reasons why I shouldn’t kill you for just fucking looking at me!... I'm kidding *giggling* Umeko Kinoshita, Ultimate Butcher. Chop chop! You better start solving this mystery!
“I treat arguments like a big, fat, slab of meat! Ya gotta cut away all the fat to get to the good stuff...ahhhh I want a big steak… so I can rub it in Omugis face…”
“Even if I wanted to, I can’t disappoint the fans by dying this early, can I? In these few days alone I’ve had more camera time than Arashi in her whole career.”
Known throughout the streets of Tokyo for holding multiple skating records at a very young age, Kakane Amai is the real deal. She is overwhelmingly cool, calm and collected.
Kakane is best described as the big sister of the group, even insisting on the others calling her 'big sis'. She's responsible but admittedly has a small attention span. Her flirtatious and teasing nature can sometimes be her downfall, as she also has a terrible habit of saying what she's thinking out loud. Overall, she is helpful and easygoing.
On a normal day, Kakane hangs out with her squad in various skateparks. She also loves to watch old clips of her idol “Tony Falcon.”
Voice Type: Pretty Chill, protective of her friends, quite mature, mid-low range also open to interpretation
"Hey, you okay there buddy? You look like you're lost… Anyway if you need any help, just lemme know. The name's Kakane Amai, but you can call me big sis, everyone does that's just how I roll *laughs* Oh, and I'm the ultimate skater, in case the skates weren't obvious enough…
Wait just a second there, I don't think causing harm to each other would be something to enjoy, am I right? This has to be a prank guys... Like, the cameras, they're just for show, right? Just to make us feel like people are watchin… right..’?”
“I've lost someone, someone I didn't get to know, and I hate that. I wanted to be there, but then she was just, gone. There was nothing I could do.”
