About Michael Blaha VO

Hello, there!

‎‎
Welcome, and thank you for stopping by.
I'm still very new here and learning the site.

(I've been away, only popping in every now and again, and kept very busy since joining the site. Among many other things, when I'm not busy with 'day job' activities, I keep active looking after an elderly family member. It all keeps me hopping. HOWEVER, my aim is to now start making full use of this site to my greatest ability, and to OUR mutual benefit.

But, I digress...)

Some background

I've been studying VO on-and-off for a number of years; this following many years of many varieties of performance (starting from Shakespeare in, yes, primary school, on to local/regional live theatre including everything from children's theatre to grand musicals, some theme park performance & promotion, short-form on-camera work, and various vocal ensembles and choirs, all eventually leading me to Voice Acting).

Admittedly, my love of VO probably started like many of you in listening to audio dramas from golden-era radio days (War of the Worlds, anyone?), as well as more recent but retro and great contemporary works starting from Hitchhiker's Guide or the NPR productions of Star Wars, and on and on. I started dabbling in VO, then studying, then life got in the way. Now I'm seriously back on the horse.

Moving forward: Goals & Plans

Here's the honest truth... I'm starting out on the free level here because of significant resource limitations. However, I know I have the skill to potentially impress some of you, and collect some great audio samples. (No, I won't call them 'demos'... yet).

Once I've won participation in a handful of great projects here, I'll choose particular voice samples from them (with help from the trusted opinion of people I've trained with) in order to have something of a 'proto-demo' as it were. Then, eventually, once resources and training levels are right, I'll have a professionally produced demo created, which I'll then officially post here and on my website (which is currently still a work-in-progress).

Motivations

Even though I've previously technically been a member other casting sites, admittedly years ago, this will be the first time I've seriously used a casting site. Even here on the hobbyist level, I feel like this site takes respecting every level seriously. That's a good thing to observe.

‎ ‎

For me, it's all about climbing the ladder, taking my lumps as I make inevitable errors, learn from them, and build toward further mastery. So here I am.

Associations

I'm also a proud Associate Member of the World Voices (WoVO) which is an amazing advocacy organization for those (currently and nearly) professionals in the Voice-Over industry.

Feel free to message me anytime for any reason.
I expect this to be nothing short of an adventure. 🤝

Pricing

At present, I'm here in the 'hobbyist' level for resource retention purposes.  I'm currently working on building an assortment of voice samples via experience with projects here.  My aim is to have quality promotional material to promote myself with here as well as on a website I'm building.

For the time being... I'm happy with whatever the offered pay per project is here.

HOWEVER, realistically, as soon as resources are optimal and my VO coach and I agree that I'm ready, I'll be acquiring a proper professionally produced demo.  That is likely when I will upgrade a level for access to more commercial opportunities.

At that point my rate structure will generally follow professional non-union rates described in the GVAA rate guide.  Thank you.

What Michael Blaha VO is looking for

I'd be very happy to be the voice for your commercial or narration
project, for characters in an audio play, animation, or video game project. Or I'm also always interested in trying new things a prospective client may like my voice for.
