I would audition like you but I'm nervous, and when I hear myself in the audio recording software I use I hate my voice.
I completely understand what you mean and it definitely took some time for me to get used to it a little. Ofc it's still hard to hear myself like this, but I find it better that I try my best and ask some friends (that would be honest with me) what I could improve.
