[PAID] D&D Animated Series (Curse of Strahd)
Project Overview
Hello folks, I'm Shane and I'm the creator of a cartoon series retelling the events of a D&D game I played with my friends. The module we played is "Curse of Strahd" and the series is called "The Peace Guild". It releases on my youtube channel, Cool Boy Shane.
This is a loooong running project, as I'm responsible for all of the character designs, backgrounds, animation, audio editing, music, marketing, and even some of the voices myself! Time of release for each episode is never set in stone, but IS guaranteed. The episode I've previewed here took about a year (off and on!) to make. The one prior only took 3 months, and the current one I'm animating has taken a couple months so far, so time frames are all over the place as I figure out how to produce a cartoon show on my own, haha. This final one I'm casting for (Episode 5, the season finale) will be my most ambitious yet!
This is paid work! While I refuse to ask for free help, I am also currently unemployed and I can only offer a small rate. Rates are as described and are paid per video based on length of video and your character's involvement in each.
For this casting call, there are two reoccurring characters whose VAs I'll be relying on to reprise their roles for future episodes, as well as two minor characters that are only planned to appear in this episode. If you are offered the role, I'll ask to add you to a private discord server where we can coordinate recordings and voice direction. Please note that I may ask for additional recordings as I animate, depending on developing scene direction that might call for a sound or extra off screen line, or something like that. These extra sounds are included in the rate, and aren't usually very time intensive (we're talking "oofs" and "hyahs!", among other sounds).
Two or three takes are fine. No music or sound effects are needed, just your voice! Also, please make sure you're speaking clearly and have no background hiss or other noises. Should go without saying, but I'm only going to consider casting VAs who have clean recordings. Good luck everyone!

Ireena is one of the most important NPCs in the Curse of Strahd adventure, as she is the object of Strahd's twisted desires. She is strong willed and able-bodied, but she's also overwhelmed by the massive odds against her making it to safety and away from the vampire lord. She accompanies the main characters on their quest to keep her safe and defeat Strahd once and for all.
Her tone of voice is gentle when speaking with the party or other citizenry, and her voice grows strong when in the throws of battle or when faced against some other adversarial situation. As the party consists of strange characters, she ends up being a beacon of normalcy compared to them. She is often hiding her emotions as she speaks but it's clear that things are hard for her right now and her anger and despair sometimes bleed through for short moments. As she spends time with the party, however, she slowly begins to hope again, and will be heard laughing at their strange antics and rare positivity.
(somber) It all started several months ago. Spring was underway, so I was outside tending to the garden just like I do every year.
(beat, sad) Did.
(refocused) Anyway, the clouds began to darken, and just as I was about to go inside, he appeared.
(angry) Then I will not leave! This is not a negotiation, Ismark! This is a demand. I will not abandon the man who raised me.
[Ismark responds "Then his sacrifice will be for nothing!"]
(snapping) It won’t be for nothing! He gave me a good childhood, good morals, a family… those are not for nothing!
(crying while hugging the heroes) You are all risking so much for me. I owe you my life.
Tally is a character outside of the main story who exists alongside myself as the narrator. She's a black cat that can talk, and so her delivery should sound very relaxed, aloof and... well, catty! She's a minor character, but starting from this episode will be a recurring role.
(flatly) I’m not a boy, and I don’t want your hat. Anyway, finish your story. I thought it was very interesting.
(lazily) Names are a human invention.
(hears a bad suggestion for a name)
(slightly annoyed) Okay, humans may have invented names but at least give me a good one.
Father Danovich is a deeply troubled priest whose son was turned into a vampire spawn. He has been hiding this fact for weeks and is on the brink of a mental break down from lack of sleep and constant, feverish prayer. His heart is good, and his love for his son true, but he is full of fear for what Doru has become and what he might be forced to do...
His voice should be deep and operatic, since his profession is an orator for the chapel. His emotions swing wildly and intensely thanks to his current mental state. When auditioning for him, think of a stage actor in a classic drama and how over-exaggerated the deliveries can be. A good reference for how intense he can get would be Dr. Orpheus from "The Venture Bros", except more distraught and sorrowful.
(dismissive and loud) I’m perfectly fine, and not accepting visitors at this time! Now please, go away!
(hopeful and then forlorn) Yet just two weeks ago, he miraculously returned to me! I was so overjoyed to see his face again! I embraced him and wept… but I realized something was not right. He was cold to the touch, and he looked at me with disdain. “Get your filthy hands off me” he screamed, and began cursing my name. I took him in, gave him food and water, but he could not keep it down and demanded… blood.
(eyes wide with fear) Morning Lord save us… it’s him…
Doru is Danovich's son and newly turned vampire spawn. Doru thought he could use his father to lure in victims to feed on, but was trapped in the church cellar and now suffers from intense hunger.
Doru is a starved, crazed sociopath whose only goal is to kill and feed. He does a lot of screaming from the basement, and so his voice should sound hoarse and scratchy. This would actually be a role well suited to a screamo singer! As for tone, he's an out of control villain. Think aggressive, scheming, and filled with bloodlust.
Update: Remember! The first two lines are actual screams. Don't "whisper-scream" because it won't sound authentic and your audition will be rejected pretty quick. I need to know you can really let it out because the role involves quite a bit of it! (You may have to let others know beforehand that you're going to be screaming for an audition too, so as not to alarm anyone.)
(screaming in apparent agony) FATHER!!! I’M STARVING!!!
(still screaming, accusatory) HE LIES!!! I AM TRAPPED AGAINST MY WILL, PLEASE HELP ME!!!
(hostile) You haven’t come to free me… my pathetic father sent you to do what he could not. But he sends a wannabe hedge-mage and… a child!?
