A Heart-to-Heart with Robin - Part 1 (Fire Emblem & Xenoblade 2 Crossover Video Series)

A Heart-to-Heart with Robin - Part 1 (Fire Emblem & Xenoblade 2 Crossover Video Series)

Project Overview

Heyyo! This will be my first (semi-)original project. The concept was jokingly suggested to me through a comment on one of my older YouTube videos, which I came across only recently. It was one of those ideas I thought was so crazy that it just might work. It was a music related video, but the thumbnail for the video included images of the character Robin from Fire Emblem Awakening and Morag from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and the thumbnail itself was stylized like the Fire Emblem support conversations.

Here is a link to what the thumbnail looked like.
"Roaming the Wastes" [MuseScore]

Anyone who has played a Nintendo 3DS Fire Emblem game should recognize what Support conversations are. And if you've only played Xenoblade Chronicles series of games, they are essentially the Fire Emblem equivalent to the "Heart-to-Heart" scenes, hence the title of this project series.

Basically this will be a Visual Novel-style screenplay involving the following characters in a crossover conversation.

  • From Fire Emblem Awakening
    • Robin
  • From Xenoblade Chronicles 2
    • Morag
    • Brighid
    • Ardainian Soldiers (x3)

Each episode will be approximately 5 to 8 minutes. This project will focus only on the first episode.

Episode 1's story...
will involve Fire Emblem Awakening's Robin, whom after setting up camp in the forest with Chrom, Lissa and Frederick during the first chapter, eventually goes to sleep, and in his sleep, he wakes up in the middle of the desert of Mor Ardain, from Xenoblade Chronicles 2. Obviously a bit flustered by his new location, he investigates his predicament, taking note of the mysteriousness of this world. Eventually he makes his way to Mor Ardain's capital, Alba Cavanich, where he is confronted by the Ardainian Soldiers. His lack of knowledge from Alrest eventually earns him an audience with Special Inquisitor Morag and her Blade, Brighid. During his questioning, the group learns something interesting about Robin, which even he didn't expect.

I exaggerated the summary a bit, but the outline and script basically follows that sequence. If you've played either of the games, and know the characters, you may have an idea of what to expect from these characters' reactions to certain situations.

Audition Information...
As for the casting, the actual script won't be revealed until each role has been cast. In fact, no lines will be revealed. Even among the lines you will read for the auditions, none of them will be actual lines from the script. What you will recite for the audition, are lines that have already been spoken by the characters. The, lines on this page will already be present in their respective games, via voice clips or text dialogue. This is to avoid spoiling the project to potential viewers, before the cast has even been decided. Don't worry though. Your audition lines will be at least similar to what will be spoken in the actual project.

Due to the lines being kept confidential, I will need those who are cast to be as in-character as possible for these roles.
I would like to have the lines to sound as close to the original English voice cast as I can. I'm not looking for perfection, as it is still just a fan project, but to keep it immersive for viewers who would know the voices of the characters very well, if you audition, please keep that in mind.

Additional Skills Requested (but not Required):

  1. Character Artist:
    1. I would prefer to have (derivative) 2D artwork of the characters featured in the episode, if you'd be up for it. If it ends up not being feasible, I'll just end up using official PNGs of the characters.
    2. If you're interested in the idea, then we would eventually need side-angle portraits (transparent PNGs) of the characters Robin, Chrom, Morag, Brighid, and the Ardainian Soldiers. Each of the portraits would need to have multiple facial expressions, but easily interchangeable (with the exception of the Ardainian Soldiers, whose expressions can't be seen anyway)
    3. You can draw them in any anime-like style, but however you decide to draw them, I would prefer if the art-style remained consistent between all the characters... As in, all the characters should look like they could stand next to each other and not appear as if they were drawn by 2 completely different people... because they will be standing next to each other a lot.
    4. Because this is (1) a fan project, and (2) an optional role, I will not mark it as a paid role, however, that does not mean I will not pay you if you request so. Just know that I am not a wealthy person and can only afford so much... in your "audition" request, you can comment  whether you want payment or not.
      • And, if so, how much you offer to be paid for the project.
(payment for the whole project would be made after at least one piece of character art is complete, including each variation of expression)
    5. Either way, you will need to provide a sample(s) of your work (before being chosen), in the style you intend to use for the finished project. In turn... if chosen, I will provide any references needed to complete each piece of artwork.
  2. Voice Director
    1. I have zero experience in directing anything. I am willing to learn or teach myself if I need to, but I'm also willing to accept assistance if it's offered. So, if anyone skilled in directing wants, I'll consider your offer. However:
      1. In order to be approved as a director, you must meet one of these requirements:
        • You need to have substantial enough knowledge of the games being represented in this series (Fire Emblem Awakening and Xenoblade Chronicles 2). Specifically you would need to know enough about how each character sounds while talking in their respective games, so that you can properly direct with those voices in mind.
        • OR, you will just need to study the characters' voices at least enough to do the same.
    2. Whatever the case, I will still supervise either way.

Important Deadline Information...
At the end of each Friday (by 7:00 PM Central US Time), if each voice role does not have at least 4 separate auditions (from different accounts), then the official deadline of the project will be extended by 1 week each time. When you audition, please keep an eye on the project as it updates, and feel free to share it or recommend actors to prevent the project from being delayed... And until then, the project script will continually be reviewed and refined.

Where to look for the finished project...
The finished project will be premiered on my YouTube Channel (TactiMuse), with all appropriate credits, displaying at the end of the video as well as in the description. You may share the final video as you see fit. No copyright permissions necessary, as it is a fan project.

Robin (David Vincent Interpretation)

Robin is a very intelligent and clever tactician. As a result, he's very skilled in battle tactics. However he is ignorant of his recent situation (in Fire Emblem Awakening), having recently awakened with amnesia. In the majority of his conversations and dialogue, he is very calm, collected and level-headed. He can be flustered at times when put in dire situations, or when faced with a difficult decision.

  • Robin has an American English accent in all variations, however I would like for auditions to try and simulate his interpretation by David Vincent.

  • [Seeking Approval] If you know who I am, please tell me... Am I fit to stand with Chrom and the others?

  • [Criticizing Tone] I'll never understand minions like you and Exellus. No lives of your own... Living only to serve the beck and call of your masters. Pathetic.

  • [Common battle quote] Time to tip the scales!

Morag is the leader of the Ardainian military, who values the safety of the Empire above anything else. She rarely loses her temper, managing to stay cool-headed even in the most dangerous situations. She is strong-willed and dedicated to her duties as Special Inquisitor, as well as being quite wise, having quite an abundance of knowledge on the land of Alrest.

For her audition, I'm looking for a mature, but formal Scottish accent, similar to her portrayal by Kristie Mitchell.

  • You mean you didn't know? Five hundred years ago, during the Aegis War, the Aegis sank three continents to the Cloud Sea's bed.

  • For the moment, I will return to the palace. If you learn anything new, please send word. I will instruct the palace guards to allow you audience with me.

  • [Post-battle Quote, responding to Brighid]
Here here, Brighid. We go together... pride of the Empire emblazoned on our hearts.

As a Blade from Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Brighid is immortal. She has the appearance and voice of a young adult. Similar to Mòrag, she is very strong-willed and determined. She also is devoted to protecting the Empire and its people, but perhaps even more determined to protect Mòrag herself, and trusts her to a fault.

Though she is immortal, her voice is of a soft-spoken young adult woman. However, when she gets serious, usually during battle or when she's angry, her voice tends to sound quite a bit deeper with a bit of diaphragm (if that makes sense).
It's preferable if it were to be similar to her performance by Jules de Jongh, though any interpretations are on the table.

That emerald Core Crystal... Could it really be true? Well, well. Captain Padraig, you are not to kill them. Take these ones in alive.

You could call it a diary, I suppose. It contains details about my past lives. It's the only way I have to remember.

You're a lucky man, Jin. You've been given the second chance you denied to many brave Ardainians. I doubt your luck would hold up so well if Mòrag were here!

Ardainian Private (Soldier #1)

The soldiers of Mor Ardain generally all have the same appearance and personality. As they're always completely covered with armor and clothing, it's unclear the age of any of the soldiers, however they seem to vary from young adults to middle-aged adults. As military members, they tend to speak concisely and respectively toward their superiors, but harshly or strictly to people outside of the Empire, especially to characters in the main party.

Their voices all seem to have a thick Scottish accent. So whether you audition for this or the other roles, I'd prefer that.

The auditions for the different Ardainian Soldiers will have different lines, so don't expect to be able to upload the same file to both roles.

Lady Mòrag, greetings. I have news from the front. Our Titan weapon has crossed the central border. It's advancing by about 40 titanpeds per hour.

As stated in the project information, I'm hoping to have an artist create anime-style, side-angle portraits (at least waist-up) for each of the featured characters, with multiple facial expressions (at least five), to convey multiple emotions. They would all have to be Transparent PNGs. The facial expressions should be seamlessly and easily swap-able.

Also as stated, even though the project says ZERO budget, I'm willing to pay you for the project if necessary. Just note that this will be the only possible paid role, and that I'm not a wealthy person.

As for samples... any examples of the art style you would plan to use for the project would be permitted. And remember, the same art style would need to be used for every character.

This is another optional role. Again, I have no directing experience, but I'm willing to give it an attempt if I need to.

Still, if you want to lend aid, then I'd just need to see some examples of past works.

Also it's important that the person applying has knowledge of how the English Voices of all the characters involved in the project would normally sound in their respective games, just so that you can properly direct with those voices in mind.

Whatever the case, I'll be supervising either way.
