Cave Story Fandub Project!
Project Overview
Unfortunately, due to a lack of overall interest, this project has been cancelled.
Thank you and apologies to everyone who auditioned - I heard some fantastic VA's that I had looked forward to working with!
Perhaps in the future we can try again.
Once cast, all VA's will submit their work to a Discord server.
You may reach me at adrianbakerva on Discord for any questions regarding audition submissions.
Prior knowledge of the game is not required, but research of it before submitting
is encouraged!
What is Cave Story?
Cave Story in a 2D indie action freeware game originally released late 2004 for the PC by Daisuke "Pixel" Amaya.
Since then, it has had numerous enhanced rereleases on platforms such as Wii Ware, 3DS, Steam, and Switch.
Requirements:
- VA's of 18 years or older only, please.
- XLR Microphones only. No USB.
- Discord is required for collaboration.
- General audio editing knowledge (Interfaces, software such as Audacity)
- VA's are welcome to make basic edits to their submissions once cast in regards to white noise removal and normalization, however, I will be responsible for all final edits.

Particularly vocal and upbeat. However, she does have moments of sadness and concern at times throughout the story.

The island, it was in a mess when we landed. Ravaged by the robots...They murdered scores of poor little Mimiga...It was horrible...
Leader of Mimiga Village.

He shares King's ideals, and always follows his orders.
Unlike King, his temper is usually in check.

Toroko's older brother, Arthur, fought a red ogre...This island's terrible ogre. The thing would eat Mimiga after Mimiga...This really has nothing to do with the Doctor, but...
When the Doctor's gang comes, we'll give them Sue in exchange for Toroko. I feel bad for Sue, but Toroko-she's one of us. We don't need someone like Sue who only thinks of herself and no one else.
Sue's brother, and one of the human scientists that landed on the island.
Has some comedic scenes early-on in the game. For the first several hours he is trapped in a large store house, seeking rescue through a PC.
When it comes to fight-or-flight, his choice is flight.
He wishes to flee the island, as apposed to staying and opposing The Doctor, risking more deaths.

The Doctor's victory was certain form the moment he acquired the Demon Crown. It's only a matter of time before his Mimiga army is ready to attack the surface...
If you're looking for the core then you need to really hurry it up.
A young girl and the sister of the late Mimiga hero Arthur.
Despite the fierce objections of King, she wishes to give Sue shelter in their village, despite the risk it poses to their village's safety.
Kind, but not afraid to fight back when push comes to shove.

The sister of Kazuma Sakamoto.
She was originally a human girl, but was transformed into a Mimiga by The Doctor.
Tomboy. Proud. Not afraid of a scrap, but over-estimates her own strength.

Primary antagonist.
Originally a medical expert.
His ulterior motive for coming to the island with the other scientists was to retrieve the ancient magical relic known as the "Demon Crown", and create a rabid Mimiga army to attack, and rule over the surface world with.
Endlessly selfish. Cruel. Confident. Arrogant.
Add a touch of manic in certain scenes later in the game. (Boss fights)

She is bound to serve whoever wears The Demon Crown.

Haughty, with a touch of cruelty. Somewhat of a brat.
Think a typical anime "tsundere" voice.
Has some good in her, nonetheless.

(Upon the player saying they had time to fulfill her request) That's a good answer. To be expected from a hero.

The true, final boss.
An ancient, powerful wizard.
Ages ago, he was tortured by a jealous king, and out of rage, lost control of his powers-destroying the kingdom, and his own family, in the process.
Eventually, he was exiled to the island by Jenka, his sister.
He was forced to create the Demon Crown by Misery. In retaliation, he cursed both her, and Balrog to serve whoever wears it.
Ballos longs for death, and asks Quote to kill him before doing battle.

She is the mother of Misery, and Ballos' brother.
Jenka guards the Sand Zone Warehouse, which contains the red flowers needed to turn the Mimiga into a ravenous army.
Jenka has a love of dogs. She owns 5 puppies.
