Dear Monster AUDITION RESULTS
Shantia for Faeryn the Unicorn
Short Description: Master of flowery language and long speeches. Has a penchant for drama. He appears as a beautiful man with long hair.
Age: Hundreds of years, but sounding anything between 20-35.
Background: Faeryn used to live in an enchanted forest, but he got bored because nothing ever happened. He joined a party of extremely unskilled human adventurers and had traveled with them for many years, pretty much keeping them alive. Then he met the wizard (protagonist’s grandpa) and was fascinated by the world he spoke of. He decided to visit the wizard’s world.
Personality: Very protective and kind to a fault. He always sees the good in everyone and rushes to save them, even if it’s not necessary.
The wizard told him about his grandson so many times that Faeryn became fascinated, and eventually developed an unhealthy obsession with the protagonist.
Faeryn has very outdated notions of courtship, marriage and chastity, which clash with the protagonist’s point of view.
Role: Faeryn is, to a large degree, a comedic character, so we’re looking for someone who will make us laugh. However, as the player gets to know him, they encounter many serious, or even sad moments. Strong acting skills are a must.
Voice: We don’t have a specific voice in mind. This role could fit either American or British accent.
[Meets the protagonist] Oh, at last, it is you! I have been waiting for so long. Words cannot describe the joy I feel upon meeting you, dear lad. My name is Faeryn, the keeper of Sacred Woods, the bearer of the Horn, the brother of Asallam, the– [at this point, the player has a choice to either let him continue or mercifully interrupt]
[“What do you think of horse riding?”] Oh, I absolutely despise it! All creatures, tame and wild, have the right to live freely, fulfilling their true potential. [pause] Ah, but I wouldn’t mind you riding me. I-I didn’t mean-t-that is-uh- [the words you use to stutter here are up to you]
[This part with sadness + warmth] The legend says that anyone who touches a unicorn will gain eternal happiness. [pause] But it is not so. I am truly sorry. I cannot grant your wish.
