Project Overview

This is a fan dub of the hit indie game, Celeste! We intend to bring together voice actors of any and all skill levels to bring this story to life. It's a for-fun project that will eventually make its way to YouTube, where anyone can watch. It is an unpaid project, since it's just for fun. A lot of the production team is new to this scene, so wer're excited to gain new experience through this!


Celeste is the story of a young woman, Madeline, who fights her demons, inside and out, in order to climb the daunting Mount Celeste. Along the way, she meets friends and enemies alike, who aid her in finding herself throughout the climb. The mysterious energy of the mountain will take her places and show her possibilities that she never expected, yet learns to welcome with courage.

  • THE CAST + MORE AUDITION OPPORTUNITIES IN SUPER PAPER MARIO!

    Thank you ALL SO MUCH for auditioning. Sometimes I cry a little bit seeing how many auditions we received. Seriously, I could have never imagined!   • FINAL WEEKEND BEFORE DEADLINE!!

  • ONE WEEK LEFT TO AUDITION FOR THE DUBS!!

    HELLO EVERYBODY! I just wanted to start by saying THANK YOU from the absolute bottom of my heart. Over 200 auditions for Super Paper Mario and over 50 for Celeste. Insane. I never thought I would have this many options, so thank you all SO much. And we still have ONE WEEK LEFT until the audition deadline. If you haven't submitted your audition(s), now would be the time. Tell your friends to come audition! Additionally, pretty please put your discord in the caption of your submission in case I need to contact you. Side note: for Super Paper Mario, the minor roles will be cast as we do each chapter, so if you don't get in the main cast, worry not! Young woman looking to climb Mount Celeste to conquer her inner demons and get the sense of accomplishment she desires. She is snarky and has a shorter temper, generally a bit emotional, which Badeline uses as a frequent scapegoat. She gets anxious quite easily and is susceptible to panic attacks. Her guilt complex is broken, where she believes she is always hurting people when she isn't doing so or is even doing the opposite. This is no thanks to Badeline's constant gaslighting and manipulation. Although she has some issues mentally, her perseverance is admirable to both those she meets, and eventually, herself.

She should sound young, but not terribly squeaky or nasally. Her voice can be a little bright if that's your interpretation. Although she is young, she is still an adult and should sound like so. Her voice isn't very assertive either. She's shy, so she should sound reserved, even when she's upset, she doesn't learn to use her voice (literally and figuratively) until much later in the game.

Here is a link to Madeline's "canonical voice". It can only be heard when you reverse the mirror temple track. Madeline’s malicious “part of her”. She is the physical incarnation of all of Madeline's fears, insecurities, and vices, created by the mountain's mysterious power, allowing her to emerge from Madeline's reflection. She’s the inner voice inside Madeline that she wishes would go away. Badeline is Madeline’s foil, always doubting her(self) and creating inner battle after inner battle. Eventually Madeline’s ally.

Badeline's voice isn't soft like Madeline's. She's far more assertive. Her more evil nature doesn't make her voice over the top. She's a very vocally and emotionally collected antagonist (except for Chapter 6, and a select few other minor outbursts). Her ability to stay calm vocally is what allows her to use the opposite against Madeline in the story, but we should still be able to hear the deviousness in her voice.

A kind, chill, yet energetic and ambitious adventurer Madeline meets along the way. Runs a blog he’s very passionate about, and always looks for an opportunity to take a selfie. Although he seems relatively content, he shares that he feels he'll never live up to his sister. He enjoys making conversations with Madeline that are beneficial to her adventurer. He also serves as a source of great comfort to Madeline. A chill climbing mate, and a valued friend.

Theo's voice is low to medium-low and very soothing and comforting. Even when in a frightening situation like in Chapters 4 and 5, he remains calm and his voice only ever expresses concern for others, rather than fear via yelling, etc.

  • - [Excited to meet someone, very friendly and jolly, but in a calm-ish way.] “Ho there, fellow traveler!” 

    - [His optimistic and creative stance on MADELINE's vague answers.] “Mysterious lone wolf type, I get it. I'll just imagine some dark backstory for you.”

 The timid, yet passionate owner ghost of the Celestial Mountain Resort. Desperate for more customers, he notices a passing Madeline who can help him tidy up and stay in the presidential suite. Although he may seem odd, in the end, he truly only cares about his precious Hotel. He is overwhelmed and nitpicky about everything. Madeline is always willing to help him, even when he tries to attack her after Badeline’s cruelty. Oshiro frequently speaks to himself. 

Oshiro's voice should be medium-low to medium-high, and a bit frail and timid, but in a desperate kind of way. He is a people pleaser through and through, and we should be able to hear that vocally. Additionally, once Badeline starts making cruel comments toward him, he begins to break, becoming more defensive and far less welcoming. After his "defeat", he should sound more vocally defeated, depressed, and overwhelmed. 

  • - [Eagerly and excited to see a "customer" in years.] “Welcome! May I help you?” 

    - [Excited to show the hotel, his entire purpose, to someone.] “Welcome to the world-renowned Celestial Resort Hotel!” 

    - [To himself, very happy and excited.] “(Two guests in one day! Business is finally picking up!)” 

    - [To himself, very nitpicky about every little detail and thing he does in regard to the hotel.] “Oshiro you idiot, the customer is always right! Business is finally picking up and you lose your temper!?”

    - [Finally over it with BADELINE's cruelty. Insulted and about to transform into his monster form.] “Pathetic!? You only came here to humiliate me... I won't grovel at your feet any longer!

    - [After MADELINE runs from him. He is very emotionally/physically defeated. Overwhelmed by the fact that everything has been undone.] “I’ve decided to close the hotel for repairs. The second-floor plumbing is leaking… the library is in complete disarray… not to mention the hole in the ceiling of the presidential suite.”

The stubborn old woman of Mount Celeste. Although she seems harsh towards Madeline, in the end, her advice is usually helpful in some way, or at least something to put Madeline to the test. She doubts Madeline at first but becomes a warmer friend further along. She's also a bit crazy.

Typical cynical old woman voice. Medium-low to medium in pitch. She is constantly either poking at Madeline or warning her, and we should hear both of these things, but not too drastically. 

  • - [A little insulting, but not in a harmful way, more observant and painfully honest. Laughs it off.] “I've never met someone so angry at themself. [laughs] Honestly, I thought you'd reach the summit just to spite yourself.”

    - [Giving wise advice to MADELINE in both a wise, sentimental and encouraging way.] “Sometimes it’s hard to tell the difference between stubbornness and determination, isn’t it? You remind me of myself when I was young.”

    - [Realizing MADELINE doesn't sound quite okay. She is concerned.] “Oh no, are you having another panic attack? Focus on your breathing honey, I'm here. What's going on?”
