100% Orange Juice - English Fandub Mod (Wave 2)

Project Overview

Check out the collection of existing fandubs here!

Have you heard of the magical virtual board game 100% Orange Juice!? If not, you're in for a surprise, since this game is a fun, whimsical, anime-style rollercoaster ride with plenty of personality across a wide range of characters from developer Orange_Juice's titles such as QP Shooting, SUGURI, Flying Red Barrel and more! With an easy surface-level gameplay profile but surprising amounts of nuance and updates coming regularly, it is a game that is respected by both the developers at Fruitbat Factory and its loyal, RNG-loving community alike.

With Fruitbat having released modding support within the past two years, modding the game to provide an English dub has become a lot more feasible as of late. However, due to a lack of funds and negotiation, we are unable to make this sort of thing official (yet), so it stays just that - a mod; a perfect idea for people who want to swap between languages seamlessly as they see fit. More and more games of this nature are getting voiceover support in several languages aside from just Japanese, so in an attempt to captivate more potential audience members, we have opted to fire up this project in order to pique interest! In fact, we already have the first four characters of the cast completed, and are striving to have everyone dubbed within a couple of years' time, but to do this, we cannot realistically act alone.

Fasten on your headphones, get your soundproofing, and clear your throat - it's recording time! Are you ready for the most passionate, energetic, orange-juiciest lines to ever be read? High audio quality, with little to no reverberation, fuzz, or background noise, is heavily preferred. Also favored are voice actors who can conduct their own independent editing to make the audio crisp, balanced, and easy to hear over music and sound effects alike.

If anyone is looking to support us in future endeavours, feel free to ask concerning contact methods and anything related. We really appreciate any concern that goes into the quality of our production!

Latest Updates

  • Delay in Casting Scheduled

Hello everyone, Sorry to raise concern, but due to additional difficulties encountered internally, casting could not be finished on time. The cast will be fully decided no later than July 1st, 2022. Please stay tuned for further updates. Thank you for understanding, coolbeans63
  • UPDATE: Audition Stage Finalization

Hello all, First of all, we would like to extend our gratitude to everyone who has shown interest in the project thus far, and lent their voices in order to potentially be used in the final product. We have been unable to give feedback due to time constraints and staffing issues, but we aim to correct this within the next week or so, as well as the lack of updated word counts. First of all, we have extended the deadline by an extra two days: up to June 10th. Not only was the original June 8th deadline a bit of an oversight, but this will allow us more time to reel in more talent prospects and get a better understanding of what we are working with as a result. Secondly, we also have to clear up a few misconceptions before moving forward. Casting will not actually take place until after the deadline to give everyone a fair chance (the date of the final cast will be no later than Friday, June 17th), and no, Poppo will not be receiving an English dub because... well, Poppo is Poppo. Again, we must grant our thanks to everyone who has participated so far. We look forward to working with each and every one of those cast in the future, near or far. Best of luck, Tundraa

Yuki (QP Shooting)
closed
Unpaid
Role assigned to: Jaysen Lynn

A rough-and-tumble jerk with a snarky attitude and a secret heart of gold, Yuki is the leader of the Waruda Gang, an organized group of cat-themed, trouble-loving miscreants, and serves as heroine QP's worst nightmare, having held her beloved pudding hostage in order to have her demands fulfilled. Though somewhat flanderized in the process of being brought into the dice realm, she still loves to pull her regular pranks on people, striving for schadenfreude.

Yuki is in her early 20s. In game, she is known to be a member of the 'bully' archetype of characters (often known for disrupting more passive characters with constant attacks and frequent trap usage), so her voice should reflect this with a snarky attitude, a need for vengeance, and perhaps some tomboyish energy, as well. Preferred for this role is a moderate-high range with a somewhat stereotypical New York or Jersey accent - but avoid overdoing it!

Required for this role are some vocal-sensitive responses such as wails, yelps, and groans of pain and exhaustion. Swearing may also be present in the dialogue (do not audition for this role unless you are comfortable with this). Extra consideration will be given to those who are familiar with / willing to play the game, and those who can conduct their own audio editing. Those who apply for this role may be contacted in the future for follow-up recordings.

  • So you're choosin' me, huh? Heh, just as I expected! I'll listens to ya for once. But I expect a *big* bonus once we're done, 'kay? (greeting the player on the select screen; having anticipated their decision, she decides to take some initiative and swindle them a bit, as a typical gang boss would do)

  • You challengin' me? Takes some guts to do that.~ (when being challenged to battle by another player; inquisitive, then slightly mocking, as though boasting about her power)

  • *exaggerated mischievous laughter* Pudding with soy sauce... tastes like *sea urchin*! (veritably excited; this is one of her signature pranks and it never gets old for her)

Hime (SUGURI)

Role assigned to: Veeah (Via)

The final boss of the once wildly popular bullet hell game SUGURI, Hime (pronounced HEE-may) is the android to surpass all. Having been crafted by a deranged man hellbent on exterminating Earth's population and replacing it solely with artificial life to serve his needs, he designed Hime as the pinnacle of this blueprint - with seamless functions that quash all of his prior creations, extreme power that does not compromise her elegance, and a sentient mind, she is easy to compare to a robotic goddess. However, she soon came to resent her creator, and began roaming the barren blue marble with Suguri, the girl once destined to stop her.

Hime is ageless, as she is a construct, but she should read as a woman in her mid-20s or so. Though she is somewhat foreign to emotion as a robot and is slightly disinterested with her competition, she displays a wide range of thoughts and feelings, from a chiming, playful joy to a soft, yet firm distaste. She has a tendency to be flowery and somewhat formal with her speech, as though to prove a point about artificial superiority. Her voice should be overall light and perhaps slightly airy. Preferred is an English accent, and vast preference will be shown to those with an authentic accent.

Required for this role are some vocal-sensitive responses such as wails, yelps, and groans of pain and exhaustion. Extra consideration will be given to those who are familiar with / willing to play the game, and those who can conduct their own audio editing. Those who apply for this role may be contacted in the future for follow-up recordings.

  • Now then, allow me to lead. *Ahem.* For the sake of protecting everyone... (formal, transitioning into a soft, yet dramatic reading that trails off, as though rehearsing a play she knows like the back of her hand)

  • Oh me, oh my... such a pleasant surprise. What is it that lures you towards this choice? Care to prance along the hills of green? Perhaps share a dance or two? (being selected by the player; carrying a cordial tone, which is then mixed with curiosity as she prods for what they may desire)

  • You truly are vile. The lowest scum that this planet has to offer. A definite good-for-nothing. (cold, but not too sharp; speaking in plain disgust for her creator)

Fernet (Flying Red Barrel)
closed
Unpaid
Role assigned to: RainOverWater

Reared by particularly affluent parents, Fernet is heiress to said family that she is a member of, and is therefore used to quite the high standard of living, acting quite prissy and spoiled without a single ounce of shame. While she has a slight lack of appreciation for the Blue Sky Union that her classmate Marc is a member of, she still acts cordially towards its members, if not a little condescending.

Fernet is in her mid-teens, and typically speaks with an aura of superiority to those around her, and can even be condescending or mocking in conveying it. However, she has the potential to get enraged if something doesn't go her way or if something particularly unflattering happens. She should preferably be voiced with an English accent of the Received Pronunciation variety.

  • Ah, pleased to see you again. No matter how this all pans out, know that you are welcome to visit ay any time. We could even chat over a cup of tea, if you'd like. (greeting the player at the menu; a little flat, like she gives this introduction all the time, but still friendly as she can manage)

  • Ehehehehe. My condolences for your loss. (after defeating an enemy; starting with a playful giggle, before transitioning into a sarcastic expression of remorse)

  • Hmph! Absolutely, positively *disgusting*! What a disgrace. (something unfortunate happens in game; for this, she should have a sharp, angry tongue)

Aru (Xmas Shooting)

Unpaid
Role assigned to: Jaysen Lynn

The fantasy-Japan personification of Christmas spirit, the rabbit-eared Aru works as a typical old shopkeeper at the Rbit Hobby Store for 11 of the 12 months of the year, but come December, she mysteriously disappears. The rumors of a 'Santa' flying throughout the sky and dispensing presents for children worldwide is actually her doing, and she has to spend unhealthy amounts of time preparing each time, but she still maintains a strong sense of joy and passion while doing so. She is also as ambitious as a typical protagonist, stopping at nothing to ensure all her gifts are delivered on time, aided by her miniature reindeer assistant Rein (pronounced RYNE, as in 'rhino').

Aru is in her mid-teens. Though scared of particularly strong foes, she does her best to maintain optimism even in the face of hardship, but it's still a work in progress, as she has a slight tendency to crack and get emotional under pressure. Either way, she should mostly be portrayed as a determined, upbeat girl with no intention of ever letting her goals slip from sight.

Required for this role are some vocal-sensitive responses such as wails, yelps, and groans of pain and exhaustion. Extra consideration will be given to those who are familiar with / willing to play the game, and those who can conduct their own audio editing.

  • Alright, off we go! First up on our list is this house... Rein, could you stop here? Thanks a dozen! Now let me just-- oh no, the presents! Where'd they go?! (confident and cheery at first, then analytic, switching back into happiness, before realizing her cargo is gone and acting in absolute disbelief)

  • Uuugh, I'm *sooo* dead if I don't hurry up and make up that lost time right away! Quick, let's get moving! (recovering after a setback; dreading the consequences of a loss, she hurries back onto her feet and then speaks with rich ambition to help encourage the player)

  • Hey, boys and girls: I -- brought -- *presents~!* (using a special ability; attention grabbing, then with dramatic pauses spacing the last three words; the last should be read with particularly excited emphasis)

Sora (sora)

Role assigned to: akariki

In the era before SUGURI, a fearsome war darkened the Earth's sky, leading to one of the ruling military's super soldiers - a girl known only as Sora - to defect in a blind rage. Unlike most others pulled into the dice world, she almost always maintains her air of seriousness, and assuredly never pulls any punches, often overloading her augments in order to provide quick burst improvements to her performance, in spite of how dangerous it is.

Sora is in her mid-teens, just like Fernet and Aru, but is a lot more serious and calculating. She reserves her joy only for the closest of friends; everyone else sees a highly analytical combat machine, deserving of the title she was given - the 'Ultimate Weapon'. She also has a tendency to be a pessimist, very fearful of what the world may look like if she makes even a single mistake. This should all be reflected in different segments of her dialogue. Those who also have experience singing will be given additional consideration, as a translation in the future involves such subject material.

  • This is Sora speaking. ... I'll commence... my operation now. (beginning a radio transmission; soft, yet serious throughout)

  • Such a bright sky... It's not familiar, but it's so pretty... (making an observation about the foreign world; mildly amazed)

  • I'm... not holding back... *any longer!* (activating an ability that overloads her augments; hesitant at first, then harsh and determined, communicating a sense of urgency)

Peat (Flying Red Barrel)
closed
Unpaid
Role assigned to: joshedev

Serving as a rival to pilot Marc and even attending the Guild like she does, Peat is highly arrogant and competitive by nature, piloting the Blue Crow - what he believes to be the best aircraft ever manufactured - and swearing to supposedly force his fellow pilot out of the trade some day. He is confident to a fault, often taking massive risks that lead to a quick downfall, but despite this, nothing can keep him and his attitude down for very long.

Peat is in his mid-teen years. As a pilot, he gives concise, professional statements, but when he can afford to, he loves to showcase his natural pride and the cockiness flowing through his veins. He often denies the possibility that he can make mistakes, and when he does, he either denies their existence or blames them on something else. In spite of this, he also appears to be mechanically intelligent, as piloting a plane and designing modifications for it is not a fool's errand.

Required for this role are some vocal-sensitive responses such as wails, yelps, and groans of pain and exhaustion. Swearing may be present in the dialogue (do not apply for this role if this makes you uncomfortable). Extra consideration will be given to those who are familiar with / willing to play the game, and those who can conduct their own audio editing.

  • No matter who the competition is, I'll mop the floor with them! (starting a game; the inflections here should be obvious)

  • Hey there, Red Barrel. Your flying's all over the place as always. (challenging his rival Marc; teasing in nature in an attempt to aggravate her)

  • N- No way... Not fair! That was dumb luck and you *know* it! (losing a fight; weak and struggling to speak at first, then indignant and upset, denying his loss)

  • Player 1! Player 2! Player 3! Player 4! (at the start of each player's turn)

  • Trap card activated. (when a player triggers a trap card; should have some soft tones of pity to represent the misfortune that often accompanies it)

Tomomo

Role assigned to: MBTeddyGram

The creator of the dice world herself, Tomomo is a part-time office 'wage slave' (as she calls it) who was at one point granted her magical powers by a mysterious imposing force, therefore turning her into an omnipotent Magical Girl with chaotic powers pertaining to world creation and similar things. This gives her full reign to be as cocky, brash, and in-your-face as she wants, though she's notorious for having some awful habits like always showing up late and having a penchant for leaving her personal space untidy.

Tomomo is in her mid-20s. Her voice should be in the moderate-high range, and her tone should give off equal parts of intimidation, competitiveness, and dorkiness to make her realistically immature, yet still representative of her game-wise power. She should be able to go from lazy and hesitant to brimming with energy at a moment's notice.

  • *low, sinister chuckling* Let the fear-striking begin. (when being selected by the player; at a lower volume, giving off those intimidating vibes, while not really sounding too serious)

  • You... you good-for-nothing! This is the *last* time you'll rebel against me, mark my friggin' words! (targeting a servant of hers; enraged that they're not following her orders)

  • Muwahaha~! Witness my Magical Power! (using an ability in battle to boost her strength; loud, diabolical laughter, then transitioning into a pointed, in-your-face boast regarding her newfound gains)
