Being the seventh school mystery and the leader of the Seven Mysteries, Hanako maintains the balance in the relationship between humans and supernaturals of the school, and is often seen helping others around and protecting the school.

Hanako is cheerful, outgoing, and likes having fun. As a ghost, he is rather mischievous, then he enjoys teasing others and can be very playful and pranky. Despite his youthful persona, Yako and Tsuchigomori respect him and follow his orders as fellow school mysteries. He can become very serious at times, but at other times he appears very flippant. Hanako is also a bit sadistic at times, as shown when he happily threatened to turn Yako into fox udon (he often threatens others with his kitchen knife). Yashiro Nene describes him as someone who is difficult to understand.

Hanako's personality is similar to that of when he was human, except for the fact that he was very passionate and knowledgeable about astronomy and dreamed of being an astronaut. However, he no longer talks about the subject. Furthermore, when he was alive at least in the school, he seemed more closed and shy. He doesn't like talking about or being reminded of his past due to the negative associations.

Nene is a very outgoing and earnest girl who seems to greatly desire the approval of her peers. She is generally kind to others, sometimes to the point of naiveté. She genuinely wants to help those around her, and is even willing to risk the dangers of associating with Supernaturals in order to do so. Because she is often reliant on Hanako to protect her from dangerous Supernaturals and developed a habit of calling his name when she is in need of help, Nene wants to find a way to protect Hanako and her other friends.

However, Nene is also rather insecure, particularly about her ankles and whether or not people actually like her. In addition, she is a hopeless romantic who easily falls for charming looks, which have led her to many poor experiences with men. Nene intensely desires for a boyfriend, even going through desperate measures such as attempting to call Hanako to grant her wish and recklessly using a matchmaking supernatural item she isn't familiar with. Due to her past crush expressing interest in girls with "feminine" traits, Nene worked to become adept at cooking, sewing, and gardening as an attempt to impress him. She worries that she is not lady-like enough to ever find a boyfriend and is afraid of heartbreak.

Kou is cheerful, direct and tends to jump into things headfirst without properly thinking them through.

He is often misjudged as a bit of a delinquent or rude, but this is actually not the case. He is rash and loud but is also simultaneously very kind and caring. He makes a distinct effort to be polite, as seen when even though he was about to face off with Hanako upon their first meeting, he still took the time to be polite to Nene and warn her about the perceived danger.

Kou has a strong sense of justice, and was also kind and open-minded enough to revise his opinion on Hanako and become friends with him, despite the pressure from his older brother to exorcise the ghost and the brothers' long-held belief that all supernaturals are bad.

He is very loyal to his friends and helps them in any way he can, no matter the danger. He is also easily flustered and sometimes makes mistakes due to rushing into things too quickly.

Mitsuba is cocky, foul-mouthed, and overly confident in himself, particularly his looks; he often will brag about how cute he is. He also has a tendency to call people by rude nicknames and isn't afraid to insult others. He knows how to get on people's good sides and sometimes acts nice to someone if he needs to get on their good side. He has also been shown to be quick to cry, especially in threatening situations.

Due to his personality making him a target of bullying in elementary school, he created another, gentler personality in middle school to get along with others better. During this time, Mitsuba was nice, considerate, and friendly with everyone.

Despite being rude and loud, Mitsuba also has a more mellow side to him. He gets noticeably dispirited when talking about his past, gets lonely easily, though he seems to have a hard time being honest (choosing to hurl harsh words instead), at times he is able to genuinely express happiness and kindness.

Aoi is a sweet and cheerful person who is very close with her best friend, Nene. Although she claims to dislike scary stories, she continues to delve into them for the sake of cheering Nene up, since she knows that Nene enjoys them. Considering her zealous presentation and continued involvement with the tales, she may actually have some interest in them herself. She is shown to adore romance, as evidenced by her enthusiastic support of Nene's romantic endeavors and enjoyment of discussing crushes. Despite her continued rejections of his advances, she was also rather jealous and upset when her childhood friend, Akane, seemingly began to date someone else.

Aoi is also shown to be good with words and is able to get people to do what she wants just by using a little bit of pressure. She is especially harsh towards Akane, denying every single one of her love confessions all while smiling cheerfully.

Aoi's true personality reveals her to be a person who looks down on others, as stated by Akane. Despite this, Aoi doesn't have a high opinion of herself either, and puts up a constant mask of perfection in an effort to be liked. This backfires as she comes to believe that others will only be disappointed when they learn of her flaws, causing her to become bitter and resentful towards all her classmates, and forcing her to suppress all her negative emotions and traits in fear of being ostracized.

Aoi believes that Akane's feelings are directed towards her fake self and that the "real" her is not good enough for his love. Aoi feels as if she has no one to trust or rely on as all her loved ones deceive her, and no one understands nor cares for who she truly is. Ultimately, Aoi is a deeply lonely and unhappy person.

Akane is a reliable and hardworking student with a professional attitude. He is noted to excel in sports and studies and is currently the Vice President of the Student Council.

Akane bears deep hatred towards Supernaturals, believing that they do not know the inherent value of human life. He told Teru that he wished to continue the normal life he has led until now, despite having become one of the Clock Keepers.

Akane has a huge crush on Aoi, often letting his affection towards her overwhelm his sense of reason. What with them being childhood friends, Akane is extremely protective of her and would do anything to preserve her safety and well-being. He also doesn't appear to have any interest in anything or anyone other than her, and thus often acts cynical and sarcastic towards mostly anyone who isn't Aoi.

Calm, collected, and reliable, he's well-liked by his peers. He is also very perceptive, as he is able to easily recognize Supernatural happenings and identify them.

He is described by Nene as handsome, smart, and an amazing person who is kind to everyone; the prince of the school. Teru himself, however, does not seem to be conceited over this reputation. Nene also compares him to television stars or idols, as just seeing him is enough to make people happy. His kindhearted personality attracts not only girls his age, but also boys. He is especially kind towards his siblings, his brother Kou and his sister Tiara, as he almost always does whatever they ask of him.

Despite his seemingly kind personality, he also can be sadistic and harsh sometimes. He's especially strict with Akane, the vice student council president; Teru isn't afraid to punish him whenever he makes mistakes.

Teru seems to think that all Supernaturals are evil beings and should be exorcised. He only has a few exceptions, such as Mokkes, as he seems to neither particularly hate or like them — he tolerates their presence because Tiara likes them.

As a ghost, Tsukasa appears to be cheerful and extremely childish. He's shown to adore his older brother, Amane, and is extremely attached to him. Due to this childish demeanor, he is often treated like a little kid by Sakura, his assistant, whom he is bound to by contract. Conversely, he is capable of carrying out extreme acts of violence with no remorse. This is shown when he gleefully cuts into a pufferfish just to see what they look like on the inside, despite being warned against doing so.

Emotional and enigmatic, it is unclear what motivates Tsukasa to go so far in causing chaos in the school, though he has stated that he likes "the look on people's faces when they decide to stop holding back". He's shown to believe that the rules and order between supernaturals and humans isn't needed, and thinks that supernaturals should act however they want.

When he was younger, Tsukasa retained virtually the same personality. He was cheerful and frequently looked for items to cheer his sick brother, Amane, up. However, he is distraught when he hears his brother has not much time to live and sacrifices himself for Amane's welfare, disappearing after this. After his disappearance, and return; their mother momentarily noticed something was off with him, before consulting with the shrine priests.

Sakura seems to be an aloof person, and as such does not show much emotion. She rarely changes expressions from her usual deadpan appearance, although she does break this trend in order to smile during her first meeting with Nene and when she becomes annoyed with Natsuhiko and Tsukasa. For the most part she seems to deal with her involvement in the supernatural by simply detaching her emotions from it, for example thinking of Tsukasa as little more than a cat. She finds many of Tsukasa's actions distasteful, but has to listen to them regardless.

She enjoys Yashiro Nene's company and treats her with hospitality and kindness, but is also willing to double cross her at Tsukasa's behest, indicating she may not be terribly honest. While she may legitimately desire Nene's friendship, she also seems to keep herself distant in order to carry out Tsukasa's requests.

Natsuhiko is a seemingly shallow individual, although he is not unfriendly. His motives are rather dubious, and it appears that he works with Tsukasa and Sakura simply because he has a crush on Sakura. He was willing to trick Nene and put her in potential danger but doesn't seem to have any ill will towards her.

He seems to have a flirty side, and is rather reckless and perhaps not too bright, as seen during his attempt to escape with Nene back to the regular world. Despite having been partially responsible for bringing Nene into the situation, he also tried to help her escape and opened each door so that she wouldn't put herself in danger. When he was unable to continue himself, he encouraged her to continue.

He is loyal, or perhaps obsessive, to a fault, since he continues to have a crush on and pursue Sakura ⁠— despite her outwardly cold demeanor — and becomes excited by her minimal attention, even if it's negative. Natsuhiko holds no grudges when treated poorly and is willing to get into trouble to save his friends. This can be seen when he risked a confrontation with Teru to get Mitsuba out of danger.

Yako is a prideful supernatural who thinks little of humans other than her beloved deceased Misaki. She was willing to do anything to bring him back. She has little understanding of humans and their anatomy. As a result, she employed the help of the students to rebuild Misaki's body and had no qualms with removing them if she deemed the bodies they created inadequate.

Later, she admits while her rumor was altered by Tsukasa, she retained full control of her actions. She describes it as a side of her that she often kept bottled up, but was then dragged out by force.

She prefers to be treated with respect, asking others to call her by her name instead of calling her "Kitsune". In moments of vulnerability, she lashes out by biting others or verbally berating them. However, she still has a bit of a soft side, as seen when she comforted Kou after hearing about the incident with his friend, and even allows him to call her "Nee-san".

While Tsuchigomori seems like a normal, caring and somewhat meek teacher in his human disguise, he is actually sarcastic, mischievous and quite short-tempered. He's also shown to be quite sadistic, having fun with threatening and scaring Nene and Kou ― although he quickly stops after a light warning from Hanako . Additionally, he seems to dislike people prying into his private life, such as threatening Nene when she suggests that he is attracted to men in chapter 13.

Although he is a teacher, he is shown to dislike children because of their noisy attitudes. Tsuchigomori also has an odd sense of humor and likes to joke around, such as saying that he likes to eat human children, only to be met with terrified looks in response.

Despite him claiming that he only pretends to care about his students, he has been shown to actually genuinely care about them on various occasions.

Shijima at first glance appears to be childish and cheerful, always smiling. She is also empathetic, offering to comfort Nene during her capture. At the same time, she is also sarcastic and cruel, having no problems with suggesting murder or threatening to hurt someone.

She appears to have an interest in art, with her introduction showing her painting. She is also prone to destroying her own artwork in fits of frustration, as a result, the fabricated characters commonly crumble and disappear.

With the reveal of the true Shijima Mei, the School Mystery Number 4 is simply an idealized and healthy version of her. Because of that, these two share similar personality quirks, such as being fascinated by Nene's ankles upon meeting her.

The real Mei is determined and optimistic, stating that she has "no intentions of dying" even when deathly ill.

Shijima is protective and loyal towards the real Mei, having been created by her likeness' hope to live until tomorrow. As a result, she is devastated by her rumor and her inability to change her original's fate. Shijima believes there is no point in fiction and feels little care towards her role as the School Mystery Number 4.

Nene notes that Sumire's personality shows a great resemblance to Aoi, in which both demeanors are cheerful, helpful, and lighthearted in their interactions. However, she also has a manipulative, almost sadistic side. This is shown in Chapter 89 when Sumire takes care of wounded animals, and explains that she enjoys looking after them because she has absolute control over them. Sumire has a strong infatuation with keeping Nene and Hanako as her newfound pets, stating they reminded her of 'lost raccoons'. Because of this, she established precautions such as creating an electrifying barrier around her home to prevent escapes and putting Nene in doing housework.

In their first meeting, Sumire held a cold demeanor when it came to meeting the mountain villagers that invaded her garden. She also has an authoritative position, shown by how all of the villagers bowed to her presence. To Hanako, her identity remains suspicious as he deduces that she must be following No. 6's orders. Her memories featured her being the kannagi for sacrifice in the past, and she intended to substitute Nene as the sacrifice in hopes of getting a response from No. 6.

According to the meeting with the other existing School Mysteries, Kako states that No.6 may take extreme measures, when they were configuring a solution to deal with the feral supernaturals seeking a seat as School Wonder.

He holds a great sense of duty while disregarding others' opinions, evidently shown as he kidnaps Aoi but promptly apologizes after disappearing. He is seen to have polite mannerisms but occasionally makes blunt statements, such as claiming wanting to eat Nene and Akane.

After kidnapping Aoi and taking her to his Boundary, he attempts to make amends under a gentle facade, but failed to do so when the flower wilted in his hold.

From Chapter 67, he shares a history with Sumire, stating that he was her caretaker due to his master's orders. He rarely shows many emotions aside from seriousness, stunned, or remorse, especially when Sumire noticed his look of indifference when they were preparing her for the sacrifice. When Sumire was awakened as his supposed yorishiro to repeat the events of her wedding ritual, she said that No. 6 has never visited her once.

He is often seen playing with his phone and not caring too much about his surroundings. He takes pictures of interesting things with his phone.

He does not lose interest in his phone even when ridiculous things happen such as the academy's time jumping forward and students suddenly growing old.

Unlike his best friend, Yokoo, Satou appears to be more stern and serious, especially when compared to the other boy.

Satou has been confirmed to enjoy baking, such as in Chapter 59 when he shows up to class with a bag of cookies, saying, "I got on a roll and couldn't stop."

When talking, he often references different types of pastries.

Unlike his friend, Satou, Yokoo appears to have a cheerful and relaxed predisposition, usually shown smiling. He is often energetic and upbeat.

Yokoo has been confirmed to enjoy sports, introduced in the manga as "Kou's friend who likes sports", along with being shown running and playing soccer.

Tiara is shown to be a cheerful girl both in bonus illustrations and spin-off manga. She doesn't seem scared of Supernaturals - calling the Mokkes cute, and not even hesitating to rescue a Mokke from a huge, insect-like monster.

Although she's depicted as sweet most of the time, she isn't a pushover. In a spin-off chapter, two boys are shown trying to bully Tiara. Teru and Kou are afraid that Tiara will become scared and cry, but she shoves the boys and stands her ground with a sassy comment.

Mirai is mischievous, cheerful, and energetic. She enjoys turning time forward with her powers and appears to consider the elderly and wrinkled people cool. Mirai speaks in a somewhat childlike manner, referring to herself in third person.

According to Akane, Mirai's main trait is being dimwitted. She is also a glutton, likes grooming herself, and is very nimble. Akane likens her intelligence and speed to that of a mouse, which seems to be true since she is able to be caught using a strategy that Nene has also used on her own pet hamster.

However, Mirai does have a serious side as well, which is seen when she is unable to turn Nene's time forward and immediately realizes the implications of this.

Seemingly spreading rumors across Kamome Academy, this student known as the 'rumor girl' kicks off our manga by informing us of the rumor of 'Hanako-San.'

Mermaid is a high-ranking supernatural in the Toilet Bound Hanako-Kun series. She is able to manifest in Kamome Academy while living underwater with other fish, although it is unclear whether that place is bound to the school or not.

The father of Amane and Tsukasa.

Not much can be detailed about the man, but by the looks of it - we can assume he very much cared for his entire family deeply, and loved them each unconditionally.

She was the mother of Amane and Tsukasa. When her eldest son was suffering from circulation failure, she was devoted to nursing him back to health despite the low chances of him surviving.

Both she and her husband served as caring parents who offered presents and took pictures for their sons' birthday. Although she scolded them once or twice, she was devoted to checking their health and sharing family memories with them. In Tsukasa's flashback, it was evident she cared about both the twins dearly.

She was the mother of Mitsuba Sousuke. After her husband and son passed away, she was left to tend to her son's grave and shrine. Her name is currently unknown.

She is a frail yet gentle woman, as indicated when she easily fell over after carrying bags of groceries and flowers for Mitsuba's grave. After receiving help from Nene and Kou, she generously offered to let them visit Mitsuba's house to learn more about him.

Despite her son's nitpicking and cocky nature, she is still a loving and doting mother that supported his hobby of photography, as well as having a keen interest in what he was like in school. Though emotional when it came to reminiscing on him, she quickly places on a positive and cheerful attitude, but she can become solemn at times.

She was the mother of Teru, Kou, and Tiara. However, after Tiara was born, her health began declining before passing away when Kou was 9 years old. She made her debut as one of Kou's wishes in the Red House, but she was merely a figment of imagination.

According to Kou's memories of her, she was a loving, gentle mother. She'd often took care of the food and making sure to watch after her children, seeing how she mentioned the snacks in the fridge and asking Kou if he was well or not. Although her health had declined, with Kou's and Tiara's memory featuring her lying on a futon, it is implied that she had the greatest influence over Kou. Currently assuming the house chores and taking care of the meals, her son became the next successor in handling her former role.

Katakuri is a supernatural who first appeared in Chapter 80 after rescuing Nene from the deceased Kannagi people.

Katakuri seems to be very calm and kind, as shown when he helps Nene when she was attacked by the cursed kannagi spirits, and after bring her to the exit of the mysterious abyss cavern, without ask or wait for anything in exchange. When he was alive he was shown as a very curious and adventurous person that wanted to travel the world to meet and see the most beautiful and different places around the world.

Nagisa Kunishige is the priest at the shrine that the Minamoto family works for.

Not much detail can be said about him as of now, but we know this man is highly intelligent.
