Verne is a very relaxed and comforting scarecrow character, and his voice should reflect this. His voice should be peaceful and mellow and positive, like a pillow. As a reference, I’d suggest Bob Ross, though perhaps not quite as deep. Verne could be seen to fit the “stoner” archetype as he engages in smoking a pipe and has a very chilled out and carefree attitude, though he doesn’t use as much slang. His tone is medium-deep, and he should sound either like a young adult or middle-aged, but not elderly or teenage. I’m once again open to him having a British or American accent. For a British accent reference, I’d suggest Guthrie Govan or Steven Wilson.

  • Oh, it’s nothin’ really, I actually quite like hanging out with the breeze and crows. Just the other day, I met a crow that could talk… Though he wasn’t very kind. I think he was afraid of me. I’ve no clue as to why! (Page 14)

  • Heyyyy, hey now, no anger. No more anger… (Page 14)

  • (deeply concerned, caring.) Shhhh, It’s alright. Don’t worry about it one bit, just try to stay still. I’ve got you Fable, I got you… (Page 32)

This is two different takes, one chill stoner guy voice and one southern style. I am originally from AR so the latter might sound more natural for this character. I am always open to comments or adjustments. Thanks for the consideration!
