The Last Gladiator (paid project)
Samuel Knowlton for Dominic, the Emperor's Troubleshooter
Accent: French
Word Count: 945
Style: Smooth, cold, snarky
Dominic works for the Emperor. He will do anything the Emperor asks of him, no matter how disturbing or heartless. He only requires an occasional reward for his labors, a victim of his own he can torment any way he likes. He is a truly terrifying psychopath, and yet so convincingly civilized about it.

(Penny is trapped in a catacomb prison, bound by chains. Dominic has bragged about his power over her, and she has accused him of being a narcissist) Narcissist? Oh no, my dear. You have me all wrong. Our beloved Emperor. You’re right about him. He lives inside his own fantasy. He plays at rebuilding Rome. But no one can live in the past. It is precisely his delusion that makes him weak. No. I detest narcissists as much as you do. I simply enjoy suffering, the way others enjoy music, or fine food. It’s like an aphrodisiac. It makes me feel so .. alive.
(Dominic traces a knife along Penny’s cheek.) We all wear masks. We all hide our true nature, even from ourselves. But I don’t hide. I’m that one truly honest person in the room. I reveal the truth, about myself, about you. I am the one who peels back the mask and shows the world who you really are. So really, I am the good guy.
Good choice on where you set the French. Great voice acting too. You were Dominic.
Thank you!
