Cell Block Tango [Closed/Discontinued]
Project Overview
"Cell Block Tango" is a song from the 1975 musical Chicago, with music composed by John Kander and lyrics written by Fred Ebb. It features the female criminals singing about how they ended up in jail. The song was originally performed by Chita Rivera, with Candy Brown, Cheryl Clark, Graciela Daniele, Michon Peacock, and Pamela Sousa. "He had it coming" is a refrain throughout the number, in which one prisoner describes how they killed their man.

Known as "Pop", Liz sings about killing her husband, Bernie, who likes to chew- no... pop- his gum.
*Spoken* "You know how people have these little habits that get you down? Like...Bernie! Bernie likes to chew gum--no, not chew. Pop!"
He had it coming, he had it coming
He only had himself to blame! If you'd have been there, if you'd have heard it
I betcha you would have done the same!
Known as "Six", Annie sings about her Mormon husband who has six wives.
*Spoken* "I met Ezekiel Young, from Salt Lake City, about two years ago, and he told me he was single, and we hit it off right away. So, we started living together. He'd go to work, he'd come home, I'd fix him a drink, we'd have dinner. And then I found out."
He had it coming, He had it coming, And then he used it,
And he abused it
It was a murder but not a crime
Known as "Squish", June sings about how her husband ran into her knife, 10 times!
*Spoken* "Now, I'm standing in the kitchen carving up the chicken for dinner, minding my own business, and in storms my husband Wilbrin in a jealous rage."
If you'd have been there, if you'd have seen it
I betcha you would have done the same!
Known as "uh-uh", Hunyak sings about, in Hungarian, "How did I find myself here? They say my famous lover (neighbor?) held down my husband and I cut his head off. But it's not true. I am innocent. I don't know why Uncle Sam says I did it. I tried to explain at the police station but they didn't understand.", If you can't sing in Hungarian, I'll make an exception for an accent, and singing in English.
*Spoken* "How did I find myself here? They say my neighbor held down my husband as I cut his head off. But it's not true. I am innocent. I don't know why Uncle Sam says I did it. I tried to explain at the police station but they didn't understand."
"Uh-uh! Not. Guilty!"
If you'd have been there, if you'd have seen it
I betcha you would have done the same!
Known as "Lipschitz", Mona sings about killing her love, Lipschitz, for always finding someone else along his journey.
*Spoken* "I loved Alvin Lipschitz more than I could possibly say. He was a real artistic guy, sensitive, a painter. But he was always trying to “find himself”."
He had it coming, he had it coming
He only had himself to blame!*Spoken* "He'd go out every night looking for himself, and on the way, he found…Ruth, Gladys, Rosemary and Irving."
You will only have one line, so if you're okay with being the beginning voice for the song, go right ahead! Please leave your discord. :)
