Archie Sonic Comics Dub - Casting for Numerous Sonic Characters
Project Overview
On behalf of the showrunner, NAZE:
Hello, I will be dubbing all of the Archie sonic comics and I need to cast the following characters: Uncle Chuck, Shadow the Hedgehog, Scourge the Hedgehog, E-123 Omega, Vector the Crocodile, Espio the Chameleon, Mighty the Armadillo, Ray the Flying Squirrel, Charmy Bee, Nicole the Holo-Lynx, and Geoffery St. John. I'm looking for impressions that I believe best capture the characters, so whether you're basing your voices off the games, the cartoons, or putting your own spin on it, give it the best you got.

Uncle Chuck is Sonic's dear uncle from the mainline run of the comics and from Sonic SatAM. In the comics, for a great portion of time, he is roboticized and sometimes speak robotically as if he part of Robotnik's minions, and oftentimes speaks like a normal Mobian. His voice should match that of his SatAM incarnation, though similar interpretations would be fine for this role

[talking to Sonic, who seems a little freaked out by his arrival, speaks caringly] "Don't be afraid, Sonic! I know what I look like on the outside, but inside, I'm Uncle Chuck again!... And I have something very important to tell you!"
"This is no time to be eating, Sonic! Robotnik is trapped in a void -- Another dimension of reality -- and Snively has taken his place!"
"There's still a chance! Snively doesn't know I'm not like his other "units"... that makes me the perfect SPY!"
[robotically] "As you command, master!"
[robotically] "In the name of my Master, General Robotnik, I order you to deactivate your explosives!"
Scourge the Hedgehog was once known as Anti-Sonic, or Evil Sonic, and occasionally appeared in a few issues of the classic run to square off against his heroic counterpart. However, when Scourge attempted to steal the Master Emerald along with Rouge, he used the Chaos energy of the emerald to intentionally become stronger than Sonic. But after Locke punched him while in the middle of absorbing its energy, Scourge transformed into a green-hued individual that could finally be distinguished from Sonic.
Scourge is still Anti-Sonic at heart, still possessing Sonic's traits and abilities, while also being a conniving jerk and ill-tempered. Scourge does not have friends, and views his Suppression Squad as nothing more than pawns to help him prove he's the best. Additionally, Scourge doesn't see fighting as a sport, but rather something to prove that he is the greatest and an excuse to deliver excruciating pain, and, if given the chance, kill them. However, his arrogance gets the better of him, which also makes him even more demented and psychotic.
With Scourge's voice, his voice is only slightly similar to Sonic's, but a lot more sinister, a lot more arrogant, and a lot more demented. He tends to have a very loud attitude whenever he is pissed off, and is very crass and rude to everyone he talks to. If he feels he is being betrayed, he will not hesitate to retaliate.
[smiles sinisterly] "Not quite babe. But a real Scourge all the same."
"All hail the King, Baby!"
"Now hold on just a stinkin' minute here!"
[smirks] "We're not just your 'evil twins' anymore. I am Scourge, King of a bold, new Moebius, and now your world is gonna fall to my Suppression Squad!"
[royally pissed off] "@#$% TRAITORS! I took down a whole planet! A WHOLE PLANET! And you morons think you can take me? ME? Sonic can't take me! And you still try to take me out?! You could have served the baddest king ever! Now you're just gonna get served!"
Shadow the Hedgehog is the end result of Project Shadow; he was meant to be the Ultimate Lifeform. Gifted with extraordinary power and plagued with disturbing trauma, Shadow the Hedgehog went from a scientific experiment to his very own person. Once a creation of professor Gerald Robotnik, to a tool of destruction at the hands of his creator's grandson, to becoming a powerful ally to Sonic the Hedgehog. Soon, he joined the United Federation, serving the true purpose of why he was created.
Shadow is arrogant, determined, and somewhat cold. He often speaks bluntly and doesn't sugarcoat anything. He often comes off as uncaring and does not take kindly to outside interference, believing he is capable of handling situations on his own. Unlike Sonic, Shadow will go one step further than defeating an opponent; he'll try to kill them. Shadow believes that the ends justify the means.
Shadow's voice can be impressions from the games or cartoons. If you've got a David Humphrey, Jason Griffith, or Kirk Thornton Shadow voice you'd like to audition with, please go for it. You are more than welcome to put your own spin on the voice. We are looking for the voice that we believe best captures Shadow in these comics.

(Shadow's fight with Metal Sonic from issue 196 brings him to the Sonic X Universe. Here, he has a conversation with X Sonic)
"You have a very peaceful world, Sonic. But I was created to protect my own world. I cannot rest or enjoy any peace until I know my duty has been fulfilled."
E-123 Omega is a robot created by Dr. Eggman and is the final unit of the Doctor's E-100 series. Omega was released from storage and was tasked to destroy the rogue robot, E-102 Gamma. Although successful, Gamma managed to reprogram Omega to grant him free will before being eliminated. Following this, and a conversation with Shadow the Hedgehog, Omega decided to follow in Gamma's footsteps and fight the Eggman Empire as an agent of the United Federation's defense forces, the Guardian Units of the Nation, where he later became a member of Team Dark.
Like many of Eggman's robots, Omega was very limited in personality, but thanks to Gamma reprogramming him, he has free will and has gained a personality of his own. Back when he was subservient to the Doctor, he followed orders but had a large ego and a keen sense of sarcasm. Now free to act as he pleases, his sarcasm developed into a dry sense of humor. Omega is also very blunt and non-descript, often calling things as he sees them, rather than calling things or people by their names. Omega carries a sense of pride about him and loves to destroy things, but he will not let such things get in the way of the goal of whatever mission he is tasked with. His main goal throughout the comics is to take down Eggman and his Empire.
With this voice, we highly request you do takes with a robot filter similar to how they filter Omega's voice in the games.
"Shadow the Hedgehog?! Even stronger than Sonic! A true test for my might!"
"Oh, I have located the decrepit mission objective. Wonderful."
"Crush, maim, destroy."

"As my code integrates, 'Gamma' may disappear-- but my mission lives on. So... now what? My purpose was to crush all life. Now the thought makes me uneasy... now I have 'thoughts' and can be 'uneasy.'"

Vector the Crocodile is a Mobian crocodile, one of Knuckles the Echidna's oldest friends and the de-facto leader of the Chaotix. Having lived on Angel Island and making his acquaintance with Knuckles after what he thought was the death of his father Locke, Vector was the first Mobian to join Knuckles as an ally in combat. When the likes of Espio the Chameleon, Mighty the Armadillo, and Charmy Bee offered their assistance, together they formed the Chaotix. He has since remained a stalwart ally of Knuckles and, later, the Freedom Fighters, leading the Chaotix into battle against some of Mobius's greatest threats. And now he is part of the war against Dr. Eggman.
[greeting Knuckles] "Knuckles! What's up my man?"
[when being scolded by Knuckles] "So I zigged when I should've zagged! I usually don't travel the hot spots of the floating island!"
[in a battle against Mecha Sonic] "Big -- BIG mistake! Think you've got me by the end of my tether? Well... THINK AGAIN!"
[interrogating Rouge] "All right then, lady. Let's take it from the top."
"Maybe you'd like a security lamp for your own cell?"
"According to Sonic and Tails, you popped out of a Warp Ring right outside Freedom HQ."
"Innocent, she says. As soon as you showed up, someone stepped forward to give us some dirt on you."
Espio the Chameleon is a Mobian chameleon who resides in Rainbow Valley on Angel Island, a member of the Dragon Kingdom's Shinobi Clan, and one of the original members of the Chaotix. His ability to camouflage makes him a formidable opponent. While he tends to prefer taking on missions by himself, Espio also works well as a team player in the Chaotix. For a period of time, when the Shinobi Clan surrendered to the Bride of Four Houses, Espio was forced to leave the Chaotix to serve under the Bride. However, the Clan later broke ties with the Iron Dominion, and Espio was able to rejoin his friends on Angel Island.
Espio is a pretty quiet and laid-back person. He can sometimes be quite cynical, other times he can be quite positive. Oftentimes, he is stern and serious with his outlook on life, and when tasked with a mission, all he thinks about is the mission. While given to emotion in intense situations, he is relatively more stoic and reserved than others, while still holding a soft spot for those close to him.
Espio has a low-range voice, and often speaks softly but bluntly. If you'd like to audition with the voices of Espio from the video games, go for it, but we are more than welcome to have you put your own spin on the character's voice.
[the early days of Espio]
(when fighting Mecha Sonic) [fiercely] "Hey, blue boy... Why don't you pick on someone your own size." [smirks] "Of course, that could prove problematic... when your enemy... can hide in plain sight!"
[determined] "Guess I'll scope things out for myself then!"
[in the later issues of the comics]
[yelling] "Stay back! We're pinned down!"
"Most of us could squeeze through just as they did. But we would be easy to single out and divide."
"Given the chatter I heard about Eggman, I also believe the hole was meant for Sonic to Spin Dash through quickly and deliver him to the Doctor."
Charmy Bee is a Mobian bee and the youngest member of the Chaotix, and easily the most hyperactive of them as well. He is the prince of the destroyed Goldenhive Colony, and left his home seeking adventure and ended up taking residence on Angel Island. He returned home after the loss of a close friend. He subsequently rejoined the Chaotix with his girlfriend, Saffron, after Eggman invaded and destroyed their home, and continued to fight alongside the Freedom Fighters.
Charmy is generally friendly and fun-loving, but could be serious when he needed to be, and possesses a true sense of duty and responsibility. His demeanor became more serious when his Colony got destroyed and demonstrated serious defiance in the face of being captured by Eggman. However, when his memory got erased by the Egg Grapes, he became much more laid back and scatterbrained, reverting to a more childlike state of mind. In many, many cases, he is extremely hyperactive. He still has a strong commitment to his friends and heavily opposes evil.
Charmy's voice is that of a little kid - in the high vocal range. If you'd like to base your audition off of Charmy in the video games, that would be great, but as always, you are more than welcome to put your spin on the character.
[in the early issues]
(eagerly) "Heads up, Mighty! TAG! You're it!"
(playfully) "Since when did the rules say you need to warn somebody?"
"You have to admit, things have really gotten crazy around here lately, Mighty!"
[in the later issues of the comics]
(CONTEXT: Charmy and Saffron lost everything from Eggman's massacre of the Goldenhive Colony)
[grimly] "We lost everything." [tearfully] "Doctor Robotnik saw to that when he set his brutal Egg Pawns to attack Goldenhive Colony. We couldn't find any other survivors no matter how hard we tried. Our families... our neighbors..."
"If it's a chance to pay back Eggman..." [angrily] "You BET!"
[Charmy in the post Super Genesis Wave comics, still maintaining his silly little-kid nature]
[mimicking fanfare] "Da-Da-Da-DA! Chaotix to the rescue!"
"Pffft! Bwa-ha-ha! Yeah, right! Sally asked us to help save the world and Vector BEGGED for a royal hand-out!"
Mighty the Armadillo is a Mobian eastern armadillo who takes up residence in the mountains of Angel Island. He has known Sonic the Hedgehog since his childhood, though after their first adventure together they did not meet again for roughly six years. He spent many years of his youth wandering until it brought him to Angel Island by Knuckles and Vector. He is one of the original members of the Chaotix, and has fought side by side with them in numerous battles, and would also back up Sonic's Freedom Fighters.
Mighty is not particularly aggressive, but he enjoys physical activity and is willing to fight for a good cause, especially for the safety of the weak or small. He is extremely protective of his allies, often quick to shield them or ensure they're uninjured. He is extremely protective of Ray the Flying Squirrel, who is basically like a younger brother to him. At times when Ray is in serious danger, Mighty flies into a terrible and uncharacteristic rage. Mighty holds no grudges and is able to get along with everyone, trying to see the good in others and is somewhat sensitive of hurting their feelings.
Mighty's voice is completely up to interpretation. However you feel Mighty should sound, go for it.
[smirks, determined] "Knux, when have I ever passed up a challenge?"
[exhibiting rage towards the notion that Ray had been vaporized by Snively] "HOW COULD YOU DO THAT TO RAY?! HE COULD NEVER HURT YOU! I TOLD HIM I'D KEEP HIM SAFE! AND YOU GO AND VAPORIZE HIM!"
[increasingly angered] "All my strength... and I couldn't do anything..."
[tearfully, talking about his long lost sister] "She... she doesn't remember much of anything. She was roboticized, too young, and..."
[after finally finding and being able to see his long lost sister, Matilda, Mighty is told he can't see her anymore for her safety]
[emotional] "I... I can put on a robe! Take on another name! Don't make me lose her again!"
[to his sister, bittersweet] "This isn't goodbye, I promise you. We will be together."
Ray the Flying Squirrel is a Mobian flying squirrel and is a member of the Chaotix, and is best friends with Mighty the Armadillo. The two have teamed up with Sonic during an escape attempt, but Ray ended up being trapped when he grabbed the prison's Power Stone energy source and was caught in a Time Warp. Years later, Mighty found him and freed him, bringing him back to Angel Island. Ray joined the Chaotix and became a loyal, if timid, member, helping them face various foes on the island and then later on the surface as they fought Eggman alongside the Freedom Fighters.
Ray is not really the bravest person on the planet, but is extremely loyal and very courteous. Despite his fears, he is always willing to do what it takes to help his friends accomplish their goals, and as time goes on he becomes less timid and more eager to join the good fight. He often stutters when he speaks, but doesn't let it stop him from asking questions or do what he has been taught to do.
Ray's voice is completely up to your interpretation. He is oftentimes portrayed with a young teenager voice, like a young kid's middle-range voice, and he stutters A LOT. But you are more than welcome to put your own spin on it.
[in the past, Ray was captured along with Mighty and (supposedly) Sonic. Ray speaks to Sonic with a severe stutter]
"W-W-Wait a-a-a m-m-minute! I-I-I d-d-don't r-r-recall y-y-you b-b-being c-c-captured a-a-along w-w-with us!
[when Matilda shows no emotional reciprocation for Mighty, Ray rages out]
[to Matilda, emotionally enraged] "NO! D-Do you know h-how long h-he looked for you?! H-How much i-it hurt him to th-think you were d-dead or gone forever?! Y-You may n-not remember him, but he remembers YOU! He LOVES you!"
"I-I was lost, too! D-Didn't age r-right, a-and with no one l-left to call family! Mighty took me in. Th-Thanks to him, I've g-got a life now! He w-wants the same for you!... H-He will always be th-there for you. L-Like h-he's a-alway's been there f-for m-me!"
[in the Post super Genesis Wave, where Ray's stutter is nonexistent but he is still the timid yet determined fighter he is]
[sad] "Ugh... When the world broke apart, it was terrifying! Entire chunks of the jungle... just falling into nothing..."
[happy] "Oh! The Egg Army has bee working hard to secure something! Maybe the robot was brought in to help guard it?"
Nicole (once known as NICOLE when she was recognized as a program), is a main character in the Archie Sonic comics. She is an A.I. program originally residing in Sally's handheld computer from a possible future of Mobius that has since been destroyed, and was actually based on an alternate Nicole who was destroyed in that reality. She is incredibly versatile and able to interact with and manipulate most machinery and computer systems due to her advanced technology and is capable of mental and emotional growth. She gradually becomes more and more lifelike in demeanor due to her time interacting with Sally and her Freedom Fighters. Eventually she desired to "live" as they do and developed a complex holographically simulated body that can be projected when resources are available.
Nicole's initial personality was more lacking in autonomy, logical and to-the-point. As time progressed, she became more lifelike, most notably developing a sense of humor, such as sending jolts of electricity to Sonic when he tries to use her. For all of that, she remains a loyal member of the Freedom Fighters, having helped Sally and the others from fates such as Roboticization. Nicole has shown to be quite philosophical as well, believing that Eggman creates robots to replace a family he lacks. Once developing a holographic body to live in, she became much more confident and more friendly to other members of the Freedom Fighters.
Nicole's voice range is medium range, similar to that of an adult woman's voice. Very calm and collected, and logical. In her early days, she can express quite a few emotions, but later down the road Nicole is capable of expressing emotion. You are more than welcome to put your own spin on the character.
[in the early issues, when she was recognized as a program]
"This is foolish, Princess! We came to gather information, not go off on some wild adventure!"
"Scanning --- Sensors are in an extreme state of flux due to a damaging field of unknown origin."
[later on in the comics, when she is recognized beyond her programming and has developed a simulated body]
[happily] "This was something I've been preparing for quite a while now. Doctor Robotnik's efforts have forced me to reveal this before I was finished, but all the same... Welcome to New Mobotropolis! I will be your hostess... Nicole."
[warning of Robotnik's invasion] "Do not congratulate all of our achievements just yet, Princess. It didn't take Dr. Robotnik long to figure out what we did... and he has come to finish what he started."
[in the Post Super Genesis Wave, during the time that the Freedom Fighters are trying to fix the bugs that were corrupting Nicole]
"Basic systems seem to be fine, but I can't access my holo-matrix yet. Oh, well -- baby steps. I'm more concerned that I seem to be running low on dimensional energies left from the Genesis Wave. I may only be able to restore the memories of two or three more people. -- Tops."
Geoffery St. Joh is a Mobian skunk with light blue eyes, white and black hair, and wields a wrist-mounted crossbow. He is a member of King Acorn's Secret Service. He had a father, Ian St. John, and a wife, Hershey St. John. He is also the apprentice of Ixis Naugus.
Geoffery is a master in close-quarters combat. He has shown he can handle himself on his own against most of the Freedom Fighters. he even fought Sonic to a draw on four separate occasions. Geoffery carries a mounted crossbow on his right wrist everywhere he goes just in case a fight comes his way. He also uses other kinds of weapons, tools and gadgets, and even exhibits low-level magic teleporting abilities.
His voice is up to your interpretation, but it must be an Australian accent.
"Geoffery Saint John, late of His Majesty's Secret Service, current leader of the Rebel Underground! Pleasure t' make your acquaintance!"
[angrily] "You an' what navy, you slobberin' sack of..."
"I already 'get it,' mate... You're ticked off 'cause I showed you up in front of the Princess! Sorry to disappoint you... but in our line of work, you either 'stay on your toes...' or you get knocked off your feet!"
[when, supposedly, we are under the presumption that Geoffery is working for Robotnik]
"The merchandise, your lordship... as promised!"
"G'day, mates. Welcome to the party."
[mockingly] "Bright boy figured it out all by y' lonesome, eh? I'm impressed."
