Ally sat in her chair, looking down at the table. She could only think of one person she wanted to see. Her dad. Never in her life did she long to hear his voice as desperately as she did now.

Cautiously, Ally stepped out from the doorway and saw the grand foyer below her. The floors were inlaid with polished marble, and white stone columns stood on each side, facing a large, dark, wooden double door at the other end.

Turning back to watch the gateway shrink behind her, Ally heard tiny raindrops pattering against the top of her helmet. It took a moment of scanning her surrounding through the blue visor before she realized it was night. The air was frigid and damp, the sky mostly dark with an eerie orange glow off to one side.
