Anamnesis: Golden Nights (A Bite-Sized Audio Drama)
Richard Gibson for [Series Antagonist] Lucian Cainwright
CHARACTER BIO:
Lucius Cainwright, the only non-Alwyn CEO in Luminary's history, was a visionary leader who transformed the company from a hydroponics pioneer into a technological powerhouse. Appointed in 1901 after a board rebellion, he was instrumental in establishing Luminary as an industry leader, but his ambition came at a cost. By 1925, a series of scandals brought his tenure to a disgraceful end, paving the way for the young and ambitious Oscar Alwyn to succeed him. As the main antagonist of the show, Cainwright’s ruthless ambition, cunning intellect, and willingness to manipulate those around him make him a formidable and dangerous opponent. His legacy, both of innovation and corruption, looms large over Luminary and its future.
PERFORMANCE:
For this character, he is in his 60s, so we want a slightly older masculine performance that's almost regal perhaps. An English or American accent will be great here, feel free to take your own interpretation of the character. A deeper voice could be great as well, just make sure to show his villainry (is that a word) in your performance.
LINES:
CAINWRIGHT: Defy me again, and I’ll remind you why Luminary answers to me, not the other way around.
CAINWRIGHT: This Vox Memorius trio is getting to be a problem, they've been getting too comfortable with our secrets. Kessler, deal with them in whatever manner you deem fit.
CAINWRIGHT (to Oscar Alwyn): Without me, Luminary would have fallen into ruination years before, boy. You Alwyn's may have sparked the company, but it is I who is writing our future.
