I write this minutes after completing production with Matthew Lawson. I know I am a fussy director, and for a 25,000 word book, I had booked out my entire day. However, a three hour recording session (which included a half hour break) had the entire project finished to my satisfaction. (Now I need to figure out what to do with the rest of my day.)
Matthew followed direction well, and stumbling over a line was a rare event. I have experience working productions where an actor needs three or four takes for each line to get the emotion and delivery correct, so seeing Matthew perform, it was genuinely startling to see most lines spoken perfectly on the first attempt.
I sincerely hope that Matthew finds a director willing to pay him what he's worth as an actor, because I know that I sure-as-hell didn't.
