Role assigned to: James Dijit

– Marquess Ostia's younger brother. Reckless, but loyal.

One of the three main characters of our story, Hector is the brother of the Marquess of Ostia.

Hector has quite a reckless personality, and is never afraid to speak his mind, often leaving him to sound rather blunt. However, he still cares greatly for his companions. He is quite enthusiastic about fighting and sparring, and trains very hard to improve his axefighting skills.

Voice: Low. Resolute, impulsive, and reliable.

✸ This character returns for Part II: The Binding Blade.

  • [Not required, but I would love for you to introduce yourself before your audition! Please keep this quick and concise!]

  • “Eliwood’s father is missing, for goodness’ sake! We know that Marquess Laus is connected in some way. I say we use Ostia’s might to end this mystery and find the truth!”
“Oh, I see. So this is who directed the battle plan back there, hm? You know, Mark, you’re very young. We’ve many strategists in Ostia, but none so young. Eliwood, are you sure about this one?”
“There was this man–a giant with a great beard–carrying a girl on his shoulders. The girl called to him “Father”, and she was smiling, happy. Then the father said to her, “Yes, my beloved daughter?” That’s all, really. But it felt as though… It felt like a long-past memory. The man looked a bit like my own father, I suppose. But who is the little girl? Aye, she was a cute one.”

  • “You’re not having the greatest run of luck either. I’ll wager you never thought things would turn into such a terrible mess, did you? …If it gets to be too much, you can leave at any time. You’re a reliable and dependable tactician, but… You’re not our servant, you know? If you think our task impossible, you should get out. You’re as smart as they come. I know you don’t need me to tell you that.”
“What happened in the past, what reasons drive you… None of these matter!! I have no compassion or pity for you whatsoever! The crimes you’ve committed are unforgivable. I care not for your excuses. Prepare yourself, Nergal! With these hands, I shall end your crimes today!!”
“I sealed Armads away, like it used to be, but… I can still feel its power pulsing inside me. War is coming. Someday, a terrible war… When that day comes… I want you to be there when that day comes. I want you to guide my children and me.”

I'm sorry, but you don't appear to be auditioning for characters that fit your vocal type. As per the project guidelines, please be sure to pay attention to the voice descriptions given for each role.

As someone who was considering voice acting for the first time because of this project, this is incredibly disheartening to see. I'm new and I don't necessarily know my voice type or vocal range. I just wanted to audition for characters I liked and have a good time trying because I love this franchise. Why does it matter what roles this person auditions for? Are they not even allowed to try if it doesn't fit them? This is a non-paid FAN PROJECT, why can't people audition for what they want? Maybe they really like the character they auditioned for, even if it doesn't fit their range? Do you know this person? To me, it sounds like they read every word accurately and put forth their best effort. Why did you feel compelled to comment on this and call them out publicly? Is this not something that could be discussed over private messaging? Is your intention to ask them to stop auditioning? Furthermore, your guidelines state you'd like people to bring their own flair to their performance. If their perception of the delivery is different than yours, just don't cast them, that is your right as the director but there is no need to discourage anyone. It takes a lot of courage to put your voice on the internet and call me sensitive if you'd like but you have absolutely deterred me from trying this at all.

I think the original response was appropriately worded, and very respectful. I understand your points in general, but the project creator did not tell the actor to stop voice acting, only to consider their range, which is a good piece of advice. If one respectfully worded comment is enough to deter you, it's going to be difficult to work with the scores of people within the industry who don't care about your feelings at all. I would never suggest that you or anyone else quit voice acting, and I want to encourage you to continue doing what you love, but you need to understand that going forward you're going to receive feedback, and it is almost never going to be personal. If it is personal, that's that person's problem and not yours. You just have to follow your dream and ignore anyone telling you to quit. Considering how many people submit to the average project on this website, anyone is lucky to even be listened to, much less commented upon, even if the comment isn't outright praise.
