Brumm's Meme Troupe

Brumm's Meme Troupe

Project Overview

DEADLINE MOVED TO THE 30TH FOR ANYONE STILL WISHING TO AUDITION.

Are any of y'all into Hollow Knight? Ever wanted to voice your favorite Hollow Knight characters but always wondered where you could explore such a talent at? What do you mean you wanted to do it on a serious project or something bigger? Something ambitious and life-changing?? Nah, sorry, mate.

Not here.

You're going to absolutely waste your talents and skills by expressing them here, in Brumm's Meme Troupe! I'm a Hollow Knight youtuber who specializes in making passable quality Hollow Knight memes while making sure they're in the lowest resolution possible. I've realized throughout my time looking at funny little memes in this community, there's been lots of talk about how "low effort" a lot of Hollow Knight memes have been, especially in the r/HollowKnightMemes subreddit and since Feburary, I've been wanting to challenge that concept by giving this community that's inspired by a grim and gloomy bug game the stupidest and unnecessary memes that have ever spawned since Silksong's trailer release.

And for a while, I've been wanting to step things up and desired to get more experimental and expand my ideas and do more with how I curate my memes. And that? Is voice acting. Though, voice acting alone can last so long until it becomes tiring and having to realize you can't act out every character you wish to act out. I am also currently broke, so I can't rely on ElevenLabs (AI Voice Synthesizer) to do the job for me, so I am learning to accommodate.

I do not wish to do this alone, so having a group of random strangers pretending to be Hollow Knight characters saying the most mundane things in absurd scenarios would genuinely make my summer and my time with making these memes. There's no telling what we can create, and that alone is already joyful in itself!

So, what am I looking for?

Obviously, voice actors. Doesn't matter if your mic's a professional one or a poopy (but not too poopy) one, it's gonna be bit-crushed to low resolution, anyway. Just make sure your audio's still passable, though. But other than that, here are some things to consider in terms of auditioning;

--

  • Keep the background noises minimal since even the slightest one can cause a distraction in the video.
  • Make sure your voice is clear as well so we can hear everything you're saying. We don't want you to think you said something completely different when you didn't mean to, mate.
  • If you're trying to voice, let's say, Hornet, for example, I want you to talk like Hornet. Make it sound as if I'm actually hearing Hornet herself speak to me. Doesn't have to be perfect, but making it sound convincing will help a lot. I mean, imagine a serious-sounding voice in a silly lil' meme video. Let that be a tip.
  • Everything's all in good fun; Yeah, this is stupidly generic to say, but please, you're voicing a Hollow Knight character for a goofy meme related to a grim, post-apocalyptic bug game. This is the last "project" you'll have to worry about being serious about.
  • Despite what I have mentioned above about this not really being a serious project and that it doesn't matter whether your mic quality is good, I still implore you to put effort into your audition. Make me feel like I'm actually hearing Hornet asking Lace if she could borrow an illegal explosive or flippin Nailmaster Sheo going to ASDA so he can buy some Stella Artois for £11.00 to give to Nailmaster Oro.

----

General things to consider;

  • There are NO deadlines for the lines! Take as long as you need to get your lines in place, but don't take forever just to submit one line, however. If, unfortunately, you cannot work it out, then let me know as soon as possible. You're not obligated under a time frame to work on your lines.
  • For larger voiced projects or projects that will contain a lot of dialogue, a script will be in place. For smaller and to-the-point memes, they will be treated as improv, meaning there's no script and we go along with whatever we spout out and work and rearrange from there. Improv's great in honing your skills and learning how to act without relying on a script at hand, so hey it's... sort of a win? I don't know, I'm not a voice coach.
  • This project is 16+, as some topics I'll bring up in the memes I make may be suggestive, but not lewd. Just rather provocative. Not all of them are that, though, so don't worry. They only come when I'm feeling devious enough to do so, lol. It's also 16+ for acting reasons... if... that make sense? lol
  • There's no direct deadline for when the project closes, but I would like to see how many people will audition in a week or two. If you want it extended, just let me know in the project's comments or private DMs.
  • THIS IS UNPAID. You will not get quid. I am a broke man. This is for fun. Do not audition if you are looking for quid, or I will slap you. With a shoe.
  • This is my first Casting Call Club project in over 2 1/2 years, so apologies if the description seems everywhere or disorganized.

Here are a bunch of goofy examples of some of the voiced memes I've done, with one I've done with someone else.

Since there are no specifics on what characters I need (the characters I choose for my meme videos are entirely random lol), you're free to go all out with what character you can imitate

Please announce what character you're imitating. It's obvious, but letting y'all know regardless.

Also, if it's possible for the character you're imitating, I'd like to see your attempt toward giving them either a British or Australian accent. Why such an accent? Well, Team Cherry's from Australia, so it's OBLIGATED. HAH!

Then why British?

Listen, if I thought Nailmaster Sheo with a British accent felt nice to imagine, then why not imagine that for other characters, huh? Where's my man Pale King with his Londoner Accent??

And please, don't be generic with the accents.

Language:
  • english
Voice description:
  • british
  • australian
  • Go all out. Say some random lines of them talking about something absurd. Improv things out.
