to those of you who aren't familiar with the avatar franchise, there are 6 trilogy comics that follow the events of team avatar after the end of book/season 3. the comic books are really good and dive really deep into character building.
as a huge avatar the last Airbender fan, I read all of the comic books and decided to open this fandub project.
the idea is to dub over the pictures of the comics as the different characters appearing on them. we will probably only do the first trilogy, called the promise, but if the project goes well we might even continue to the other comic books.
feel free to join the discord server before or after auditioning. in it, you'll get to practice different characters and meet other people who auditioned.
here are a few rules and regulations to keep in mind when auditioning:
1. This is not a paid project, we will be doing it for fun.
2. A professional microphone is not required, however, I expect no background noises and good quality recordings.
3. I am not specifically looking for a certain accent for every character, so it is not required! Feel free to audition with any other accent. However, it might not fit the character.
4. You must have a mail account, I'd like to get the recordings through the mail once we start the project. it's also necessary to have discord. if you don't it's best you open an account. Make sure to state your mail and discord account when auditioning!
for those of you who don't fully know the plot of the first comics trilogy aka "the promise", here's a summary. beware, this contains a few spoilers which I tried to limit, if you want links to where you can read the comic books online feel free to message me in privet:
after the 100 years war has come to an end Zuko, just promoted new Firelord, is afraid he'll become just like his father. desperately he asks avatar Aang to promise him that if zuko ever became like his father(Firelord Ozai) Anng would end Zuko's life. during the following year, the new Firelord(Zuko), the earth king, the avatar, and a couple more friends and allies come together for the harmony restoration movement. the purpose of this movement is to move all the fire nation's colonies in the earth kingdom back to their home territory. after a year they get to the colony named yu-dao where some residents refuse to leave. Zuko goes there himself to escort the people back to the fire nation but soon changes his mind and goes against the original harmony restoration movement plan. as everyone thinks Zuko has gone nuts, his fellow team avatar mates come to yu-dao to try and understand what had happened. Aang is afraid throughout the whole comic that he might have to fulfill his promise and kill his best friend Zuko. in this comic Aang gets to question many of his beliefs, and even goes against his past lives' advice. and Zuko gets to being uncertain if he's doing the right thing, and what the right thing is at all. we even see a few conversations between Zuko and his father, and a few mentions of Zuko's mother.
the comic contains so much amazing humor which is very typical to the franchise.

the sister of Firelord Zuko. she is super talented and powerful, And her firebending is blue. while Aang fought off Firelord Ozai, Azula took on Katara and Zuko. however, due to all the pressure she was under, she began hallucinating her long-gone mother in every reflection. by now, Azula's madness has gotten much worse and she is locked up in an institution.
don't be silly zu-zu! the satisfaction of serving the fire lord in some small way will be compensation enough!

Mayor Morishita is the mayor of Yu Dao, the first of the fire nation colonies. he is the father of Kori.

Zuko is the former prince of the fire nation. he has a younger sister(Azula) who is super talented when it comes to FireBending. his mother disappeared from his life when he was quite young and Zuko doesn't know what had happened to her. his father always favored Azula. after Zuko spoke out of place in a certain meeting once, his father(Ozai) challenged Zuko to an Agni-kai, a FireBending duel. when Zuko refused to fight his father he received a permanent scar on his face and was banished from the fire nation. for years his only goal was to capture the avatar so he could regain his honor until, at last, he joined the avatar and defeated his father. Zuko is now the new Firelord.
After all the pain my father has caused, it's my duty to bring healing to the world. I'll remove those colonies. I'll do whatever it takes

Aang is the main antagonist of avatar the last Airbender series. he is the only person in his timeline who is able to control all four elements. Aang was frozen in an iceberg for 100 years which is why he is actually 112 years old, yet 12 years old mentally and physically. he is very environmental, fun and cheerful. as the avatar, he mastered all four elements and fought the villain Firelord ozai. however, he decided not to kill ozai, but instead take away his bending abilities. Aang is currently dating katara.
zuko, you're not your dad, and you're my friend! how can you expect me...
things are different in the fire nation now, you'll see. Firelord zuko's reintroducing classic fire nation culture to his people. you'll learn so much about your past by living here. and you'll have so much fun too!

Katara is the sister of Sokka. she is very mother-ish towards her friends. she is originally from the southern water tribe but after she and Sokka found Aang, they soon started traveling around the world with Aang and met many more friends and allies. after they won the war, katara begins dating Aang and they are still together up till today.
long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. then everything changed when the fire nation attacked. only the avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them. but when the world needed him most, he vanished.

Sokka is the brother of Katara. he is a non-bender but has some really great boomerang and sword skills. he, along with his sister found Aang in the iceberg he was stuck in and helped defeat the Firelord. despite what he usually shows to others, he is quite smart and strategic. he is super funny and humorous!
first of all, you're supposed to knock before you go inside, not before you go outside! And second, As my sister, you really shouldn't be kissing anyone in front of me! It's your sisterly duty to avoid giving me the oogies!

Toph comes from a super-rich earth kingdom family. She was born blind which is why people in her life, especially her parents, considered her fragile and unable to care for herself. however, toph never had a problem seeing as she uses her earthbending to sense movements through her feet. at a certain point in her life, she runs away from home and joins team avatar as Aang's earthbending teacher. during a time she was kidnapped, she founded meta bending. as the first and currently only metalbender, toph started her own metalbending academy.

Kori is the daughter of the mayor of yu-dao, the first colony of the fire nation in the earth kingdom. her mother, however, is an earthbender and so is kori. she is strongly against the harmony restoration movement as it would separate her family and force her to leave her home. kori is also dating sneers, the freedom fighter, which tends to surprise everyone.
for her voice, I'm looking for something a lot let specific as she only appears in the comics and doesn't have an existing voice. so feel free to go by what you simply think fits the character.

Earth king Kuei never knew about the war as his advisor, who was also the leader of the dai-li, hid the truth from him in order to control him. team avatar revealed the terrible truth to the king and gained his help. he's very naive and innocent in ways, and also has a pet bear aka Bosco.
yes. for the earth people, they are a constant reminder of the war, like an old scar.

Ozai is the father of Zuko and Azula, and the (sort of) ex-husband of Ursa. he was the vicious Firelord during a certain part of the 100 years war. he also scarred and banished his very own son. Avatar Aang decided not to kill Ozai but to take away his ability to bend. Ozai is now in a prison cell not far from the fire nation palace.
I should count myself lucky. the new Firelord has graced me with his presence in my lowly prison cell.

Suki is one of the Kyoshi warriors, a group of female warriors based on the legendary avatar Kyoshi. Suki first met the team when she thought they were from the fire nation while they visited Kyoshi island. Suki quickly bonded with Sokka and the two are currently dating. Later in the comic, the Kyoshi warriors move to the fire nation palace to protect Firelord Zuko.
