Great easter egg
Great looking game! High fantasy, pixel art, and grid turn based looks like a winning combination. Haven't played the combat demo yet, but while I've got you here, have you considered some kind of system where you can take abilities from defeated foes (particularly bosses) and use them for the rest of the game? The description mentions equipping and upgrading companions, so it might be interesting to have to think about who gets which ability as well.
Thank you! About abilities - I aimed more for a simplistic approach. Like an introduction to SRPG genre and having "skill steal" requires some "metagaming". It also does not help, that only player characters (based on class) can use skills, so taking abilities from enemies, that does not use those abilities would bring even more confusion. But will think about that in other games.
Sounds good! And I get what you mean about simplicity. Fire Emblem is a pretty good example. There's a lot of really cool mechanics in the newer titles that I like a lot, but it sometimes feels like they lost a bit of the fine strategy that it had whenever the pieces were simpler.
