Dark Matter Productions

Dark Matter Productions (formerly TITEUF-85 Prøductions and 85 Prøductions) is French modder William Faure's official non-profit publishing label for his various maps, mods, add-ons, expansions, trailers and other free releases dedicated to popular old-school video-games, such as Wolfenstein, a series of World War II video games originally created by Muse Software, and currently owned by id Software LLC and ZeniMax Media Inc.

Dark Matter Productions was created as TITEUF-85 Prøductions in 2013 by William Faure. The label was renamed 85 Prøductions on November 1, 2016, and Dark Matter Productions on May 8, 2020.

The name, Dark Matter Productions, is a direct tribute to Gray Matter Interactive, also known as Gray Matter Studios, the defunct company behind the development of the 2001 first-person shooter video game Return to Castle Wolfenstein, published by Activision.

Instead of the anatomic "Gray matter", I have chosen to go with the physical cosmology theme with the "Dark matter". Gray Matter Interactive may have opted for the "Gray matter", a major component of the central nervous system, most likely because playing video-games leads to crazy brain stimulation, inevitably. "Dark matter" was chosen for Dark Matter Productions, not only for its important yet still theoretical meaning to the universe itself, but also and more importantly as a way to refer to what it all started with almost a decade ago, the company's very own Big Bang: The Dark Army, the first Return to Castle Wolfenstein mod by William Faure.
