Shattered Eternity: Hadley's Tale [LGBT HIGH FANTASY EPOCH]
Richard Gibson for Angus Calthenwick
Angus Calthenwick (Voice range: Mid, upbeat with a thick accent)
Race: Halfling
Profession: Merchant, Storyteller, Opportunist
Origin: Saltpoint, Coastal Realms
Notable Traits: Quick wit, bottomless bag, suspiciously good luck
Angus is a halfling with a silver tongue and mud-stained boots. Whether he's swapping a half-eaten biscuit for a demon relic or escaping through a wine barrel, Angus always walks away with more than he arrived with. Tales follow him like flies on honey—some say he once convinced a lich to buy insurance. Whether friend or fraud depends on the day, but one thing’s certain: he always knows a way out.
He claims to have seen every corner of Vitore and a few that no longer exist. His ever-expanding pack is a source of wonder and suspicion, containing items no one remembers him purchasing. He rarely travels alone for long, often attaching himself to adventuring parties with a smile, a flask, and a suspiciously well-timed "business opportunity."
Though he laughs easily, Angus is not without depth. He has survived plagues, bandits, and heartbreak, always emerging wiser and slightly wealthier. Those who underestimate him tend to regret it—briefly, and then at length.
Reputation:
- Known in every major port city (and wanted in at least two)
- Regular informant to smugglers and rogue guilds
- Carries at least three fake names and a real map to somewhere terrible
- generic scottish
(cheery, with an exaggerated bow) "Angus Calthenwick, at yer service! Trader, adventurer, and occasional escape artist. If it’s worth a coin, I’ve probably got it somewhere in this pack."
(lighthearted, even in the face of danger) "Och, lassie, I’m both the luckiest and unluckiest trader ye’ll ever meet. Lucky enough to live through the chaos, unlucky enough to walk straight into it!"
(a bit more serious, with a touch of homesickness) "I can’t wait to get back to Saltpoint. To hear the sea again, taste proper food, and see me wife’s smile. Aye, that’d be worth all the monsters in this blasted swamp."
