Back in December 2023, I watched Disney's "Wish" with a couple of friends. I felt so mad yet hollow at the same time that I decided I needed to do something with my hatred of this missed opportunity of a milestone film before it consumed me. So, I began writing a video essay about how I'd rewrite it!
The problem is, I got a bit too ambitious , decided I needed to put animatic segments into the video to get some of my ideas across, and now I find myself in need of voice actors. A few of the roles have already been filled by a few voice actor friends of mine, but the rest have yet to be filled for various reasons.
Just a warning, this is a BIG script. As in "just under 50 pages on google docs" big. If you're alright with that, feel free to audition!
Thank you so much to everyone who auditioned! I'll be frank, I didn't expect so many people to show interest in my silly little rewrite project, so I definitely have my work cut out for me haha. I'll try and sort through everything and get roles assigned as soon as I can!

Asha is the main protagonist, and in the rewrite she is the princess of Rosas. Magnifico and Amaya are her parents. Being the heir to the throne, she's been taught magic her whole life and doted on by her parents. Things only begin to change when Asha questions the way they keep wishes, and she watches her father's mask slip for the first time.
Asha is a headstrong young lady, who finds solace in knowledge and books. She sketches because she enjoys it, and has found that she can cast magic more easily using a pencil than just her bare hands. I was originally going to do this voice myself in order to save time, but I'd rather spend time waiting for a better VA to record lines for me than get the video out faster with a lackluster performance from the main character.

But he doesn’t WANT to be a baker, he wants to be a knight. He should be allowed to have the job he wants, right?
(angry whispering) You could turn into something small and easy to conceal this entire time?
(frantic and on the verge of tears) The wish doesn’t matter! You should go back into the sky so you can live! Not get… hung up on what I want!
Asha's best friend and the palace cook. In the rewrite, she and Simon are twins, and they're also the guardians of their 5 younger brothers since their parents passed away. Simon and Dahlia have both already given their wishes to Magnifico. Dahlia's wish is to be a good role model for her brothers, which the King has deemed too vague to grant.
Dahlia's personality is largely unchanged from the final film, being caring and a voice of reason to Asha. She's loyal but strong willed, not being afraid to voice her opinions about things and people she doesn't like. Despite this, she's slow to say anything against the royal family of Rosas until she comes to a point where they're putting her best friend in danger.

(confused but impressed) You stood up to your dad? To the king? I’m proud of you, but also very concerned about where this is going.
(angry) Scared of what? Of you?? She already told us what you wanted to do to her, and we’re not letting you take her.
(excited and nerding out) WHOA! A real wishing star! Do you have wings? Are those sparkles natural or magical? Is it true that you guys are actually fireflies?!
Amaya is the Queen of Rosas and wife of the main antagonist, King Magnifico. In the rewrite, her character more closely follows her early concept iterations in which she was evil alongside the King. She starts the story as composed and caring, but slowly her mask begins to slip as her and the King realize that the people of their kingdom are slipping further and further out of their command.
Amaya is motherly and kind to our protagonist, though has the capacity to be uncaring and rather violent when the opportunity presents itself. She's a classic female disney villain, being regal and refined while also being sinister.

(A little too excited) Let’s try a spell! We could turn him into a harmless little creature. Then we could SMASH him with a hammer.
(Calm and understanding) Mi Cielo, I heard about what happened with you and your father. Is everything alright?
(Cold and uncaring) You’re too young to know what love looks like, mi cielo. Love is doing whatever it takes to keep those you love safe. Even if it means grounding your unruly child, or pulling the stars from the sky so that they may never give someone the power to destroy our home ever again.
Hope is the only character that has no basis in the original film. She's a wishing star, and the mother of our main star boy! Her name comes from the first wish she ever granted for someone. They simply wished to have hope. Along with all the other stars in Rosas, she was pulled out of the sky and locked up in the castle by King Magnifico, forced to stay concealed and grant wishes for the King so he can take the credit and keep up his image to the people of Rosas.
Hope is very motherly and kind, but not in a condescending way like Queen Amaya. She's much more loving and caring despite not being able to be in her son's life, a foil to Queen Amaya who raised her daughter from infancy and still abides by her own conditional love. If it helps to get an idea of what Hope is like, she's meant to be modeled after the Blue Fairy from "Pinocchio".
Her voice is meant to be ethereal and kind, like an angel or (fittingly) a fairy godmother. Singing voice is a bonus, but it's not required(feel free to sing the first couple lines of "A Wish Worth Making" if you feel comfortable in that regard).
(Amused) I’d expect nothing less of you child.
(Like someone reading a bedtime story) Once upon a time, in a far off land, the night sky was full of magic. the stars were alive and roamed the night, listening to any poor soul who would trust them with their wish. And on most nights, even grant them.
(Neutral and condescending) I’m just a silly little star you pulled down from the sky. Obviously I couldn’t be any smarter than you, Magnifico, could I?
