I was always the kid that would ask "why?" to anything I was told to do. Genuinely curious to know the reason why I had to do this or couldn't do that. "Because I said so" never got my parents very far. That inquisitiveness eventually brought me to music and the creation of it. At the time, I was very sheltered and only knew the lyrics of hymnals, the sounds of clapping slightly off beat and the occasional tambourine accompaniment. Of course, as any 13-14 year old, I would sneak around and smuggle contraband into my parents incredibly conservative Hispanic baptist home. Everything from a Men In Black VHS to the newest Lecrae album. Yeah, I was a bad boy. It was through one of these ever so scandalous acts that my passion for audio came from. The song "Heard 'Em Say" by Kanye West featuring Adam Levine was the first time I had heard music with something that wasn't blatantly an acoustic instrument. Through that song I discovered synthesizers, digital audio workstations, digital instrumentation, music production, audio engineering, my love for writing, and finally my love for the digital arts. Looking back, I know that song set the entire course for my life. Since then, I've had many different jobs that have had nothing to do with music or audio. Something that I've always heard however, is that I have a radio voice. Any time I'd speak over the intercom at the many dealerships I've worked at, I'd get compliments. At one point, I was actually chosen to do a Spanish radio ad for that reason. When I would speak at my father's church, it was nearly a running joke how much more powerful my voice was to anybody else that spoke that morning. Even now that I work at a professional recording studio with hundreds of artists and have heard thousands of voices, more often than not, I'm called on when one of them needs that little (or a lot) extra for their project. I love music. I love video games and the many stories that are told within such an interactive medium. I love anime and the overly expressive tones and textures that are painted on the screen overlaid with every emotional facet of the human (and sometimes other-worldly) voice. I can't wait to bring everything I've heard, seen, and learned to your project.
