No Fear Shakespeare: Much ado about nothing
Miles Tarrant for Benedick
An aristocratic soldier who has recently been fighting under Don Pedro, and a friend of Don Pedro and Claudio. Benedick is very witty, always making jokes and puns. He carries on a “merry war” of wits with Beatrice. He's a serial womanizer, that at the beginning of the play swears he will never fall in love or marry, leading his friends to make him fall in love with Beatrice. He's intelligent, but unable to commit to anything or find anything serious, always trying to find the bright side and the easy way to do things, trying to deny his feelings. He changes after he falls for Beatrice, becoming more dedicated and able to take on his duties. He should have a mid ranged voice, and the actor playing him should be able to carry both his wittier manners and his most serious, corageous ways.
All ladies love me, except you. It’s too bad I’m so hard-hearted, because I really don’t love anyone.
I knew him when he would’ve walked ten miles to see a well-crafted suit of armor; now he spends ten nights awake in his room designing himself a fancy new jacket. He used to speak plainly and to the point, like an honorable man and soldier; now his speech is elaborate and flowery. His words are like a miraculous banquet, full of strange new dishes. Will I be changed like that, and see the world through a lover’s eyes? I’m not sure, but I don’t think so.
I’ll swear by my sword that you love me, too, and I’ll make any man who says that I don’t love you eat it. I swear. I love you.
Your inflection remind me a bit about David Tennant's depiction of Benedick XD I think you sound a bit too young for him, and also I've always thought of him with a more mocking, easy going voice. You sound a bit 'stiff', but overall you have a good setting
Thanks for your feedback. Yeah, I slightly based my audition around Tennant's portrayal (but without the Scottish accent) and my voice is already inclined in that way. I am young (nearly 18) so I should probably audition for a role closer to my age range like Claudio. Thanks again!
Yes, I think you might fit more for him, but anyway thanks for trying!
I've been re-listening to your audition and dang, you could be a Tennant impersonator when you grow up a bit (sounds quite stringe, since I'm basically your Age XD). If I open another Shakespeare project I'll surely give you a call
I actually do Tennant Impressions on Youtube but it seems it has influenced my normal acting voice! XD I'm definitely up for more Shakespeare projects, thank you for promising to notify me.
