Courtney Chavez is a voice over artist, actress, dungeon master, and content creator based in southern California with 6+ years of experience in the games industry. She is formally trained, having taken several professional-level courses at Del Mar Media Arts in Irvine, California for Animation, Narration, Audiobooks, Dialects, and Voiceover 1 & 2.
With her varied background in the gaming industry, she has the valuable perspective of having been on both sides of the booth. As a Lore Historian at Blizzard, she came to learn the more technical aspects of how voiced media comes together, having worked on the creative ideation side of producing cinematics and video scripts for World of Warcraft. While at Turtle Rock Studios, she wrote dialogue and provided guidance for line readings for Sharice, a playable character in the Tunnels of Terror DLC for Back 4 Blood, and provided temporary voice lines for various creatures and characters.
Courtney is an avid participant in the tabletop RPG community and a passionate advocate of the LGBT+ community. In her spare time, she plays and runs campaigns in Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition, crafting intricate narratives and strengthening her skills in collaborative storytelling, improv, and voice acting.
She is not only committed to delivering top-notch performances but also to collaborating seamlessly with your team to bring characters and narratives to life. Courtney is enthusiastic about contributing her skills to projects ranging from video games and animation to comic dubs, audio dramas, narration, and beyond.
Continuing study of voice over using more advanced material. Material chosen specifically to the needs of each student. Class culminates with students reading for a professional voice-caster/producer.
Students learn to create and sustain original characters for cartoon work and video games. Class culminates with a virtual visit from a successful animation voice artist. This class is a prerequisite for Advanced Animation, which will include Disney participation.
Students learn skills to perform vocal work in radio theater and audiobooks, which are very similar in nature. The regional dialects of New York, American Southern, American North Eastern, and British are developed. Class culminates with students reading for a audiobook producer from a major recording studio.
Orientation to the skills of voice over acting using a combination of lectures and hands on experience. Course focuses on radio commercials, narration, and animation/character voices, as well as industrial work, demo production, and marketing. Class culminates with the participation of a SAG/AFTRA agent.
Developing interpretation skills, focus, and delivery for strength and consistency. Geared toward material such as documentaries, online product videos, e-learning, and instructional videos. Class culminates with a virtual visit from an Emmy-nominated, award-winning documentary producer.
