Casting Doctor Leonard McCoy For Short Star Trek Film (Credited On IMDb)
Project Overview
INTRODUCTION
Hello, everyone! This casting call is for a short Star Trek movie called "Star Trek: This Simple Feeling." The movie is set to premiere on the 5th of April to honor the upcoming first contact with the Vulcans (as all fans of Star Trek will know, the first contact will happen on the 5th of April 2063!). The movie belongs to the comedy genre but also contains drama elements. It's inspired both by the original Star Trek series as well as the renewed movie trilogy.
I'm casting the supporting part of Doctor Leonard McCoy. In case you're not familiar with the character, Doctor McCoy is the chief medical officer of the starship Enterprise. McCoy comes from Atlanta, Georgia. He was born in 2227 so by the time he served on Enterprise, he was in his late 30s. He was a bit younger in the new Abrams Star Trek universe. McCoy is an intelligent and resourceful person who's very loyal to his friends and would do the impossible for them. He tends to be a bit grumpy and complains a lot. He and Spock, the first officer of the Enterprise, have a friendly rivalry going on. But even when McCoy grumps and complains and calls Spock names, they respect each other.
The movie is in the English language, and so is the role. McCoy has a supporting part in the movie, but an important one since he closes the movie and solves the problem that Spock and Captain James T. Kirk have been previously dealing with. He also has the chance to showcase his sense of humor (and grumpiness).
The actor chosen for the role will be credited on IMDb. They will also be credited on social media with their photo, biography, contact information, and links of choice. And, of course, they will have a credit in the movie as well.
DEADLINES AND AUDITIONS
The deadline for auditions is April 2nd, 2022. There are currently no plans to extend this deadline, as the movie is set to premiere on the 5th of April. I'll notify the voice actor cast in the role on the 2nd and will need the voice lines sent by the 4th of April at the latest, ideally the 3rd. The communication will be happening via e-mail or Casting Call Club.
WHAT WE ASK OF YOU
- Since this is a fan project coming from people who love Star Trek, don't be shy to have fun when auditioning. :) It helps if you've seen the Star Trek shows or movies and are familiar with Doctor McCoy's demeanor. However, all fans of Star Trek or simply those who want to do a comedy movie are welcome to audition.
- Please submit clean recordings on mics. The mic doesn't have to be professional but I should be able to understand what you're saying.
- Feel free to include your best/favorite takes in the audition. Two are fine, one works as well if you're happy with the result.
- You can submit your recording as an MP3 or a .wav file.

Doctor Leonard McCoy is intelligent and resourceful. He often acts grumpy, especially when he's arguing with Spock, but he respects Spock and they are friends (even though neither of them is unlikely to admit it aloud). If you've seen Star Trek with Karl Urban as Doctor McCoy, you can imagine what he acts like. :)
